Courtney Friel joins FNC…
FNC announced that Courtney Friel has joined the network as a correspondent for Foxnews.com and as a substitute anchor. Friel will be appearing this weekend on Fox and Friends.
Courtney Friel has joined FOX News, announced Bill Shine, Senior Vice President of Programming at FOX News, and will make her debut on “FOX & Friends” this weekend. Friel will join co-hosts Kelly Wright and Greg Kelly in anchoring the morning program this Saturday and Sunday from 7-10AM/ET.
In addition, Friel will be a correspondent for Foxnews.com.
Friel comes to FNC with ten years of experience in the broadcast industry. Most recently, she was a correspondent for KPSB, the CBS affiliate in Palm Springs, California. Other recent stints include: host for the Travel Channel; host for Court TV; anchor at E! Entertainment; host at Nickelodeon; and correspondent for FOX’s America’s Most Wanted. In 2003, Friel was an anchor and reporter for WBBJ, an ABC affiliate in Jackson Tennessee.A graduate of San Diego University, Friel began her career in 1997 at Channel One News in Los Angeles.

Daayum. She’s smokin’ hot. However, she would look even better if she lost the bleach blonde hair. Why are the women at Fox News so much more attractive than women in the rest of the American press corps?

FNC wouldn’t be aiming for the male demographic with this move, would they?
Chetry is gone, so they eye candy bowl needed to be refilled. Not to demean Courtney Fiel’s experience or qualifications, but I think it’s safe to say that if she didn’t look like she does, her resume would have been tossed.

Fox’s new teleprompter reader sure does like to wear her bikini a lot in magazines.

Blond and pretty…imagine that. I bet it was the bikini pics that got her hired.

I’ll watch.

If I looked that good in bikini’s, I would be wearing them all day long. ;)

I have seen Courtney on the Travel Channel and Court TV before and IMO she is more than just a “teleprompter reader.” As is mentioned she has a decade of experience and degree in political science and journalism. I don’t see anything wrong with hiring a competent and extremely attractive correspondent. It’s a smart move.
Comment by Buck — February 16, 2007 @ 3:25 pm
Wow… I’m amazed at how many people think that attractive women are all bimbos. You folks should recognize that some people are more than just stereotypical blonde jokes and eye candy. Sheesh!

A corrospondant for Foxnews.com? I wonder if she’ll be taking over the online duties that Kiran Chetry had. (In addition to one or two weekly segments, I think Kiran also usually co-hosted streaming events with Mike Straka.)
Comment by Charles — February 16, 2007 @ 4:12 pm
I wonder if this new hire is going to result in resentment amongst the female on-air talent at Fox News. They would have been better off with a Lauren Green or Molly Henneberg in that center chair.
Comment by Bob — February 16, 2007 @ 4:29 pm
ImNotBlue - I wasn’t saying that either Chetry or Freil aren’t qualified for the job. As I said, I wasn’t demeaning Freil’s experience or qualifications. But come on, you don’t see the pattern here…replace Chetry with a woman who has modeled in Maxim?
Ask yourself this - do you think FNC would have hired CNN’s Candy Crowley over Courtney Friel?
Comment by FishOil — February 16, 2007 @ 5:18 pm
Well Fish, I wasn’t necessarily referring to you. However why is this even an issue? If it were a new male reporter, would we be talking about how he looks? Probably not… there are some scary looking men at FNC.
Her looks probably help her get on the television, but if you think that viewers are only turning in to see a pretty face… there are plenty of other channels they can turn to for that. A news host, no matter how hot, still has to be pretty smart or else they’ll never succeed.
Comment by ImNotBlue — February 16, 2007 @ 5:39 pm
FishOil, I don’t think they would have hired Candy Crowley over Courtney Friel! Also, to a certain extent, I’m noticing FNC is getting rid of women and a few men that are just a tick older - Carol Iovanna, Donna Fiducia, Bob Sellers. Hmmm. And let’s not forget what they did to E.D. Hill!
Comment by Olivia — February 16, 2007 @ 5:40 pm
She’s the Pamela Anderson of cable news.
Comment by Peter — February 16, 2007 @ 6:20 pm
Did they remove the gallery? Looks like it.
Comment by bigred — February 16, 2007 @ 8:10 pm
“And let’s not forget what they did to E.D. Hill!”
Olivia: And what did they do? Likely, she wanted to get away from F&F and that early morning shift.

I’m digging this new girl. She was just on H&C. Great personality, seems knowledgeable, not ditzy. Oh yea, She looks even hotter then I expected.
Comment by Lurker — February 16, 2007 @ 10:19 pm
Nonsense, fox dumped her unceremoniously on a Friday, a few weeks before the anniversary. Contrast that with the way Lauren Greene left, she was given a few minutes at the end of the show to say goodbye. To think otherwise is nonsensical.
Comment by Steve — February 16, 2007 @ 10:19 pm
Lauren Green (amonst others) would have been a big improvement over Kiran Chetry had she been given the center chair on “F&FW.”
Comment by Bob — February 16, 2007 @ 11:03 pm
#18 - yes, you’re right!
Comment by Olivia — February 17, 2007 @ 12:16 am
With Kiran gone thought I’d have no reason to watch F&Fs weekend anymore.Boy,was I WRONG—WOWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!! :D :D
Comment by No.6 — February 17, 2007 @ 8:49 am
Ok, 3rd hour of FNF already. Great personality and all but seems they’re just giving her the fluff pieces to do and comment on like bald Britney/Anna Nicole and leaving her out of the politics stuff.
Comment by Lurker — February 17, 2007 @ 10:13 am
The 2 Kellys seem to be doing all the actual commentary and coverage while Courtney does some one liner type of remarks. If she added any commentary that showed off correspondant skills or was of a political nature, I must have missed it. It is her first day so I guess she should get cut a bit of slack but it seems she should have had more real input.
Comment by STP — February 17, 2007 @ 11:01 am
should be correspondent
Comment by STP — February 17, 2007 @ 11:02 am
Honestly, she seems like a decent personality for the network, between being a teleprompter reader and having some knowledge on her own side of the screen, but honestly, it’s FNC’s continued press towards attractive people with, what else, blonde hair!
Honestly, I know everyone hates this comparison, but FNC truly is rather Nazistic in this respect! The majority of the female correspondents and etc. are blonde, naturally or dyed, white, and are nothing more than another addition to the pool of teleprompter readers on the network, but they all relatively the same!
Comment by Chris — February 17, 2007 @ 12:51 pm
She’d make tons more cash and quicker if she followed the “bikini” angle and all it’s possibilities and RAM-ifications on and off the airwaves (or video waves) if you get my drift.
Flaunt it while you’ve got it because I’m sure she’ll always be able to read a teleprompter well, but “not so” with being bikini stuffing.

Courtney Friel said Greg Kelly and Kelly Wright were in good shape. Thats like saying Kiran Chetry & Rita Cosby are in shape.
Comment by Terance — February 17, 2007 @ 2:03 pm
When Paula Zahn went from FOX to CNN — CNN played the “SEXY BLONDE CARD” pretty hard with her. They all do it!!
Comment by Aunt Mary — February 17, 2007 @ 4:42 pm
Sorry.. I’d still rather see Kiran!
Comment by Neil C — February 18, 2007 @ 6:22 am
Great line, Terance. I caught that one too.
Comment by chalmers — February 18, 2007 @ 11:36 am

Comment by Jeff — February 18, 2007 @ 5:43 pm
seemed like the kelly boys were drolling all over her.. don’t be so obvious..
Comment by paul — February 20, 2007 @ 12:05 pm
I saw Courtney on Fox and Friends a few Monday mornings ago, and she managed to make all of her co-hosts mad, and at one point turned to one of them and said “my turn.” I haven’t seen her since. There’s something to be said for pretty AND nice!
Comment by Julie — March 29, 2007 @ 3:42 pm
Is Courtney Friel still with Fox & Friends? I hope not. She’s pretty, in a brittle blonde way, but I get the feeling that no one likes her on the set. And she doesn’t seem that bright–certainly not when you compare her with Kiran Chetry. It is painful to watch her fumble around and try to be “one of the gang”. I agree that a little
“niceness” can go a long way. Did anyone see or hear about her running off the set recently??
Comment by Pat — April 28, 2007 @ 11:01 pm
Problem with Kelly is she always seems to side with the wrong side. Kind of like tough luck. I don’t believe the bad guy always wins but to hear her you would think so and just throw in the towel.

That is great that people can get the mortgage loans and that opens completely new possibilities.
