HLN double standard?
The Miami Herald’s Glenn Garvin blogs about (what sounds to me like) a lower third that appeard on HLN today regarding the case of Astronaut Lisa Nowack…
Nowack was charged attempted murder and attempted kidnapping. The Headline News tagline for the story: “Astro-naughty.” Think CNN would have slapped a cute headline on the story if a man was charged with the same crimes?

I believe MSNBC used “Astronaughty” for the title of the #1 Story on countdown tonight.

LOL. C’mon, lighten up - it’s a funny tagline. After all, no one was actually hurt. Jay Leno had about a dozen funny lines related to the incident tonight. The whole incident is so bizarre, it’s hard not to make light of it.

Jay Leno is not doing a newscast. He’s a comedian. Countdown isn’t exactly a newscast either.

Cable News in general should not be called “news” or a “newscast”.

The Fox Report is the definition of a newscast. Everything else, on cable (including FNC) or the broadcast networks, is something less.
Astronaughty, as Wolf and Anderson would say, is not a term CNN would ever use. CNN does real journalism. CNN would never stoop so low.

How does Glenn Garvin know the “astro-naughty” was put on there because she is a woman? I think the “diaper angle” is very sick and worthy of that title!

My favorite tag is O’Reilly’s “Astro-nut”.
Come on, guys, lighten up.

Her name is Lisa Nowak, not “Nowack,” and HLN did not run the “Astro-Naughty” banner, CNN did. And it was dropped after the attempted murder charge was filed.
Other than that, good catch, Glenn.

Oops! It seems that it was Glenn Beck who used “Astro-Nut”
I knew I had seen it somewhere, and really thought it was Bill’s show.

I’ve seen “Houston, we have a problem”, “Lust in Space”, and of course, “Astronut” in the last couple of days, on each of the cable networks.
