  1. Anything is an improvement. Friel is just plain awful.

  2. Meanwhile, Patti Ann Browne will be doing the news updates Saturday morning. Maybe if Patti Ann would go blond they would give her the airtime that the unproven and inexperienced newbies are getting.

  3. Cool, A person a FNF needs to be all around. Fun personality, can do the fluff stuff but also know about hard news/politics etc…

  4. My husband will miss Courtney! LOL
In my opinion they need to change F&F on the weekends to 2 people. Ever since Mike, Juliet and Julian left it hasn’t been the same. It is hard enough to find 2 people that have chemistry, let alone 3.

  5. Kiran and Alisyn were great together. I think Fox made a huge mistake in letting Kiran go. Gretchen Carlson is as wooden as a stump.

  6. Malone, even if PAB had blonde hair she’d still be doing the same thing at FNC… She sounds “nervous” on air and doesn’t give much (if any) opinion. Which leaves her with news and radio updates.

  7. Patti Ann Browne will like get a crack at the Center Chair before Uma Pemmaraju or Harris Faulkner.

  8. I don’t know who Ainsley is, but anything is an improvement. Courtney just wasn’t working as an anchor. I have seen her correspondent work and it was good, but anchoring? Not so much. She needs more polishing and definitely needs to become more informed on the topics of the day. She basically just sat there and didn’t really do much.

FnF weekend has been struggling for a while. It seems to me (and maybe just me) that they try to make it more “fun” then the weekday show, which in itself is not a completely serious news show (which is one reason why I like it, they don’t take themselves to seriously). However, the weekend show just has always seemed overly silly to me. Especially with Kiran and Allyson. They were like two high school girls who had the giggles the entire time. Kelly tried to be the “leader” but seemed to get talked over a lot.

I like Kelly, but Greg needs to warm up a bit. He is so serious I don’t think I have ever seen him laugh.

Everyone knocks FNC for not using PattiAnn or Uma, but there are two sides to every story, maybe they don’t want to job? You can’t always assume that Fox is just shelving them for not be in their 20’s or 30’s and blond.

  9. I don’t care for Patti Anne Brown at all. She’s so generic, nothing magnetic or interesting aobut her.

    Comment by Hyde — March 2, 2007 @ 3:39 pm

  10. jerziegrl,
Actually, it’s just mainly Bob who gives FNC grief for not using PAB or Uma. But he does it frequently enough that it SEEMS like a lot of people. ;)

  11. I think Greg Kelly has done a super job, he has relaxed into his role on the show and he, withour fail, is one of the few individuals on TV who can clearly and expertly express himself. I thought he was particularly funny last weekend; the exercise-in-hotel-room gig was hilarious. I could not disagree with you more, jerziegr

  12. Is Fox trying to set the record for most shows in a row hosted by a blonde?

    Comment by Steve — March 2, 2007 @ 5:32 pm

  13. Hey Sunshine….I like Greg too, but as a reporter. This isn’t his thing, he’s been at it 8 weeks and hasn’t shown any improvement. His area of expertise is hard news, not this fluff stuff.

    Comment by Veronica — March 2, 2007 @ 9:45 pm

  14. I think Greg Kelly is a good reporter but he looks uncomfortable on F&F. And just think, FNC could of saved themselves from all the slack they caught from “showcasing” the Maxim model on F&F weekend by just using Ainsley in the first place.

    Comment by Terance — March 3, 2007 @ 9:19 am

  15. Courtney Friel is so hot but she seemed like a ditzy sorority girl more interested in Britney than important news.

It was GREAT seeing Courtney but she didn’t fit.

Not with Ms. Earhardt this weekend, it looks more and more like FNC is trying to find their weekend winner and then they’ll work on male replacements later.

I like Greg Kelly and his point of view, and Kelly Wright’s a class act all the way, but they’re not truly fitting for the weekend show.

    Comment by Sinjin von Hoogstraaten — March 3, 2007 @ 9:33 am

  16. Why do they even have the other two guys on Fox and Friends? It’s the blondes in the middle that get all the attention.

    Comment by Joe — March 3, 2007 @ 11:03 am

  17. #6, so you’re saying FNC actually hired a real true-blue news anchor who doesn’t like giving opinions and just reports the news! WOW! That’s amazing! Getting past that, I actually am a big fan of her and see her as a journalist really, compared to some of the jokes on the network.

    Comment by Chris — March 3, 2007 @ 11:09 am

  18. PAB is a doll but too serious for F&F. Greg Kelly better grow out his hair or re-up in the military. He’s stiff as a dress shirt collar and one demensional. Maybe Uma, but my first choice of current talent must go to Paige Hopkins. Believe it or not, I’d give Janice Dean a shot. They must, however, get rid of G. Kelly and K. Wright. Yaaaawn!!! Greg Jarret is a good choice. Too bad that radio guy (bobble head) Mike isn’t available. Now there’s a trio for ya.

    Comment by Roger C. — March 3, 2007 @ 11:37 am

  19. I tried watching F&F this morning, because I like Greg Kelly.
But the show is still not working. FNC needs to decide what they want Greg Kelly to be - reporter or clown. I prefer him as a reporter.
And, IMO, you just can’t put inexperienced females into that three hour slot. They have got to be polished, with skills developed, before they sit in that chair. They seem to be letting women just stumble in.
    Janice Dean would be perfect.

    Comment by cella — March 3, 2007 @ 11:51 am

  20. I like Paige Hopkins too. I agree about the kelly’s (not right for F&F). But I think they are keeping Greg Kelly because I heard him say last week he was moving to New York (yikes). Greg Jarret is a great choice. I think Janice Dean would do great at what Kiran used to do….the news break and she can also do the weather. I also want to comment on FOX only having blonde women on F&F…what color hair did Kiran have?

    Comment by Noelle — March 3, 2007 @ 12:02 pm

  21. If anything, the weekend edition of F&F would probably be best with the current Kelly duel, in addition to maybe Quinn as the middle woman, Dean for headlines, and the current weather guy.

    Comment by Chris — March 3, 2007 @ 12:32 pm

  22. And just think, FNC could of saved themselves from all the slack they caught from “showcasing” the Maxim model on F&F weekend by just using Ainsley in the first place.

Terance: And where did they catch “slack”? From Fox hating bloggers? I’m sure Roger Ailes is losing sleep!

It is all moot: both Courtney and Ainsley are keeping the chair warm until Alysyn Camarota returns from maternity leave.

    Comment by Ira — March 3, 2007 @ 2:30 pm

  23. Ainsley actually did a great job this morning. She was knowledgable (sp?) about the topics at hand and had obviously done her homework and prepped well, unlike Courtney. She is cute, but she was much more than a pretty face. I would love for them to keep her for a while and see how it goes. Enough of the switching around nonsense.

Chris, I agree that Bridgette Quinn would be a fantastic anchor for FnF. She has filled in for Gretchen and did far better than Gretchen (not sure how she got that gig anyway).

    Comment by jerziegrl — March 3, 2007 @ 3:24 pm

  24. Ira, since when did FNC announce Alisyn Camerota would be going BACK to F&F weekend? I recall a thread saying she was replacing Lauren Greene for news breaks. (translation: demoted from 6 hours a week to 5 minutes a day) I realize this was said prior to Kiran leaving….But, I haven’t read or heard anything official.

    Comment by Terance — March 3, 2007 @ 4:45 pm

  25. i think paige is the most entertaining one of the bunch, she’s smart and very funny and has great chemistry with greg, really warms him up

    Comment by lulu — March 3, 2007 @ 5:03 pm

  26. Page wouldn’t bad a bad option either, maybe make her the third one for the weekends and make Pattie Ann the co-anchor of the Sunday edition of “Fox News Live,” which might become something else before we know it.

    Comment by Chris — March 3, 2007 @ 7:26 pm

  27. Patti Ann Brown is rude to everyone so she won’t get the gig. Ainsley at least very nice and has a head on her shoulders. Gregg Jarrett is the most underrated anchor at the whole network. Uma doesn’t want to anchor. The overnight anchor is a complete blonde nightmare trainwreck. Harris Faulkner is cross-eyed and horrid. And yes Greg Kelley and Kelley Write need to go back to boot camp. The best choice: Page Hopkins, Gregg Jarrett and Lauri Dhue (or Uma if she was willing).

  28. I have to say I’ve been pleasantly surprised with Ainsley Earhardt. I was expecting another “just smile and look pretty” girl (Friel) but she actually added to the conversation and seemed natural with Greg & Kelly.

    Comment by Gab — March 4, 2007 @ 11:19 am

  29. Uh Oh,
I liked Ainsley, too! What a pleasant surprise.

  30. For those that don’t know, Ainsley E. has been a reporter and anchor for the CBS affiliate in San Antonio for several years. She certainly has experience and I beleive she was fairly popular in South texas as well.

    Comment by Nate — March 4, 2007 @ 2:54 pm

  31. Roger C. it’s perplexing how you could think Gregg Jarrett would be an improvement over Greg Kelly (who I think is great as Correspondent OR can discuss “fluff stuff”). G. Kelly is in no way one-dimensional, he is multi-talented. However, I think we can all agree Courtney Friel was not a fit at all. Ainsley was OK, but they need to tell her to stop ruffling the papers near her microphone.

    Comment by sunshine — March 5, 2007 @ 11:45 am

  32. I really like Ainsley. She seems really genuine. She originally signed on with Fox as an overnight news update anchor, and I think she showed she is capable of a much better role. She is from my home state of South Carolina where she worked for the CBS affiliate WLTX as a morning anchor. She moved to San Antonio to work as a morning anchor at KENS. It was a huge jump in markets for her. Glad to see she made the jump to cable news!

    Comment by Robert — March 7, 2007 @ 10:31 am

  33. I would have to say that Kiran Chetry really screwed up. You hardly ever hear from her at CNN. Obviously, FOX had replacements in mind before she was let go. Courtney Friel will grow into the job and I really enjoyed Ainsley Earhardt. It will take awhile for them to develop chemistry with Greg Kelly and Kelly Wright. I don’t know that Greg Kelly is a good fit for Fox and Friends. They probably should have left Mike Jerrick and Juliet Huddy on the program and then found a third wheel to compliment them. I did think it was a bit unusual that Kiran and Chris Knowles were canned simultaneously and that Tiki Barber went to NBC. Was there something going on there???
