Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-changes…

Now you see it. Now you don't...FTVLive reports that Courtney Friel’s website has pulled all the more “sexy” photos off of it; I guess in an attempt to distance Friel from her modeling past now that she’s on a cable news channel. I saw the site before the change and FTVLive wasn’t kidding. Most of the “glamour shots” are gone including this one which I pulled from her site the day she got hired.

Under the circumstances, considering all the comments that were made about Friel’s looks on the air during Fox and Friends Saturday, I don’t understand why the pics got yanked.

  1. Because removing sexy pictures makes you a serious journalist…

  2. Is that it? Damn. I need to remove all my sexy pictures then. Oh wait…I have to have some first before I can remove them…

  3. Exactly Gab, plus any god-fearing, republican-loving viewers of Fox would never want to watch someone who has had a past with some more provocative pictures. They would never believe FNC to use sex as a way of getting ratings, they would never do that.

  4. I didn’t see her debut….keeping in the Kiran Chetry tradition, was she showing a lot of leg, no matter how cold it may get in NYC in the middle of winter?

  5. I don’t even remember what she wore. I tuned in for a second and heard her say something about (I can’t remember her exact wording) how Newt Gingrich had been laying low and we haven’t seen much of him for the past few years and Greg Kelly kindly pointed out that he is an FNC contributor.

    Comment by Gab — February 19, 2007 @ 12:38 pm

  6. FishOil, It is not cold in the studio.
I’m a women and I think she is beautiful and sexy, she looks fun and she seemed very comfortable in her new position. I think she should keep her pictures up (I wish I had a body like that). My husband said after seeing her that “this will be worth getting up at 7am on Saturdays for”. LOL.
They hired her and I think they should let her be her. I do think they need to replace the 2 guys though (I like both of the guys but not as F&F hosts) Just my opinion. Maybe just her with one guy (like James Rosen Sp?).
And did anyone else notice (besides me and my husband) that Greg kelly seemed nervous with her? I think it is going to be funny watching them together. He seemed a little Ga Ga over her. Sometimes guys don’t know how to handle themselves around a beautiful women. Bill O is one of those guys too. It’s fun watching how Bill acts when a beautiful or sexy women is on his show.

  7. “Courtney Friel’s website has pulled all the more “sexy” photos off of it;”

Can websites physically remove pictures from themselves? :)

Is Courtney already too big of a star to control her own website?

Or is FTV Live and everybody else here assume she is a dumb bimbo too stupid to handle her own website?

    Comment by Ira — February 19, 2007 @ 12:59 pm

  8. Ira, she now is a representation of Fox News Chanel and Fox News Channel cannot allow Fox News Channel to have any form of sexual connection with the people at Fox News Channel.

  9. Noelle - I’m aware that their studio isn’t cold. What I’m pointing out is FNC’s blatant attempt to lure in male viewers by putting an attractive woman front and center. That and their penchant for covering stories such as fast food eateries where women dress in scantily clad clothing.
Don’t get me wrong….I’m not a prude, but after seeing enough of it I don’t consider FNC to be a “serious” news organization. If you want futher proof, watch their new show “Red Eye” and notice how many gratuitous shots of Rachel Mardsen’s legs there are.
I know that CBS has done this with the likes of Katie Couric, but it seems that FNC holds the title. One of their best moments was on Hannity’s America, where he went to a brothel to give the ladies a morality lecture yet the segment was chock full of shots of women in skimpy lingerie.

I’d take FNC more seriously on this issue if they wouldn’t attack Anderson Cooper for being the “Paris Hilton of Television News.”

    Comment by FishOil — February 19, 2007 @ 1:06 pm

  10. You can’t single FNC out on that. All the networks frequently put attractive men and women in the anchor chair. I don’t really have a problem with that either as long as they have the chops to do the job.

    Comment by Spud — February 19, 2007 @ 1:08 pm

  11. Spud - I get what you’re saying, but I have seen F&F enough and sometimes Chetry looked like she was headed out for a night of clubbing…not doing a morning news show. My point being - she was capable at her job but it was also obvious what her main role was (i.e. eye candy). If they are going to attack Anderson Cooper for “style over substance,” then they need to practice what they preach.

    Comment by FishOil — February 19, 2007 @ 1:14 pm

  12. “You can’t single FNC out on that. All the networks frequently put attractive men and women in the anchor chair”

Of course you can single FNC out on that! It’s not just about attractiveness; they have a clear dress code when it comes to their female hosts - and they have no desks either, unlike the other two networks (who seem to have their anchors chained to desks). It’s obvious what the motive is.

    Comment by Mr A — February 19, 2007 @ 1:35 pm

  13. Mr A, What did Soledad (sp?) of CNN wear today on her morning show? I’ll tell you. She wore a skirt that showed her legs (God forbid) and long black boots. How about CNN’s “Sexy” Paula Zahns adds? How about CNBC “Money Honey”. I have no problem with any of this. These women are all beautiful. Sheesh, by reading this board you would think we’re in Iran or something.

    Comment by Noelle — February 19, 2007 @ 1:42 pm

  14. I don’t think you can single out FOX Noise Channel, what about Amy Robach at MSNBC? Or Norah O’Donnell?

    Comment by Andy Marquis — February 19, 2007 @ 1:59 pm

  15. I don’t have a problem with anchors or reporters of both sex being good looking but when that’s all they seem to have going for them then it’s a problem for me. I do see a trend for the “babe look” on all cable networks but do find that Fox News stands out.In fact have often wondered if this trend is a result of trying to copy FNC. Did notice that Kiran C was more conservatively dressed than when she was FNC.So either she did have something appropriate in her closet or CNN lent her some “serious journalist “clothes.

    Comment by myview — February 19, 2007 @ 2:18 pm

  16. Noelle - It’s not about having attractive anchors, per se. That goes with the territory. What is relevant is how gratutious a network is with it, and Fox wins in a landslide. I could be wrong, of course, but as Mr. A said, there seems to be a clear motive in what Fox News is doing. I’m not saying women should be wearing burqas and I’m not saying the networks should be condemned for hiring good looking people. All I’m saying is that Fox News compromises their credibility to a certain degree by, in a large degree in my opinion, rolling with the “sex sells” rule.

    Comment by FishOil — February 19, 2007 @ 2:20 pm

  17. Well, they didn’t pull her video filmed lying on top of a card table posted on Maxims website.
btw…just once, couldn’t FOX put the men in muscle shirts? heehee…see how silly??

    Comment by newsfan — February 19, 2007 @ 2:43 pm

  18. Fox News should have Julie Banderas on 24/7. She is much more attractive than Courtney Friel, although I haven’t seen any photos of Banderas in a bikini. Anyone got a link? Thank you.

    Comment by Tom — February 19, 2007 @ 3:09 pm

  19. Fox’s attempt to make people forget Kiran Chetry, by putting on another bimbo bombshell. A) She don’t seem like she one the weekend gig and B) she isn’t no Kiran Chetry. The way this all went down sounds to me like Courtney was going to be hired anyways and Kiran gone was the perfect opportunity to flaunt her on tv. Well, if it angered present talent I wouldn’t be suprised.

    Comment by brettfan — February 19, 2007 @ 3:14 pm

  20. To the person at #14. The women on MSNBC have talent…not bimbos. Maybe you could have argued about Melissa Stark, but alas she is not around. And if you say Contessa, wel she may not be that great, but she went into the news business and payed her dues in Milwaukee and other lowly stations. Amy Robach and Norah O’Donnell are actually quite good at what they do. Not a Courtney who posed in magazines or landed a gig becuase of her looks.

    Comment by brettfan — February 19, 2007 @ 3:22 pm

  21. I think brettfan hit this on the head, this may have just been a stroke of luck for the network. Anyway, not amazingly, not one word was said on FNC about her being gone that I saw.

    Comment by Chris — February 19, 2007 @ 3:24 pm

  22. LOL, Some of you guys act like Kiran is BOR or Hannity. Now if those two jumped to other networks then Fox would be in trouble. Kiran was on in the weekends and the 1st hour of FNF weekdays? What do those 2 get in the ratings? Under 1 million? No lost for FNC.

    Comment by Lurker — February 19, 2007 @ 3:25 pm

  23. I’m amazed at some of you people! Kiran dressed in mini skirts on FNC because they told her to.. Just like CNN told her to dress in a respectable manner. Its no secret FNC “acquired” some of their audience by having anchors in little skirts. But, for the life of me, I can’t figure how Greta got an exemption?

    Comment by Terance — February 19, 2007 @ 3:45 pm

  24. No way FNC told her to. She likes showing off, always putting back that laptop screen. Not much on top or she would probably be showing off cleavage too. How come Jane Skinner at the 2pm anchor slot is mostly always in pants? Why doesn’t FNC tell her to be in mini skirts?

    Comment by Lurker — February 19, 2007 @ 3:58 pm

  25. Why so defensive, Lurker? Just watch the daytime output and you will see the female hosts in their short skirts and with their crossed legs. This is a fact and not a partisan opinion (before you jump in with your “crazed liberals” schtick). We can speculate as to the reasons for this all day long but I have my own interpretation and will stick by it.

    Comment by Mr A — February 19, 2007 @ 4:39 pm

  26. Trust me I’m not defensive. Just debating, something Dobermann doesn’t do. If you see FNC’s lineup there isn’t that much leg throught the day. 12 pm is Scott, then comes Martha where they have her standing in the control room then sitting down for the A-list where you can’t see anything, then comes Skinner who it seems is always in pants, then Smith, then Cavuto, then Gibson, then Smith again, then BOR, then H&C, then Greta

    Comment by Lurker — February 19, 2007 @ 4:53 pm

  27. Probably the next best shot at seeing some legs is the 2am Red Eye then during the morning hours with Gretchen, Kelly and Hill. Gretchen probably the most but how many times do they pan out for the wideshot on Kelly and Hill?

    Comment by Lurker — February 19, 2007 @ 4:55 pm

  28. Lurker, unlike the majority of people on here, I’m honest. And I’ll tell you Jane is one of my favorites! However, she isn’t exactly a skinny woman.. So, putting her in a mini skirt or even a skirt above the knee would NOT be in good taste. (unless she’s wearing tall boots) Back to Kiran, I have no idea what she wears to “the club”, but CNN must have a “dress code” and its fair to say FNC’s never heard of one. Finally, Gretchen definitely needs to cover up.

    Comment by Terance — February 19, 2007 @ 5:03 pm

  29. Yea, FNC probably doesn’t have a strict dress code but I don’t believe they would be telling the women what to wear. You know what channels really really don’t have a dress code? Those spanish language channels. T&A all day.

    Comment by Lurker — February 19, 2007 @ 5:46 pm

  30. Some years back, Electronic Media (now TV Week) carried an item about FNC’s dress code, which told women such things as exactly how much cleavage to show. FNC’s then-spokesman Robert Zimmerman even confirmed it. No idea if it’s still in effect, though I wouldn’t be surprised.

    Comment by David — February 19, 2007 @ 7:13 pm

  31. Sex sells and fnc knows that. Why else would ailes hire beauty queens…with not alot of journalistic experience. but i forget all they are gonna do is talk about the news and not gather the facts and actually put a story together with the facts. so maybe they are qualified to sit and look pretty and talk.

    Comment by Big Dave — February 19, 2007 @ 11:10 pm

  32. I’m with Spud on this one. As long as they can do the job, who does it hurt if they are easy on the eyes to boot? Considering Nancy Grace is the alternative… Shudder…

    Comment by Caufield — February 20, 2007 @ 10:08 am

  33. Look at this double standard. Shuddering at Nancy Grace. Feel for women! O’Reilly, Hume, Gibson, Colmes, Hannity, Kasich and the list goes on!

  34. cudos to fnc… news is news, why not make it easy on the eyes!!!
