Imus on MSNBC and its talent…
Imus was on another one of his MSNBC tears this morning (he also spent a good deal of time going over the O’Reilly/Olbermann/Scarborough/NBC News/MSNBC fracas of the past couple of days)…
UPDATE: Maybe the tear had something to do with Keith Olbermann scooping Imus on Imus’ own interview with John McCain yesterday. I saw a part of this and Imus was none too pleased to have Olbermann point out the inconsistencies in McCain’s statements on Imus (McCain won WPITW last night). Imus Blog has more information…
Imus: You got to remember that Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, and while we like them, they’re hideously insecure. Keith Olbermann’s got an audience of a couple hundred thousand people or even let’s say it’s a million, let’s be idiotically generous. I mean there’s no impact. I mean they get mentioned in the Huffington Post and Tom Shales gives them a shout once and awhile, and that’s it. They have no impact. I mean Keith had a book you couldn’t get arrested with it. I would have happy to help him and he never asked me. We could have made his book a best seller, but he couldn’t. He couldn’t and he can’t…so they’re, you know.
Charles: Right. They have issues.
Imus: … None of them like me anyway and they don’t want to get hammered, but I like them so…
Charles: I mean it’s bigger than that.Imus: I mean…You know….I’ve been here a long time and Charles I’ve seen this freak parade forever, and I’ve seen them come through.
Charles: And it continues.
Imus: And they just keep coming through. They’re here a while and then they’re gone, you know? I can just give you one example after another, it’s just been been one…Some of them you like, some of them you don’t. Some of them you try to help, some of them you don’t. They don’t have the liberty that we have. And the reason they don’t is because they don’t take it. You have to take it. Nobody’s saying you can go ahead and do what you want, I just do what I want. If they don’t like it, they can go get somebody else. That’s always been my position. From day one, that’s always been my position. From Palm Dale to here, you don’t like it, get somebody else. It doesn’t make any difference to me.

“I just do what I want.”, Yeah, right, except in his own home.
Today, there was Imus’ wife again. The last time she was on it was so bad that I had to switch off. She is the biggest whiner on the planet. The whole world is going to hell in a hand basket if you listen to her.
Imus has strong opinions about everyone else, but feet of clay when it comes to Deidre.

Imus refers to his MSNBC colleagues as a “freak parade?” That sounds like something Olbermann would do.

I dare Dobermann to put IMAN as WPITW. Since he’s a coward, nothing will come out of this.
Anyone have a vid of this?

Sorry I missed this. And Imus is right, he has made books turn into best-sellers after their authors have appeared on his show. I have to question why Olbermann avoided such an opportunity when he did go on other talk shows to plug it (Letterman, Leno, Colbert, etc). But those were “liberal-friendly” venues and I have a suspicion that Imus might have asked him questions he didn’t want to answer. It may also be why Olbermann avoided doing ANY book signings for his book.
Oh, and Imus is totally whipped by his wife. It’s very amusing to hear.

Usually www.imusblog.com has videos of good stuff. He reviews what happens every day but didn’t see a video today. Olberman is too big a wuss to attack Imus. He won’t even have anyone on his show who disagrees with him so he sure isn’t gonna confront Imus. Yes, it is sickening to watch Deidre Imus whine all the time. How did any of us ever survive without her stuff to clean with. I never knew mankind was in such danger.

What is with MSNBC and their attacks? We know their personalities love to go after O’Reilly and Anderson Cooper, and here Imus is going after KO and Matthews? It’s just childish, and a phenomena seen nowhere else.
So I guess if you like this kind of backbiting, MSNBC is the place to be!

Lurker is definitely right this time! KO doesn’t have the guts to call Imus out.

Funny thing, but I happened to ACTUALLY see the first half-hour of Imus this morning and he said nothing but COMPLIMENTARY things about Olermann’s “WPITW”—more joking about the “Countdown” staff having the entire day to research the “flip-flops”(lies?) in McCain’s current statements. Imus and McCord both thought Keith handled it gently and humorously, and then Imus “yelled” at his own staff for not having the O’Reilly “silver” “WPITW” ready for him to play as well (BOR’S “War On NBC”). I am not really an Imus fan, and was surprised he was so generous to Olbermann, but he was also gently teasing Phil Griffin, so my guess is that new relationship might have something to do with his demeanor.
Now let’s get back to “Olbermann not having the guts to call Imus out”.

Just out of curiosity I clicked on that Imus Blog link…However, I quickly exited after there was a bunch of “man ass” flaunting “chaps” in my face. Uh, what’s that all about?

I don’t know. I guess it has to do with Imus’ ranch?

Alison: Please name one best seller that was made by an appearance on Imus.

Olby didn’t scoop Imus. The “inconsistencies” Olby pointed out were lifted by him (without attribution, or verification) from the Think Progress website which had posted them earlier in the day.

Ira, I don’t know whether Imus “creates” bestsellers, but when I used to watch him years ago, he seemed to make that claim quite often.

Terance, those are bull riders. A bull riding event being held in NYC was mentioned in that blog entry, if you read the final paragraphs.

Thanks. I like the whole rodeo scene, but the “cropped” picture sort of through me for a loop. So I bailed rather quickly.
