Tuesday’s Numbers…
FNC had another strong night. O’Reilly was tops as usual but Hannity & Colmes (with Kirsten Powers subbing for Colmes) was right up there over the 2,000,000 mark and the number 1 Demo total of the evening. Larry King Live was uncharacteristically flat with only a little of half a million viewers and being beaten by Paula Zahn Now. The MSNBC debut of Warrior Nation had a glass jaw and fell quickly in the first round (translation: it barely beat CNBC for fourth place).

Attention CNN: Miles & Soledad pulled in a whopping 118,000 in the PRIZED DEMO! Once again, when will you be getting around to booting these two neverhasbeens?

Maybe is has something to do with KO’s show is the exact same every single night. Story 1-Bash Bush. Story 2-Bash Bush. Worst Person in the World-Bill O’Reilly & any conservative.
It’s stale.

Just as I figured. When Alan Colmes is gone, the numbers go up! When are they going to get rid of this loser?

Am I the only one who thinks that FNC should do a “Hannity & Colmes” type show with Kirsten Powers and Michelle Malkin? They both frequently give dueling commentaries for O’Reilly, and would be great for getting in a youthful AND female audience.

Cella: I much prefer Bob Beckel as the sub for Alan Colmes.
Kirsten Powers comes off as being weak.
They ought to try Laura Schwartz.

I like Powers & Malkin but I’m not sure they would be good show hosts. Much like Barnes & Kondracke.. they’re great guests, but neither Beltway Boy is a very good show host.
Ditto for Beckel. Of course, they could get better w/ more experience.

I like the Beltway Boys… although, you are right, they’re kinda crummy hosts. But I think these two ladies could get a little better with practice.
As for Laura Schwartz, either or I think is fine… both are eloquent without being annoying or vicious.

How about a roundtable like what the View has but this time 3 conservatives and 1 liberal. Michelle Malkin, Karen Hanretty, hire back Monica Crowely or get Linda Vester back in the chair, she can also be the lead person, oh yea and let’s not forget Kirsten Powers ha. On Fridays, take out one of the conservatives and put in Ann Coulter. She might be too wild for 5 nights a week heh. Put the show on at 11 pm. The repeats will be bumped an hour later and also they would need to cut a repeat, either Cavuto or Fox Report.

In all serious, I thought about that earlier… a news show like the view, but with… intelligence…
But I wonder if women would watch… no offence to women. Does anyone have the cable news break down by gender? I’d be interested to see what the split is.

Has CNBC moved the Deal or No Deal rerun to a later hour to prevent Olberman’s gameshow Meltdown from continually remaining in FIFTH place out of FIVE?
Comment by Tom — January 10, 2007 @ 11:33 pm
Ira, I prefer Bob, also. Kirsten was particularly weak last night! Really poor performance.
Comment by cella — January 11, 2007 @ 9:37 am
Wonder if there was another right leaning cable network if Fox News would still dominate the ratings. After all as it stands right now they have the monopoly on conservative viewers where as CNN and MSNBC have to share the left leaning or moderate viewers.

ImNotBlue: I don’t know if you remember the female Hannity & Colmes type show from CNBC (or was it America’s Talking or was it early MSNBC?) in the 1990s with Bay Buchanan vs Dee Dee Myers.
It lasted about a year but lacked the sparks and firepower of H&C or even “Crossfire.”
