Page Hopkins gets the center chair on Fox and Friends Weekend…

ICN has learned that going forward Page Hopkins will be appearing on Fox and Friends Weekend with Greg Kelly and Kelly Wright. I think this is a great move by FNC. With her outgoing personality, Page is a perfect match for the show’s free wheeling format.

  1. Page is good choice and probably the only choice fox had. The only problem with her is she has a tendency not to know where the line between fun and immaturity is. It’s almost as if she tries too hard to be entertaining and she doesn’t need to.

  2. This is a great move by FNC. Page is a natural. She’s a perfect fit with the other two co-hosts, Greg and Kelly.

  3. Anyone but Friel would have worked, but I do think this is the best choice!

    Comment by Gab — May 10, 2007 @ 8:06 pm

  4. I soooo agree with “Gab” on this….ANYONE but Friel!!! Page was by far their best prospect for that job.

    Comment by Caty — May 10, 2007 @ 8:09 pm

  5. Good choice! They make the show fun to watch again. With Friel, it was increasingly difficult to watch.

  6. HALLELUJAH!

  7. Good, good, good. I liked Page the best. Now if we can get Tony Perkins a permanent position on F&F weekends, we’ll be set. LOL

  8. that is great news! they finally got it right with page - of course, i think she should be in the center chair weekdays but this is a big step in the right direction - maybe fnc is coming to their senses

  9. Now the question is, who’s going to be anchoring FNL Sunday Mornings? I personally would put a vote in for Browne, Uma, or Faulkner, but anyone else have any good choices?

    Comment by Chris — May 10, 2007 @ 9:12 pm

  10. Congratulations Page. I think Page is fun, engaging and will do just fine on F&F Weekend. The perfect choice in my opinion.

    Comment by F101 — May 10, 2007 @ 9:16 pm

  11. My other choice would have been alison camerato. I think page will fit nicely, but I do hope we will see more of alison. I was worried when Chetry left, they seemed to be such close friends. I hope Alison will get the FNL Sunday morning show!

    Comment by VMart — May 10, 2007 @ 9:33 pm

  12. Excellent choice! The show is meant to be relaxed and fun, so Page is the perfect fit.

    Comment by spiffo — May 10, 2007 @ 9:35 pm

  13. Hooray! The three make a terrific combination, and I’m glad to see Paige take that seat. The chemistry has been great!
    A wise decision by FNC.

    Comment by RGL — May 10, 2007 @ 9:37 pm

  14. Not who I wanted. I understand bout Friel. Guess you can’t make everyone happy.

    Comment by CrashCrew666 — May 10, 2007 @ 10:00 pm

  15. I’m also glad to see Page getting the center chair! I’m not sure that Alisyn wants more now that she has 3 young children. She may be happy with the 6-7 F&FF slot and then reading the news during F&F.

I hope Uma gets the FNL spot, I really like her.

    Comment by OverHere — May 10, 2007 @ 10:01 pm

  16. Yes, Page is very experienced and actually knows whats going on in the news. She actually analyzes the news, unlike…. cough….cough…cough…(Courtney Friel)… cough… oh my I just had a bad cough. WEll,can’t wait to watch Fox and Friends on weekends again.

    Comment by Joel — May 10, 2007 @ 10:03 pm

  17. Good choice - Page has done well in that slot.

As far as FNL on Sunday mornings, what about Briget Quinn? I haven’t see her on anything for a while.

    Comment by Missy — May 10, 2007 @ 10:14 pm

  18. Not sure if she is still off due to family issues, or just can’t get her standing again, but Quinn would be great either there or in her classic Weekday hours (well, 8 AM PT due to AN)

    Comment by Chris — May 10, 2007 @ 10:29 pm

  19. free wheeling format…so that’s what they call it. I would call it a free for all…a show about nothing.

    Comment by Me — May 10, 2007 @ 10:58 pm

  20. Congratulations Page.

I also would like to see Bridget Quinn more. I wish they would get rid of Jamie Colby, and replace her with Bridget. Much better choice for Sat and Sun.

    Comment by Barb — May 10, 2007 @ 11:20 pm

  21. I wouldn’t mind if you have both Page and Courtney on Fox & Friends Weekend!

    Comment by Enrico — May 11, 2007 @ 12:09 am

  22. I am so happy. I have to say, I had almost lost hope w/ FNC and how it had F’d around w/ the wknd hosts for months!!! Just terrible how they went about this.

    Comment by cathy — May 11, 2007 @ 1:01 am

  23. Wooo Hooo!! Finally, TPTB do something right … and smart!! The chemistry between Page and the Kelly boys is wonderful. They all know when to be serious and when to have fun.

    Comment by Tiamat — May 11, 2007 @ 6:41 am

  24. I am so please that fnc came to their senses. Page is the best so far.I now will watch. I just could not do it with Courtney. I also like Harris, Browne, and Uma for thel0:00 show on sunday.

    Comment by cathy — May 11, 2007 @ 8:09 am

  25. So glad that perpetual game of who’s sitting in the middle chair is over!!!

    Comment by Veronica — May 11, 2007 @ 8:32 am

  26. Paige is great choice! I hear Allison is going to be on a new show in the morning.

    Comment by Elizabeth Hadden — May 11, 2007 @ 8:58 am

  27. Noelle,
Yes, yes~ Tony Perkins in the other chair and all would be well.
But thank goodness Courtney is out of the picture.
Even that announcement for Fox. coooooooohhhhhmmmmmmm is horrible! Sliding down the voice scale.

    Comment by Cella — May 11, 2007 @ 9:21 am

  28. I don’t like any of the Fox and Friends people anymore. I
quit watching during the week and avoid it like the plague
    on the weekends.

    Comment by Liz — May 11, 2007 @ 9:54 am

  29. I have not heard of that word “skank” ever used before. I consulted my Roget’s and Webster’s, and I cannot find it. Can Paula, who has used it, explain what it means? I have also seen Courtney, and though I agree she is not the right personality for that center seat, I would be more gentle in my crtiicism.

Or would Spud, maybe, tell us what he understands with that word? It makes me scrach my head searching for a meaning, or an allusion to something. Thanks.

    Comment by RGL — May 11, 2007 @ 10:30 am

  30. Alyson C on a new morning show. I hope not. The line up is just fine the way it is.Courtney Friel is a beautiful piece of eye candy and nothing else.

    Comment by cathy — May 11, 2007 @ 11:11 am

  31. Elizabeth Hadden what have you heard about Allison being on a new show in the morning? Sounds interesting.

I like page and i think she was the best person for the Job. Would also like to see Tony on FNFW but if not then maybe another slot on the network. Courtney is best at showbiz stories

    Comment by craig gordon — May 11, 2007 @ 11:18 am

  32. I already took care of it before you posted RGL. I think. Maybe it was just after. Yes, it’s out of bounds.

    Comment by Spud — May 11, 2007 @ 1:51 pm

  33. Paige is the perfect selection…BUT…lose the current two dudes. Give Greg Jarret a shot for center chair and put Rebecca Gomez on his other flank. Who needs the sound? I’d watch if they only used the crawl.

    Comment by Roger C. — May 12, 2007 @ 10:16 am

  34. Here’s a Brainstorm. If they must have a person of color they could hire Rev.Al to come on board. What a hoot he would be if he could keep his hands off Paige.

    Comment by Roger C. — May 12, 2007 @ 10:22 am

  35. Yes, now I’m sure Greg Kelly beat you up or stole your girlfriend Roger.

    Comment by Susan — May 12, 2007 @ 2:25 pm

  36. Hey Susan…I’m free now so hows about you, me and drinks some time when Greg Kelly isn’t stompin my A?

    Comment by Roger C. — May 13, 2007 @ 8:00 pm

  37. Sorry Roger, I don’t want to die of thirst!

    Comment by Susan — May 14, 2007 @ 6:36 am

  38. Awesome shows this past weekend. Too bad Gregg Jarrett as well as the “Lips & Ears” segment were on the show. I wish they hadn’t let Rick Reichmuth take the weekend off for vacation. Was anyone else creeped out by McCuddy and the cooking segment with the chocolate/banana french toast??

    Comment by Tiamat — May 14, 2007 @ 7:11 am

  39. RGL — “Skank” is a word I never heard until it was used by my sister-in-law and a friend who live on different coasts. Simple definition: an attractive female who isn’t extremely bright, yet advances through life (personally and/or professionally) because of her body.

Sorry, I don’t think my comments were too much. Friel has gotten where she is because of her body (good example is scantily dressed on a pool table). I asked my husband if I was too critical and he said absolutely not. She has proven herself to be an extreme lightweight on not only F&F but on other shows. My husband and I specifically cited Shep and Neil’s shows.

You look at the credentials of Friel and compare them with others on Fox or any other news network. I don’t know many others that have been given star treatment for hosting a card game. My husband and I are still shaking our heads at how she landed on a national news network.

  40. Paula, I think she was hired and put on Fox & Friends Weekend right off the bat as a way to stick it to Kiran Chetry. Sort of like showing Chetry how easy it was to replace her with another attractive female, no matter how empty-headed she may be.

The fact that she was a poker show hostess and posed in her undies for some men’s magazine just emphasized the point to Chetry.

There are plenty of beautiful women with brains and a solid sense of what’s going on in the world who were already employed at Fox, and many of them could have been put into that slot.

But just like when Paula Zahn left FNC for CNN, and Roger Ailes said that he could have gotten better ratings in her time slot if he’d put a dead raccoon on the air, he had to stick it to Chetry.

    Comment by Amused — May 14, 2007 @ 10:48 am

  41. Now that the battle has ended and the centre chair taken let
us take time to bask in the sun and give the three hosts time to work out a format to please us all. I think that
the balance is just right and there is no room for a smoothy like Tony Perkins to take Kellys chair or should I say kel, no I wont lol. There is already a smoothy trying his luck to steal a chair but I am not into snidy so leave
well alone cuss it is just fine and smoothy’s and snidies
can look elsewhere. The show is good now so let the ratings climb and as for you Roger trying your luck with Susan shame
and as for your anti Greg words well if I saw you next to Greg Kelly perhaps I would be able to understand your jealousy better…lol

  42. Page Hopkins is undoubtedly better than Courtney. Her silliness will fit in well with the entire FOX morning show trend of 7 day a week mornings of silliness, soft news, and all the trashy celebrity news. First it was All Anna All the time and now it will be All Paris All the Time.

    Comment by M Mathis — May 14, 2007 @ 11:45 am

  43. It is all about balance dear poster 42 and I beg to differ about Page’s silliness, as you call it, she can deliver hard news just like her co hosts but as we all get to here the horror news of reality thumping at us all the time, soft news has its place too even if it is celebrity bunk but it gives us time to gulp air as we laugh before we here the next horror report that real hard news delivers and we do have a remote.

    Comment by Scrat — May 14, 2007 @ 1:31 pm

  44. I have read somewhere that Uma Pemmaraju is taking the 90-minute Sunday “Fox News Live” time slot (7:00 to 8:30 AM Pacific Time) that Page Hopkins used to occupy.

    Comment by Bob — May 14, 2007 @ 8:13 pm

  45. Ailes’ attempt to “stick it to Chetry” by putting Courtney on right away didn’t work. It only proved that Chetry couldn’t be so easily replaced. I think the dead raccoon would’ve been a much better choice than Courtney. Cujo would’ve been a better choice than Courtney.

With the exceptions of the control room glitches with the open mics, the shows this weekend were almost as good as they have ever been. They would’ve been better with Rick Reichmuth on the job as Weather Dude.

I wonder if Greg would be amused to know that I was laughing so hard at the show that I almost hacked up a lung???

I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us for this weekend’s shows. More cooking segments?? More FOXercise segments with Greg working out?? More doggy segments for Greg??

    Comment by Tiamat — May 15, 2007 @ 12:59 pm

  46. Can’t stop laughing - I’d never heard about the dead ‘coon comment re Zahn! Incidentally, the other day while at the hospital I was forced to watch (radiology tech wouldn’t let me change the change) Kiran’s new show on CNN. Let me tell you, I thought it was terrible. BORING. No chemistry or oomph whatsoever. Even the set looked dark. I don’t know how long that show and pairing will last.
