Weekend Numbers…

The 1/2 Hour News Hour was big for FNC. The show averaged 1,398,000 viewers and 442,000 in The Demo. For those interested, that translates into a 91% increase in Total Viewers and a 102% increase in Demo viewers over the same day last year. Further breaking it down, 1/2 Hour was up 69% in Total Viewres and 94% in Demo Viewers over the (as yet incomplete) Q1 2007 average.

Those numbers are all Live numbers, which is what FNC sells by. But if you look at the DVR numbers from Live+ SD ratings, 1/2 Hour averaged 1,478,000 Total Viewers and 499,000 in Demo Viewers indicating a not insigificant “Tivo bump” for the show’s premiere.

  1. Let’s see what the 2nd pilot gets. If it’s around the same ratings does Roger greenlight it as a weekly show? But then what timeslot do you put it in? Maybe after H&C? take a break from politics and stuff and before Greta comes on with all that tabloid crap. Slip it right inbetween at the 10 PM ET slot..

  2. Lurker, did you mean weeknight show? I don’t think that’d be a good idea. Doing it every night would dilute it and make it stale. Once a week is a good idea, and I think Sunday’s are probably the best time.

    They’ve got to be pleased with these numbers.

  3. Big I read a Surnow interview where I think he was aiming for a weekly show. It was that NY magazine interview or something, maybe I misread.

    But let’s just say its a weekly show.

    Since it’s only a 30 minute show, something’s gotta give in their lineup. Get rid of another repeat and have Red Eye be a 1 hour 30 minute show?

  4. I’d like to see them re-run Fox News Watch. I usually miss the first run of it, and since the lineup got changed, I don’t think they re-run it anymore. They could place that after the 1/2 hour news hour.

  5. bigred - I think they should increase Fox News Watch to a full hour. The show always feels kind of rushed. They could talk more indepth about certain issues, as well as cover a wider array of stories.

  6. I love the show, but War Stories is not a sacrifice I am willing to make. War Stories was on in the middlwe of the night Sunday night/Monday morning, so I recorded it. Heartland is gone, it appears, because of Geraldo coming back. I think what they did this past weekend - cutting The Line-Up to 30 minutes - worked well. Most important: War Storie needs to have a home!

  7. that’s Stories. oops…

  8. Really, FNC needs to just get a schedule for the weekend which isn’t going to change every last second. I mean, in all honesty, I think the schedule should be like the following (PT times):

    5-6 P.M. :: Geraldo
    6-7 P.M. :: Heartland/War Stories
    7-7:30 P.M. :: The LineUp
    7:30-8 P.M. :: Journal Editorial/News Hour (if kept)
    8-8:30 P.M. :: Beltway (repeat)
    8:30-9 P.M. :: Fox News Watch (repeat)

    Then put in a repeat of the “Fox Report” and “Geraldo” before “Red Eye,” then follow with the rest of the above in repeat mode

  9. Chris: I’m wondering if “Heartland” with John Kasich is a goner. There is a mock Hollywood special hosted by Bill McCuddy scheduled for Saturday night.

  10. I l;ike your schedule idea Chris, but it leaves out Hannity’s America and the Fox Report.

  11. erljr, the Fox Report is in there, but also, I noticed I forgot Hannity after I finished that idea up, sorry about that.

  12. Oh I see. You are correct!

  13. Making New Corrections, based on Heartland being phased out (PT times):

    5-6 P.M. :: Geraldo
    6-7 P.M. :: Hannity’s/War Stories
    7-7:30 P.M. :: The LineUp
    7:30-8 P.M. :: Journal Editorial/News Hour (if kept)
    8-8:30 P.M. :: Beltway (repeat)
    8:30-9 P.M. :: Fox News Watch (repeat)
    9-10 P.M. :: Fox Report with Laurie Duhe (repeat)
    10-11 P.M. :: Geraldo (repeat)
    11 P.M.-12 A.M. :: Red Eye (some repeat or compilation)
    12-1 A.M. :: Hannity’s/War Stories (repeats)
    1-2 A.M. :: The LineUp (repeat)
    2-3 A.M. :: Journal Editorial/News Hour (if kept) (repeats)
    3-3:30 A.M. :: Beltway (repeat)
    3:30-4 A.M. :: Fox News Watch (repeat)
    3-7 A.M. :: Fox & Friends with Greg, Kelly, and (to be determined)

    A general conception with corrections, hopefully I didn’t screw up again >_
