Chris Wallace Q&A…

The Houston Chronicle’s Mike McDaniel has a brief Q&A with Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace…

Q) Who is your audience?

A) It isn’t the typical Fox News audience. The fact is we get the majority of our audience from the Fox broadcast channel. (It also airs 5 p.m. Sundays on Fox News Channel.) Channel 26 is not a conservative station. It’s the station of American Idol and 24 and local news. So as we’re watched by local stations around the country as we’re broadcast first on Fox broadcasting, I don’t think our audience is necessarily conservative.

  1. This guy is loopy. His show is in last place every single week with only a million viewers because he drives the FOX viewers away. The people who watch American Idol don’t give a hoot about this guy or show. He wishes he could score just 5% of that show’s audience. He gets the conservatives who aren’t in church. Duh

  2. Chris Wallace is a great host. I’ve wondered what is the percentage of Fox stations that carry FNS. I believe that’s a big part of the reason the show’s ratings have been lower.

  3. Ron, the moved This Week to a different timeslot in DC because it was getting beat by FNS. It’s certainly not in last place here.

  4. Scott: You hit the nail on the head. On the Left Coast, because of the NFL and NASCAR, Fox News Sunday airs at different times every week.

I’m surprised the liberals here haven’t yet made a stink because the FNS panel this week consisted on 2 conservatives (Hume and Kristol) and only one liberal (Liasson) because Juan Williams was on vacation and wasn’t replaced.

  5. I didn’t realize he was 60. He looks great for a man his age.

I’ve always been a fan of FNS. I catch it on the cable branch on Sunday evenings. I think they have a good mix of the interviews followed by the analysis by the panel.

Speaking of this past show - its a shame that Juan Williams wasn’t there. The camera crew has a knack of catching his “what the heck are you talking about” facial expressions when the ball is in Bill Kristol’s court….this past show would have been classic in that regard. Not taking sides here - I like that they have Bill Kristol on because he is an articulate conservative, as is Juan Williams. They mix it up very well and it makes for a good show.

  6. In my major left coast city these sports programs do not change the time of this show. I read in the Washington newspaper a few years ago this show is seen on more of the Fox stations then Face the Nation is on the CBS stations. I wonder what the real problem is?

  7. Trudy: A good guess is that you live in LA where the Fox owned affiliate is more loyal to network programs.

Here is the SF Bay Area, “Fox News Sunday” is shown either at 10am, 4pm or the ungodly hour of Monday at 2am!
