  1. Wow…AM really stunk it up yesterday (again)…and interesting to see Zahn beat Slobberman (again).

  2. What is going on with the ratings? Everybody seems to be down, except maybe Shep and Special Report. Is it the warm weather?

    Comment by Randy — May 9, 2007 @ 8:02 pm

  3. Why does Joe Scarborough keep having the same liberal guests? Are there no conservatives he can find to come on his show?

  4. Randy, that could be a reason. I know I have been out enjoying the warm weather this evening as opposed to watching news after work. I’ve been doing that for a few weeks now. When the humidity and mosquitoes arrive, I’ll be back indoors and in the AC watching TV again.

  5. Finally a conservative on Joe Scarborough. However, it is still 3(including Joe) against 1 conservative.

  6. Randy: Yesterday Drudge linked to an AP story that proclaimed that overall TV viewing was down 2.5% from the same period last year. Apparently the decrease is having an impact on cable news.

Interesting that last night “House” had the same demo as “American Idol.”

  7. That was Trace Gallager not Shepard Smith.

  8. Wow. KO finished another humiliating third in his key demo. I await the defense from his Olbyloons.

I bet he claimed tonight the Ft Dix arrests were a hoax in order to generate buzz and ratings sice his “Special Comments” no longer have the punch they did in the fall.

  9. #8 :

And, it’s entirely possible that when the DVR numbers are added in, House will beat American Idol, since more (supposedly) people watch Idol live.

Back on the subject of cable news, I hate to say it, because I like Scarborough, but he might be a little too deep in the morning. Tucker was so far my favorite, I guess. He was a little more light and easier to get when you first get up.

Hey, you know who they could get to fill-in? Don Imus! What’s he up to these days? I bet he’s available!

  10. ^and how does this relate to my point?

  11. solid day for Fox.. but seems like everyone was a a tad low.. maybe people are going out in the summer more haha

  12. High anxiety…Scarborough is really uncomfortable in his own skin in this time slot. How is it possible to mess up call-ins from CQ’s,Craig Crawford…yet Scarborough walked all over his every word (the guy’s got no sense of timing).

  13. I think it is safe to say that KO is stuck in the 500,000. Ouch! I don’t think he is viable anymore. Do you guys? Do you guys think he lost his steam?

    Comment by Noelle — May 10, 2007 @ 10:22 am

  14. I think that whenever you have a successful morning show, and you blow it out, you hurt the channel overall. Happens in radio and, I’ll bet, when this is all over, we’ll see it happens in TV, too.

    Comment by Dave — May 10, 2007 @ 12:46 pm

  15. I agree with #2 and #4. Right now the weather is beautiful outside. I give it two more weeks in FL and then I will be in the house with books, cable news and rented movies until October 1st. I will also be at the beach or in a pool. I will probably have to have a garage sale to pay for the electricity for the summer months. (Just kidding)

Lost his steam? Don’t get all hung up on day-by-day fluctuations. In the last full month — April ‘07 — compared with the same month the year before — April ‘06 –KO was up 60% (!) in the demo and 67% (!!) in the overall. That’s the very definition of not losing your steam. The numbers are available in this pdf doc.:

  17. Do these numbers reflect the people that used their DVR? And remember, about the 8PM stuff, that Idol is going to be pounding EVERYTHING in the ratings, so EVERYTHING in that time slot will be down.
