Slow news day…

I don’t know how old this is (it’s new to me anyway) but this is uh…well…I don’t know

UPDATE: And this…

“FOX is Bringing Sexy Back!
with Martha MacCallum”

Wasn’t there an uproar over a CNN Paula Zahn ad which labeled her as sexy?

  2. FNC already brought sexy back and its Megyn K…

  3. Patti Ann Brown is still my favorite. Not sure why. Just something about her. And of course, Lauri Dhue still is HOT. Maybe it’s her lips. CNN still has Candy Crowley, of course.

  4. Fox hired a bikini model and put her on F&F:weekend as an anchor, I guess it isn’t surprising they are now trying to turn their female anchors into models.

  5. Well from these comments so far I guess FNC knows what it’s audience wants and is delivering.

  6. My husbands vote would be for Martha,(but he likes them all.) ;)

  7. lol, are we still going to get people denying that Fox objectifies its female anchors? This is hardly something you would expect from a serious journalist is it.

  8. Sure glad we’re staying on the whole “news” front of the channel! In all honesty, I like FNC because it’s entertaining and it’s fast, not because of the women of the network (how many people can have blonde hair, really?!)

  9. Let’s face it folks.. TV is a visual medium. That means attractive women are given primo spots. BTW, the new weekend anchor is more than just a “bikini model”. She has plenty of TV experience.

My personal fave is Megyn Kelly, but they’re all easy on the eyes.

  10. Courtney Friel is only 26 and has spent half of her career modeling and providing updates on a tv poker tour. She has as much experience as a newbie in a local tv market.

  11. Anyone know what the percentages are for female/male viewers at FNC? All I can say is certainly hope FNC doesn’t take it a step further and start pandering to the female audience because Bill O’Reilly delivering his commentary in a speedo is not a sight I want to see!

  12. Oh My Gosh. Some of you people really need to calm down about this. What the heck is the big deal? They are NOT objectifying women here. This spot is clearly geared toward the female demo who not only watch Fox for news but, as women, notice what they are wearing, their hair, etc.

It is a girl thing, we (not all) look at what other women are wearing and if we like it we want to know more about it. So, my gosh, get off your obvious “Fox sucks” soap box and stop reading more into this then what is there.

  13. i saw courtney on fox and friends weekend and greg kelly and kelly wright were talking and all she was doing was moving her head to the right and then to the left and nodding and not saying anything. It was embarrasing to watch. Then the guys keep mentioning her looks over and over again.

  14. Spud — I remember the Paula Zahn ad — However, I “think” it was “Paula herself” that had the problem with the ad. Something about it did not put her on the same playing field with the “big boys” and she found it demeaning. I could be wrong.

  15. I agree 100% Alice…I love Greg Kelly and was excited that he’s getting more air time but I’ve quit watching Fox & Friends Weekend now that she’s on. It is embarassing to watch.

  16. Fox lost their #1 hottie to CNN recently. CNN has all the babes now, especially on CNN en Espanol.

  17. I remember those CNN ads. They were pretty embarrassing and I’m sure Zahn felt they were a bit demeaning to her talents as a journalist. It looks pretty innocent from FNC so far…

  18. These women don’t give a hoot about being objectified. For them, it’s all about “face time” no matter how they get it. It just makes sense more people (viewers) men or women, would much rather watch a good looker than a troll. 95% of these people are nothing but “readers” anyway so their talent levels aren’t really tested.

  19. spiffo, please tell me you actually speak and understand spanish and that you aren’t just watching CNN en espanol for the visuals.:-)

  20. # 19 : A little of both. Claudia Palacios gets my motor running, and I won’t deny it.

  21. I found a site where all of that Paula Zahn/Zipper ad was covered. Paula Zahn’s statement on it: “I had no knowledge of the promo until it aired; when I saw it I was offended,” Zahn said in her statement on the subject.”

    Guess who said this:

“The driving force in the TV news game is ratings, and guys like to look at attractive women … so, if you want guys to watch your news you’ve got to have some good looking babes on the roster.”

    and this:
“TV news is survival of the fittest and sometimes that means the prettiest and sexiest. Sometimes it means other things too, but you use what you’ve got.”

  22. Actually just a couple of days ago I saw some old Posts on the Zahn affair.
I recollect exactly the same wording was used (- names) along with what some interpreted as a zipper sfx.
Mea Culpa and soon it was gone but does anyone have a recording. Maybe it can be brought to FNC attention?
