  1. Os ot just me, or are FNC’s debate numbers a tad bit underwhelming? Granted they swiped the competition right off the map, but I was expecting quite a bit higher considering MSNBC was able to pull in relatively the same figures as well…

  2. Paula Zahn’s numbers, woah…

  3. I think underwhelming is accurate Anon.

It is a reflection of the predictability of the message and the disgust for those giving it.

  4. Yeah I was expecting a lot more too.

  5. I figured FNC’s numbers would of been much higher.

  6. Again elmonique makes no freakin sense. All the Dems could muster up was 2.2 million viewers. It is a reflection of the predictability of the message and the disgust for those giving it.

  7. I think it has to do with the fact that we have 1 1/2 till the election. People are not going to be this interested this early and have it last that long. Whats left to say come the fall of the election.

  8. I think the numbers show that most Republican viewers (i.e. viewers who would be directly interested in and/or affected by this debate) are *already* tuned into Fox News. Can’t imagine why ;o)

    Comment by Jay — May 16, 2007 @ 9:55 pm

  9. Jay, there are more Dems and independents that watch FOX than the other 2 networks.

  10. I think it just goes to show that people aren’t really all that interested in the debates now. We don’t even have all the candidates yet! Why bother?!

I know the news nets thought this would be a great idea… but I think it’s proving to be a big waste of time.

  11. Independents? Maybe. Dems? I don’t think so. Atleast not anymore. It’s possible that they used to, back in Fox’s heyday of 2002-2005. One way to tell will be if the Dem party allows a debate on Fox, and the numbers drop. Although I don’t blame them if they don’t, but that’s another post altogether ;o)

  13. Number 1,
Where are you getting your numbers -”relatively the same numbers”???? The debate on MSNBC had just a little over a million viewers. FNC doubled that amount.

    Comment by Cella — May 17, 2007 @ 5:41 am

  14. Not quite Cella. Msnbc got 1.7 million total viewers and 561,000 in the demo for their Republican debate. Fox beat them but I think everyone was expecting huge numbers. These numbers, while good, are pretty surprising at least to me.

  15. MSNBC is tanking w/out Imus. They keep putting people in his chair expecting us to watch but if anything, it makes us miss him more. Olberman lost a lot of fans with his behavior last month too so expect his ratings to slide.

    Comment by Mel — May 17, 2007 @ 12:04 pm

  16. Time to say bye-bye to Paula…my goodness…Olbermann seems to have leveled off in ratings, he’s consistently in the 500-600 range…pretty good from years’ past. At least he isn’t losing numbers like Paula. I think the football & nightly news stuff will only help the slow and steady ratings rise for Mr. Olbermann.

  17. Cella, if you are going to be dead wrong, next time, don’t do it in a place where we can easily check the facts in a matter of minutes. Oh, and btw, the Democratic debate for MSNBC did 2.2 million viewers and 736,000 in the demo.
