Snap. O’Reilly got a good night this week. Couple of those were weak. Broken record time: 3rd overall, 4th in the coveted, important, beloved all important key demo for KO. Who would have thought?
Comment by Edward Schatz — March 30, 2007 @ 8:09 pm
Edward: This may have been the best night for both O’Reilly and Hannity and Colmes for all of 2007.
Comment by Ira — March 30, 2007 @ 8:19 pm
Ira: You may be right. I missed O’Reilly last night. Anyone know what was on? And why did Deutsch have that one huge night earlier this week?
Comment by Edward Schatz — March 30, 2007 @ 8:21 pm
From the comments it on these threads it would seem that Countdown is doing terrible in the ratings, I wonder what would happen if you averaged out the numbers?
MSNBC 744 230
CNN 676 216
HLN 669 220
Wait, that can’t be right, Countdown just can’t be in second for the week can it? How could that be?
Comment by Steve — March 30, 2007 @ 8:24 pm
Steve, that number doesn’t mean anything. Monday he barely eeked Grace in the “demo” (which was a very big night for him), Tuesday he came in third overall and second in the demo by a mere 20k. Wednesday he came in second overall and FOURTH in the demo. Thursday was terrible. He’s all over the map. You can try all the numbers games you want, but the fact remains, your hero has no lock on second. Deal with it.
Comment by Edward Schatz — March 30, 2007 @ 8:34 pm
Steve,
I like to give you some help on fudging the numbers. If you use the formula 3m + 2o = b, where the variables m,o,b stand for mathews, olbermann, and bill you may be able to come up with some numbers for MSNBC that come close to those of BOR.
Comment by ChrisM — March 30, 2007 @ 9:29 pm
Pssst.
Hint to Steve, your supposed to say ratings don’t matter. Don’t you read your talking points.
Whatever happened to that “”FIRM”" grip on second place?
Comment by puck — March 30, 2007 @ 9:43 pm
It seems MSNBC’s totals are flat, but their demos are sinking. The demo and the demo/total ratio used to be their strong point.
Comment by erljr — March 30, 2007 @ 9:51 pm
“your supposed to say ratings don’t matter”.
Am I supposed to say some of you who clearly don’t like Olbermann certainly are obsessed with Olbermann’s ratings? And you certainly love to spin it, as long as you can do it in a negative way.
Why is that?
Comment by Mike — March 30, 2007 @ 9:52 pm
Mike,
I don’t like Olbermann & don’t watch his show yet I like to have fun with the ratings game because i remember when Olby defenders constantly played the “oh yeah, well look at his demo numbers” card. Plus, you hateful lefties are so high strung due to the amount of venom in your blood that it’s fun to pick on your last place hero & watch the foaming at the mouth begin.
Comment by ChrisM — March 30, 2007 @ 10:07 pm
Chris: WHERE did you get the idea I was a “hateful leftie”? The only “venom in the blood” I have seen is your’s, as evidenced in the rather hateful post that you JUST made in response to mine, which was not ‘hatefull’ at all. If you want to accuse people of being ‘hateful’ my friend, you better clean up your own act first.
Comment by Mike — March 30, 2007 @ 10:18 pm
I know it doesnt matter to you people, but Olbermann, though still in fourth at 10, his repeat has consistently gained viewers from the previous day.
Comment by Randy — March 31, 2007 @ 12:00 am
Can Tucker’s demo go any lower? Maybe a female co-host?
P.S. Randy — GO GATORS!!!
Comment by Aunt Mary — March 31, 2007 @ 12:12 am
Confused about the gator reference. Did i become a UCLA fan all of the sudden?
Comment by Randy — March 31, 2007 @ 12:49 am
Will we be seeing Countdown live at 10 pm in the near future? The demo number went down from Wednesday night, but it has gained viewers.
Comment by Marty — March 31, 2007 @ 1:28 am
You have made several references to the games vs the ratings, maybe I am confused — whatever — I thought you might be a rival, thought your team might be in the Final Four! Sorry — disregard!
Comment by Aunt Mary — March 31, 2007 @ 1:33 am
test…..test. Test,
Comment by Shady Grady — March 31, 2007 @ 10:14 am
Here are the true ratings: Most dishonest, irritating, biased- Odourman # 1, Hannty distant 2nd. Most arrogant, condescending, insensitive- Odourman #1, Matthews #2, Dobbs #3, OReilly # 4. Most fixated/obsessed on one topic- Odourman #1 (hate Bush et al), Greta #2 (ANS), Matthews #3 (Bush “scandels”). Biggest suck up to guest he likes- Matthews, king, Beck.
Comment by Shady Grady — March 31, 2007 @ 10:32 am
I wonder how Randy will defend MSNBC again haha
Comment by chet — March 31, 2007 @ 10:58 am
…..well chet, MSNBCCP certainly has its core audience and members of move on orgasm and the likes. What I don’t understand is why thier token “moderates”, Tucker and Scarbro doesn’t attract more viewers. It does seem like the political/social demo of MsNCCP must be almost entirely composed of lefties.
Now someone may surely say the same of FNC, but if they suggest that its viewers are almost entirely righties then you would also have to assume that well over half of the total viewers of cable news ARE right of center; which may be true??
Comment by Shady Grady — March 31, 2007 @ 11:21 am
Like someone on here said….MSNBC’s 25-54 demo is sinking….interesting.
Comment by Noelle — March 31, 2007 @ 1:14 pm
Imus Came In 2nd
Morning programs P2+ (25-54)
FOX & Friends – 766,000 viewers (280,000) 1st
American Morning – 372,000 viewers (144,000) 3rd
Imus in The Morning- 411,000 viewers (175,000) 2nd
Comment by Jason — March 31, 2007 @ 2:19 pm
O’Reilly- 2,844,000
Those are numbers Olby can only have wet dreams about.
Comment by puck — March 31, 2007 @ 3:01 pm
So true puck. Olby would just be happy to have the 844,00 viewers every night! (He can’t even get that).
Comment by Noelle — March 31, 2007 @ 3:12 pm
Good Old Lou Did a good job on keetho……….
I wish glen beck got higher ratings than hardball
How come MSNBC does no move hardball into the primetime??
I think they could get higher ratings if he was up against Cooper
Comment by Clak — March 31, 2007 @ 6:01 pm
Hey Chet, This is how i will defend them. With a show that is one everday, Im looking at the overall ratings for the week, and not just one or two days. Shady, Scarborough isnt doing so bad in the post countdown slot. He gets a decent 500,000 a night, which isnt bad for him. Tucker however doesnt get viewers because he has one of the most annoying personalities on TV. Also, lets be realistic, all the conservatives flock to Fox, so where is the appeal for JOe? Oh and talking about your stupid little ratings shady, I believe for the obsession category, you forgot to put Billo and his obsession with NBC news. But its pretty obvious your “true” ratings contain just a hint of bias.
Comment by Randy — April 1, 2007 @ 3:05 am
interesting Randy.. you have excuses after excuses for MSNBC… the fact is that Fox has both liberals and conservatives hosts and guests, and people like seeing a debate, and both sides presented.. im suprised network news and other cable outlets havent realized this yet? how long will it take?
Comment by chet — April 1, 2007 @ 11:35 am
If you actually watched other cable outlets and network news you would know they already did this. I don’t watch Countdown but from what I read here he doesn’t but that is only one program out of many. Also there is a big difference between simply having a guest on from the other side as a token gesture and actually having a guest on that can clearly express their opinion without being ridiculed, interrupted and/or having their comments spun.
Comment by myview — April 1, 2007 @ 12:24 pm
I think the problem with Joe and Tucker gaining an audience is they are middle of the road. My impression is they both take a moderate “I want to be loved by everyone” point of view. There is no Liberal or Conservative edge or passion to their opinion show. Very low energy and little enthusiasm. Maybe they are conservatives reading lines written by moderates. At times they seem pained by what they just read. However they seem like nice people but not provocative or principled
Comment by steve L — April 1, 2007 @ 1:18 pm
Chet, please tell me who the other liberal host is besides Alan Colmes?
Comment by Randy — April 1, 2007 @ 1:29 pm
Randy, logic 101: Talk about MY bias, get for real, BOR’s obsesstion with NBC?? How about your hero KO’s obsession with BOR, Fox
Comment by Shady Grady — April 1, 2007 @ 6:02 pm
29:
Joe has sold his soul to the left side so that he can keep his job on a network dominated by unhinged lefties.
Comment by eddiebear — April 1, 2007 @ 10:48 pm
Did i ever say that KO wasnt obsessed with BOR? No. You probably should have put that as a top obsession over him being obsessed with the bush admin. Him constantly being critical of the Bush admin is not obsession, but just disagreeing in everything they stand for, much like most democrats. But see, BOR is just as obsessed with Olbermann as he is NBC. This whole attack on NBC is simply his way of getting back at Olbermann. Because in the words of BOR, “You dont go after the rappers, you go after their masters.”
Comment by Randy — April 2, 2007 @ 3:37 am
Randy- just so you know BO supports civil unions, anti death penalty, pro enviornment, says now we shouldnt have gone to iraq…. doesnt sound like an ultra- conservative to me… greta also isn’t conservative.. then you have H&C…that’s the primetime lineup.. they arent all conservative, randy.. ps stop watching Keith Olbertrash
Comment by Chet — April 2, 2007 @ 10:21 am
Chet: Some of you Olbermann hater’s would have a little more sucess convincing others to “stop watching Olbertrash” if you would stop doing childish things like mangling his name. This takes all credibility away from your own viewpoint, which is something Johnny Dollar has never figured out.
Comment by Mike — April 2, 2007 @ 12:28 pm
Oh really Mike, you friend KO calls Fox the “FOX NOISE CHANNEL”.. sounds like he does the same thing? Hypocrite.
Comment by Chet — April 2, 2007 @ 1:39 pm
So Chet, your logic is that if Olbermann does it to another ‘News’ entity, it makes it OK for YOU to do it to HIM? No, sorry. Pointing that out your hypocrisy doesn’t make me a ‘hypocrite’, but it DOES make you a name caller.
Comment by Mike — April 2, 2007 @ 4:09 pm
Randy: Maybe I need to revise my Thursday night theory.
A new episode of CSI got a 14.0/22 share (Grey’s Anatomy had a rerun) and although it didn’t affect Hannity and Colmes, it may have hurt CNN where “Larry King Live” had an unusually low Thursday night overall number.
