Olbermann Watch: Dead or Not?
There’s been some speculation the past few days about whether Olbermann Watch is truly dead or not. As some have noticed, when people would type the URL in it would just display the picture of a Possum. This has lead some people to wonder if the site was really gone or just laying low. I too thought about that when I saw the image but the possum pictured was road kill so I dismissed it. But now there’s a flash animation that plays when you type the URL in. The peculiarity of all this is that the last sentence in the animation asks about what happened to the content. This afternoon an email was sent out from the site’s former owner saying that people should log in to the site at 8pm tonight for a final message. 8pm of course is when Countdown airs.
So what’s really going on? I want to go out on a limb and suggest that there’s a redesign going on and that’s why the site went down. But it would be not at all nice for them to say they’re throwing in the towel and then come back with a re-designed site. I guess we’ll find out in 40 minutes…
UPDATE: It’s ALIVE! It’s ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!
UPDATE2: I have been reliably informed that this was not a PR stunt. They really were going to take it down. I guess the eruption of Schadenfreude at the sight of OW going down by the Blue Blogs changed their minds. I still don’t get why though. If the point of taking it down was because it helped to publicize KO, then bringing it up just to spite the Blue Blogs doesn’t change that. But whatever. In any case I no longer believe it was a PR stunt.

I’ll break out my bottle of Champagne Rosé if at 8pm they are live again. I cried when they closed.

Don’t really go there. Probably once or twice because of a video or something. Can’t be bothered with a loser like Dobermann but why shut it down? If the owner isn’t into it anymore and there is someone that is interested, why not let it live on with a new owner?

You miss the plan. Why do people miss the plan til its to late to stop it???Olbermann has gotten to them. Its gonna be a Olbermann watch - A worship Olbermann site.If ICN has any sense ICN would convert to a pro Olbermann site before Olbermann gets ICN too.

I’m with Spud here, after such a message from Cox when the site “closed,” it won’t look good if it reopens with a re-design. Why not just say “I’m turning the reins of Olbermann Watch to someone else… blah, blah, blah…” instead of a melodramatic “we are responsible for Olbermann’s success… blah, blah, blah”… I guess we’ll find out what’s happening soon… I’m intrigued…

Edward, toast away! It’s a redesign.

Olberman Watch is back!!!
Comment by phil — March 8, 2007 @ 9:06 pm
Of course that was me. I don’t like being had. And I don’t believe for one second that they decided to pack it in and then decided after it was down to bring it back but not bring it back right away but instead do a site re-design. I think this was all a PR stunt.

… and just for a moment, let’s revisit…

Ahem… “Ha-HA” to all those who felt victorious. Build ‘em up… to knock ‘em down. Well done, gentlemen.

OK I Give ! What the heck is Olbermann Watch?

Like Olbermann isn’t above a publicity stunt or three of his own? Well-played Cox. Well-played.

Seriously, why do you even give Cox the publicity he so desperately seeks. It’s such a waste of space. The guy is a fraud, he’s a terrible writer and his “Media Bloggers Assocation” is a damn joke. Any idiot can start a website about a popular online personality, why give him any credit. The guy is a dolt and a bore. You’re better than this Spud.

I’m impressed. Nice redesign. How about a “Worst Olbyloon in the World.”

Regardless of what you think of the site, the media treats OW with some credibility. That makes what the site does notable to a certain extent. I don’t agree with a majority of what’s written over there. But every once in a while they do score points in my book. And they do manage to get a lot of information on Keith Olbermann, usually before anyone else. The fact that they then use that information to skewer the man is irrelevent to me. I just look at the information for what it is, information. I separate out the spin.

Comment by Me — March 8, 2007 @ 11:46 pm
Wow, “Me.” You weren’t yawning back when you thought they were actually taking the site down.
“How funny…LMAO..Praise the lord the KO hate blog has been done away with. NOW, hopefully, J$ will close his “everybody hates us, fnc does everything right” blog. Comment by Me — March 1, 2007 @ 2:51 pm”
Perhaps you should take a nap… then you wouldn’t be so tired.

Wow. On a night to celebrate, I open a a mid/upper range Champagne Rosé at 42 dollars and I rather dislike it. DAMN IT. I WANTED TO CELEBRATE OLBERMANN WATCH’S RETURN IN STYLE

Is Johnny Dollar still there? I sure hope so. But I didn’t see any mention of his name….
