Larry King’s 50th: Page Six rains on King’s parade…

On the eve of CNN’s Larry King week, Page Six conveniently puts up this little unflattering blurb…

LARRY King is a self-centered star who “gives celebrities a bad name,” according to a source who attended a screening with the CNN anchor in Bev erly Hills on Friday. “A few minutes into the film, he pulled out his cellphone and dialed a call and had a conversation. Not once, not twice, but at least three times,” our spy fumed. “And he received a call as well. His wife and her companion arrived 35 minutes into the film. Rather than duck down to avoid casting a shadow on the screen, they strode across the view, sat down, stood up to greet friends in the row behind them and then sat down again, after which she took out her cellphone, dialed a call and had a conversation. Then, near the end of the film, Larry stood up and loudly said to a colleague, ‘You’ll have to tell me how it turns out’ and left the screening room with his entourage. It’s the kind of ‘damn the rest of you’ behavior that gives celebrities a bad name.” King’s rep didn’t return e-mails.

  1. We have to remember that King grew up in a very different era — the Paleolithic to be precise. That said, his wife should know better, seeing as she was born in the late 1980’s.

  2. The only Page 6 item I will believe is this one. It sounds like ALL the “personalities” at CNN are getting big heads.

  3. Didn’t King just get a cel-phone for the first time a year ago?

  4. Isn’t the New York Post which runs Page Six connected to Fox in some way? They never miss a chance to print something negative about someone affiliated with CNN.

  5. Spud: “Conveniently?” Showing a little bias, Spud?

Look, while Larry King is to be commended for his career, who knows what he is in real life. Married eight times? A little prison time in Miami?

Perhaps he is no angel. And sorry gang, you can’t blame it on the New York Post.

  7. Yeah, I’ll look to more reputable liberal sources, like Jerry Springer when I want news.
