John Seigenthaler gets “NBCU 2.0′d”…

I was out today and came back to read email that John Seigenthaler’s last night was tonight. TVNewser has more. Obvious question…what does MSNBC do with all those “Investigates” intros and Lockup voice overs now that Seigenthaler is gone?

  1. It’s a shame that NBC News let John go. He was under used as it was and to now NBC 2.0 him is really sad. He should have been Brian Williams chief substitute, or at lease share the duty with Campbell Brown. He is too great a talent to waste on repackaging old Dateline stories for MSNBC. So here to hope that ABC News or CBS News will snatch him up in a hot minute. He belongs on network news. Maybe CNN, please CNN not Fox News. Pay attention ABC CBS and CNN.

  2. Good God don’t wish CNN on him, I wouldn’t do that to my worst enemy. Anywhere but CNN! Besides all the smart people are leaving CNN. Why can’t they replace Katie with him? He’s too professional for cable news, he’d be good at CBS. There must be contract clause that says if Katie’s ratings don’t pick up they can terminate her.

  3. Shawn,
Are you insinuating that a journalist sells his soul to go work for Fox News? I hope not because I think John Siegenthaler would be a great addition to the center chair on the Fox and Friends weekend show.

  5. I missed what happened with John Siegenthaler and I want to know why he either chose to leave or was terminated from MSNBC. John was one of the most pleasant, well-put-together and professional anchors on TV. There has to be a really serious reason that he is leaving. I wish someone would share that with me if indeed anyone knows. Despite all, I truly wish the best for John and I hope to see him again — perhaps in a more major way.

  6. I simply cannot believe that NCB let John go. He was the main reason I tuned in over the weekends. He was not only an intellectual newscaster, but he also had a very appealing warmth about him. Also, how could you replace him with Lester Holt with his thudding, heavy voice and unappealing personality. You are not playing a race game are you? Bring John back. NBC cannot be exactly in a financial crisis.

Shame on you. I would love to see him come back on another
next work. Someone she grab him.

  8. I’ll also miss Seigenthaler’s weekend newscasts. He’s one of the best and brightest in broadcast journalism — warm, perceptive, intelligent, always finds a new or different angle on things — and above all, a gentleman’s gentleman.

Please find this exceptional talent a good new work home, preferably as an anchor/reporter. He’s one of my top three favorites in the news business.

  11. I have for so long wondered what happened to John. When I found this blog, I was terribly disappointed that NBC felt a need to dismiss John Siegenthaler. I loved him. Does anyone know what has happened to him?
