  1. now to gain credibility in the weather department, fnc needs to get rid of janice dean, the weather machine. what a joke she is!

    Comment by Me — May 8, 2007 @ 12:44 pm

  2. Janice dean is the worst weather person on cable tv

  3. I don’t see how Janice Dean is any worse then the other people, They seem to say the same thing to me, plus she has personality and not just some dull person doing the weather. If I want to be a whiny hardcore weather watcher I’ll turn to The Weather Channel.

    Comment by Lurker — May 8, 2007 @ 1:21 pm

  4. I love Janice Dean!

    Comment by Noelle — May 8, 2007 @ 1:32 pm

  5. THAT’S considered slick? Yikes….

  6. I don’t think that is one of the new graphics, I’m trying to get a few stills from the weather report in the 2pm EDT hour.

  7. I have to say, I like Janice Dean. I agree with Lurker; if I want to ‘hardcore’ weather, I’ll watch my local station. As for the graphics, they do look much nicer than the other networks.

  8. Janice Dean does a good job, even though she’s not a ‘meterologist’. Actually, most of the weather cast is put together by meterologists and graphic artists behind the scenes.

But if I want ‘hardcore’ weather I usually go to the Web. (http://weather.noaa.gov/ - no hype, just data.)

  9. I like Janice too…if you are watching FNC just for weather, you can go down the dial to the weather channel.

  10. Okay, Me, I get that you don’t like FNC, but going after the weather person? “Credibility in the weather department”? You’re seriously reaching. Janice does a fine job reading the forecast and is personable, witty, and gets along well with the hosts. That’s what a nationally broadcast weather person does, so I’m not sure what else you expect from her. More fair and balanced forecasts, perhaps?

  11. Over on MSNBC thay still use Etch-a-Sketsh for weather Graphics. ; )

    Comment by mike — May 8, 2007 @ 4:04 pm

  12. Mike, all the network’s have great graphics for the Weather, MSNBC utilizing NBC Weather Plus, and CNN having …. CNN, atleast FNC’s graphics for weather look a touch more serious than they ever did before.

    Comment by Chris — May 8, 2007 @ 6:07 pm

  13. Caufield, if you cut the cheerleader act for a minute you’d have to honestly concede that there is a huge difference between Dean and a real meteorologist. Otherwise you can continue to defend every thing associated with FNC and further erode what credibility you have left.

    Comment by Terance — May 8, 2007 @ 6:26 pm

  14. Terance, would you really be able to tell the difference between a “real meteorologist” and someone who stood in front of some maps and read the weather report? As a non-meteorologist myself, I doubt I could. In fact, I couldn’t even begin to guess which weather people are and aren’t real meteorologists. My point was that doing the weather isn’t rocket science, and for “Me” to treat it otherwise just so (s)he could attack FNC was a little ridiculous.

    Comment by Caufield — May 8, 2007 @ 7:03 pm

  15. Caufield, why yes I can and do everyday. Btw, did you notice Rick’s chyron doesn’t say “Foxcaster” anymore?

    Comment by Terance — May 8, 2007 @ 7:26 pm

  16. “Otherwise you can continue to defend every thing associated with FNC and further erode what credibility you have left.”

    And you have credibility …………. - Cause …………………… your a lefty ????????

    Please !

  17. Okay, Me, I get that you don’t like FNC, but going after the weather person?

Caufield: Next he’ll go after the guy that cleans the bathrooms!

    Comment by Ira — May 8, 2007 @ 7:47 pm

  18. Uh huh, check the threads, I’m an equal opportunity offender and defender. I don’t only rip or praise on a particular news channel like the cheerleaders/no credibility crowd. Btw, I’m an independent so save the typical “lefty” talking points. thanks!

    Comment by Terance — May 8, 2007 @ 7:53 pm

  19. Independent……. I love that !

So did you vote for bush or Gore and kerry ?

    Comment by uh huh — May 8, 2007 @ 8:20 pm

  20. I didn’t vote at all.

    Comment by Terance — May 8, 2007 @ 8:22 pm

  21. Run along now.

    Comment by uh huh — May 8, 2007 @ 9:17 pm

  22. I still don’t get why anyone would watch a national newscast for weather… unless there’s an emergency, watch the local news!

    Comment by ImNotBlue — May 8, 2007 @ 11:37 pm

  23. Weather Centre? You mean that green wall over there? ;)

    Comment by Mike Beckham — May 9, 2007 @ 12:25 am

  24. I simply can’t watch Janice Dean! Her over rehearsed hand gestures are stiff to the point of being comical. Her false sincerity on serious weather stories is just short of condescending. I’ll bet she’s a real mess behind closed doors. Can you say “coat hangers???”.

    Comment by Ben — December 19, 2007 @ 11:49 am

  25. I cannot stand to watch Janice Dean do her over-dramatic weather scenes. She seems to be trying to make her weather report into a SOAP OPERA. I find my self scrambling for the TV remote to change the channel every time she comes on TV.
please take her off the air !
