Imus’ Slot: Mancow?
Johnny Dollar has the video from this morning’s Fox and Friends where Mancow says he was supposed to be doing the “Imus slot” on WFAN but it was killed because of an appearance he did on The O’Reilly Factor.
Gretchen Carlson said that that would have meant that he would have been up against them (Fox and Friends) but I don’t think that was a given. Since Imus’ dismissal only six WFAN broadcasts have been simulcast on MSNBC; three by David Gregory and three by Jim Cramer. The rest have not. Given that FNC has some sort of deal with Mancow, he would probably be contractually prohibited from appearing on MSNBC’s air. Even if he wasn’t, it’s doubtful MSNBC would put him on as a tryout given that he’s an FNC regular.

I would of liked to of seen Mancow have a shot at Imus’s slot. I think he is hilarious and cute to boot. I’d watch!!

Oh me too! He is the funniest guy and I love watching him on Fox and Friends and wish they would let him speak more instead of interrupting him. He is hilarious!

Mancow embarrassed himself on The Factor and Hannity and Colmes and I would be shocked if he was back on Fox anyways.

Huh???? What are you talking about Chad?

Noelle: For the record, I wrote a blog piece last week suggesting a “trade:” Mancow to MSNBC and Imus to Fox Business Channel, PERMANENTLY.
As they say in sports: it is a trade that helps both teams!

Interesting Ira, you might have something there….I forgot about FBC. I wonder what type of morning show they will have?
Comment by Noelle — May 25, 2007 @ 11:45 am
FOX Business Channel is going to have BUSINESS shows. Rupert and Roger already vowed to be different from CNBC, so don’t expect lots of infomercials or FOX programming like American Idol to show up on FOX Business Channel in primetime.

Yes, Chad. Tell us what you are talking about.
Thanks.
Comment by Cella — May 25, 2007 @ 12:41 pm
okay, who is Mancow?
Comment by Melanie — May 25, 2007 @ 1:36 pm
I’m talking about the whole Opie and Anthony issue. He doesn’t like them he wants them off the air and he was bringing in his personal issues against them and not being objective. I’m not sure why they take what he says serious.

Chad: Tonight Mancow was on Hannity and Colmes talking about Rosie.
Melanie: Do a search, find his website and then listen to one of Mancow’s podcasts.

Ira,
I caught that, I thought the only one who was consistent was Allan Colmes, he stated if you get rid of people who you don’t like to listen to, the next time it could be somebody you like to listen to. D.L.Hughley said it on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno about Free Speech, on the Imus comment. D.L., stated, I am for Free Speech, there isn’t any in between, you are either for it or against it. D.L., also said Imus shouldn’t have apologized, it was a joke. There is an old saying about stick and stones and words can never hurt me.

Words can hurt though.
Comment by Noelle — May 26, 2007 @ 12:26 pm
Really you mean you physically bleed from words, you have cuts, scars, head wounds? Everyone’s feelings are their own responsiblity, you don’t want your feelings hurt, don’t put them out there to be hurt. Why do people think being overly sensitive is somekind of badge of honor? like posturing as a Victim is attractive? I believe it is an insult to real Victims who have no choice. There is no RIGHT in this country not to be Offended. I do understand that people in this country have been conditioned to be victims. Nothing is ever their own responsibilty, it is always somebody else’s fault, no personal responsibilty- for their own feelings. Somebody I don’t know, can’t hurt my feelings with words, this is a personal choice. This idea that you can be personally wounded, with words from someone you don’t even know, is Herd mentality.

Ree: I thought that Alan Colmes completely missed the argument.
Unlike Imus, Rosie’s situation had nothing to do with offensive or free speech; she was unable to handle any criticism from either Hasselbeck or the media and QUIT before her contract expired.
To reiterate: “The View” did not got rid of Rosie, she got rid of “The View”!
Comment by Ira — May 26, 2007 @ 1:36 pm
Ira,
You don’t think Rosie, was watching the critism, the reporting? I think Rosie, was keeping up her end, she brought the View’s ratings up right? it was “theater” but I am guessing that is the demographics for the View? Did she quit or did Barbara Walters say thank you, we will end on the “Big Blowout” This is all anyone appears to be discussing this Memorial Day Weekend. I don’t watch the View, I am not their demographic. I admit I am leary of anyone on TV or Radio, abruptly leaving..I am an Imus Fan…it seems we could get into a tit for tat thing…then all we are going to hear about is Paris Hilton’s driving record. My husband is in the Army and I was paying attention to what the arguement was about between Rosie and Elizabeth. End of the day they both were expressing their opinions…Democracy and Free Speech isn’t always pretty, until they come up with something better it is all we got.

REE & we had damn well better protect it, even if that means peoples little feelings get hurt with words….when CENSORSHIP is FULL BLOWN we are all going be HURT…control their minds, control the masses, it’s been used very successfully before & when people don’t learn, history repeats itsself….Ira, Colmes point was dead on, when anybody is sanctioned for their words, a dangerous precinct is established & it makes it easier for the establishment to take out the next one, until there are NONE…Imus & rosie are apples & oranges, that’s NOT what Colmes was expressing…..BOYCOTTING MSNBC/CBS/alledged “liberals”
Comment by Ms. M — May 27, 2007 @ 10:09 am
Ms. M: I’ll reiterate what I wrote above. Rosie was not sanctioned or censored.
Her contract with “The View” had three weeks to go but she quit.
Imus was fired.
