This is routine practice. "24" is not the only one being promoted, but have you noticed Simon Cowell and his two buddies for the new American Idol to start tonight? Nothing wrong with being reminded.

It's just like the FOX NFL football crew heavily promoting
in December the NCAA college football finals between Florida and Ohio State on January 8. Millions watched that game, particularly when the Gators delivered one of the most stunning upsets in recent College Bowl history.

Norm- Don't we see NBC news on "Law and Order", whenever they show the news on a TV there? Unless of course the press is being featured unfavorably. I could be wrong, but I could have sworn I've seen it before.

Either way, I don't have a problem with them doing that... I'm not a big fan of when they use their actual news talent in a show... but other than that, no biggie. Although I wonder if it hurts them in the future when the shows go into syndication.

Unfortunately it isn't the norm... when is the last time you saw MSNBC featured (not the talent, but the name) on an NBC Network show or a Universal (owned by NBC) movie other than Deep Impact a couple years ago? Rupert might be crazy, but is IS NOT STUPID and when he talks about synergy, HE MEANS IT... unlike Jeff Zucker and the suits over at NBC that spin things to make them sound good, but never follow through. Having FOX News Channel be the news of choice on 24 and other FOX programming such as Prison Break is a smart move, and it represents true synergy... Zucker, Abrams, Capus, etc. should take notes. Bob Wright should insist that MSNBC be the news in all NBC Universal programming and movies... CNBC should be seen when the movie is dealing with a financial crime or twist of some sort.

Chris, Alot of shows do that. I am from L.A. and sometimes when I would be watching a TV show they would have a news reporter on and it would be a local person from the network the show is on. It's pretty much the norm.

Definitely a good show, though some of the actions might be a little .... theoretical vs. realistic. One thing though, there's a bit of subliminal advertising for Fox News Channel and other News Corp. local channels throughout it (ever notice the news screens are usually a sudo-form of FNC, or knock-off CN3)

24 got off to a good start last night. And while it's a fictional TV show... the show does a very good job and if such events were to take place in this country today, I could see our current political leaders doing the same thing.

One quote from last nights episode that I think is really memorable, "And then you have ..... who treats the constitution like a list of suggestions" (name deleted to not spoil it for anyone). It was really good. I would suggest watching it if you can... it will be on Youtube, etc within hours of it's airing each week. Drudge even picked it up last night as his top story on the homepage, so he may have given the ratings a good boost.
