MSNBC making daytime Demo inroads on CNN?
Is MSNBC starting to eat away at CNN in the daytime Demo? Last Thursday, MSNBC beat CNN six hours in a row during the day in the money demographic. One day is not indicative of a trend though. But it will be interesting to see what happens in the future…

I don’t watch MSNBC that much. But except for that train wreck Larry King show a few weeks back. I don’t remember the last time I watched CNN.
It’s like that channel lost any buzz, or has it got old all of a sudden?
I just don’t have a reson, good or bad why I want to watch CNN these days. CNN has just gone BLAH!

The only thing that made CNN#1 was Bill(SLICK)Clinton and he ain’t runn’in .CNN=CLINTON NEWS NETWORK.

That’s a very interesting bit of information at this point, though if limited to one day, isn’t too amazing. Honestly though, I was kind of surprised to hear about MSNBC getting on CNN’s trails, though I guess some may be kind of bored with the format CNN continues to use with the “Newsroom” title, but who knows for sure.

I’ve been noticing that trend too recently. I think CNN has taken huge steps back in the delivery and presentation of their news in the daytime. Some of their anchors are unbelievably boring.
Meanwhile, MSNBC coverage is getting more interesting every day, although I do admit that it’s not a high bar to jump. Their daytime programming before Abrams took over was simply unwatchable.
If CNN would just run CNN international all morning and afternoon they would be better off. I look forward to watching that in the afternoons.

#4…adding CNNI would be ANOTHER further step back since if you look at the demo figures, 12pm had the lowest #s…

Although not entirely related what does everybody think of FNC’s America’s Newsroom show…I think it’s really well put together and could take even more viewers from CNN…

Well Paul T, I think FNC’s America Newsroom is perfect. But I might be a little bias because I am a Huge Bill Hemmer fan. I think Bill and Megyn (sp?) make a perfect team. I’m glad they changed things up some in the morning. I just wish they would put E.D back on F&F, the trio was perfect.
As for MSNBC beating CNN. I also am like “puck”. I watch MSNBC alot more then CNN. Actually the only time I will watch CNN is if Larry King has someone on that I am interested in. But I may flip to it as I am surfing around but nothing on CNN has ever pulled me in and said “stay and watch”.
I do have a suggestion for CNN though. Sunday I was flipping channels and there was a guy on named Rick Sanchez (I thik that was his name). Well, I liked him, not his co host though. He seemed ALIVE compared to other hosts I have seen on CNN. Anyways, I think CNN should have Kiran Chetry and Rick Sanchez hosting together for their monday thru friday morning show intead of the O’Briens or whatever their names are. (I think you guys can tell I always mispell peoples names, so sorry about that).

Rick Sanchez?? I’d rather put my head in a vice.

I was home last thursday and MSNBC showed the trial of Anna Nicole Smith all day while CNN had regular news. I think this is why they had a higher rating.

LOL I’ll second that #9…as for why CNN’s demo numbers are so low, I think #8 is touching on it: American Morning. Imus tends to have higher demo #s (and overall #s) compared to AM, so of course that provides a better lead-in to the daytime news programming. I think even if CNN can work on perking up AM’s demo figures, the rest should improve as well (9am onwards)…

MSNBC has good daytime programming. I am glad they did away with The Most in the afternoon and Tucker is always interesting when he has Pat Buchanan on and Hardball is usually very interesting.

I think your right Anonymous, a good lead in continues to a good broadcast in most cases, though CNBC has seen that doesn’t always work with their game show to Donny form.

Oh, I didn’t notice the note about Sanchez, how in the world would he be a good fit for the net’s morning program? Are we aiming for another F&F on CNN or something?
Comment by Chris — February 19, 2007 @ 8:47 pm
Noelle, Rick Sanchez had a cohost yesterday? He normally doesn’t. LOL.. the thought of Rick Sanchez on AM is almost frightening!

Looks like number 10 found why. I’ve watched America’s newsroom and it’s nothing more than same ol fnc. They throw up an alert every five seconds and the content is dominated by tabloid type stories. And to address number 2…fnc is number one because it’s the republican news network. And the sad part..they dont deny or try to hide that fact!

Big Dave, I’m disappointed in you. How did you let 15 people make intelligent, relevant comments before you jumped in with your tired (and in this instance, not even particularly coherent) anti-FNC shtick? It must be difficult for FNC’s high ratings to be such a constant source of angst.
