Harold Ford Jr. signs with FNC as contributor…
The Politico’s Anne Schroeder blogs that former congressman and 2006 Democratic Tennessee Senate candidate Harold Ford Jr. has signed on with FNC as a contributor…
Shenanigans has learned that former heartthrob Tennessee Rep/Chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council Harold Ford, Jr. has inked a deal with Fox News Channel as a political contributor.

Wow, this is very surprising. Fox is actually trying to be fair and balanced.

Yes, it’s shocking! I can’t believe they’re putting a Democrat on the air! That’s never happened before!

What a coup for Fox, in the past two weeks they just inked two of the most conservative members of their respective caucuses from the last Congress. And then someone will call it fair and balanced.

Signing Harold Ford does not make Fox News more balanced. He’s exactly the kind of Democrat they love. One who undermines his own party and runs on a Republican-lite agenda. The Tennessee Senate seat is one that the Dems should have picked up. It was an open seat (which are always much easier to pick up than defeating an incumbent) and Bob Corker was not the best candidate. It was one of the Dems only letdowns in ‘06 and Harold Ford’s “I’m gonna out-Republican a Republican” crap is at fault.
Fox can keep Ford and LIEberman (even though he’s not really a Dem any longer, his party is officially Connecticut for Lieberman!).

Good, I like this guy!

You just gotta love the mindset of these radical nuts like #4. They eat their own because they are not 100% lockstep with the libs but then praise people like Joe and Tucker on MSNBC for speaking out against the Republicans/Administration etc….
Comment by Lurker — March 7, 2007 @ 7:20 pm
I’m surprised!, six posts and not one lib has come on here and told us Ford has become a Republican.
Comment by puck — March 7, 2007 @ 7:38 pm
Puck, double-check that. Shaun’s tinfoil hat is highly tuned, as usual.

I’m really disappointed to hear this. The Ford family as a whole has a very shady background. I think there are 3 currently under indictments or under FBI investigation. That’s why JR lost in Tennessee…
Comment by VMart — March 7, 2007 @ 8:03 pm
Yea, Harold tried to blame racism for his defeat in Tennessee, but it was his family’s notorious reputation for corruption that sank him in the state. There’s always a Ford under investigation at any given time in the volunteer state.
Comment by spiffo — March 7, 2007 @ 8:37 pm
Shaun: No. The kind of Democrat Fox loves is somebody who is intelligent, articulate and handsome!
A great pick-up for “The Network America Trusts!”

When’s the last time CNN - with “the best political team on television” - actually used the ONE conservative - Bill Bennett - they have signed as a cointributor???
Why did they sign him if they aren’t going to use him?
Comment by erljr — March 7, 2007 @ 10:22 pm
erljr..To keep him off MSNBC OR FOX thay have him under lock & key and one less comservative voice .Smart move on the liberals chess game .
Comment by mike — March 7, 2007 @ 10:41 pm
i am glad they signed Harold Ford because I believe everytime they give him air time he will make fools out of the fox anchors and hosts much the way Wesley Clark does everytime he is on the air. They never many any sence against Clark and I believe Ford will take them to task. I remember some years back when Ford took ED hill and her friends to task over some remarks they made about Kerry. He left them gasping for air.

Ira — Well said! Fox is by far the network that gives both sides so the viewer can decide for themselves. That is a hard concept for many people who have just followed what the MSM has feed them most of their lives.
Comment by Aunt Mary — March 7, 2007 @ 11:59 pm
Well said alice… I can see why you wouldn’t think FNC anchors “never many any sence.”
Can’t say I’m surprised.
Comment by ImNotBlue — March 8, 2007 @ 12:06 am
That should have read FNC anchors never make any sense. I beg your pardon. Pardon me.
Comment by alice cervantes — March 8, 2007 @ 12:23 am
FNC should just call themselves the political entertainment channel. No wonder its operating budget is so small…have an anchor to throw out a headline, bring on two ‘contributers’ and bam…you have a ’story’. Too bad they just can’t report the news huh?
Comment by Me — March 8, 2007 @ 12:44 am
Yes, it would be much better if they had someone with no actual experience or credibility, just book smarts, tell me what to think. I’d much rather receive a lecture from a pretty face and a good voice, than a discussion or debate from experts.
If only they talked about news and current events… and not gumdrops and castles in the clouds. Duuuuuuh.
Comment by ImNotBlue — March 8, 2007 @ 1:10 am
Me, should there just be no discussion of the news?
What’s your idea of “news”? Having a producer write all the stories, have one anchor sit there and read the producer’s writing, verbatim, and just accept that person’s view of the story? Why would we want to have discussions about the news? God forbid, we might learn something. Or maybe be offered a valid viewpoint that no one else might have thought of.

Don’t bother reasoning with #13 - #14
They are what you call radical left-wing nuts.
Comment by Lurker — March 8, 2007 @ 9:22 am
I meant #17 - #18
Comment by Lurker — March 8, 2007 @ 9:26 am
I’m no Dem by a long shot but this guy is aiming at the White House for 2012 or 16 depending on the chip fall. He’s another one of “those” who are clean, articulate and stylin. FNC is in on the ground floor.
Comment by Roger — March 8, 2007 @ 10:44 am
I was always disappointed when FNC let J.C. Watts get away.
CNN snapped him up in a hurry. Perhaps FNC learned from this mistake.
J.C. and Harold Ford are bright young men who happen to be black.
I like them both.

Wonderful pick-up by Fox. Harold Ford Jr. is great on television, as is Rick Santorum by the way. I think FOX had a great week picking up analysts as they gear up for their political coverage.
