  1. I love Red Eye, but Rachel doesn’t add anything to the show. There just isn’t any chemistry with her and the other hosts/guests. I don’t think she’ll be missed.

  2. She’s batty and her being hired is as baffling as Courtney Friel being hired by Fox.

In Courtney’s favor, I’ll say that she’s not an apparent psycho hosebeast and probably won’t have to be forcibly “escorted” from the building.

  3. Ira, will there be a “smear campaign” to follow this FIRING?

    Comment by Terance — May 30, 2007 @ 8:37 pm

  4. Interesting. Wasn’t FNC “grooming” her to be the next Ann Coulter? Wouldn’t surprise me though that woman is bonkers. And I agree with TBDave, RedEye is a fun show but Rachel tends to bring in down.

  5. I like Rachel on the show. I like how the guys rib on her and play off her comments. I hope she’s not gone. From that article a few days back, Wasn’t she hand picked for the show by Roger Ailes? Anyone know what’s that comment on Gawker that Julia Alison is banned from Red Eye? lol

  6. I guess this is standard practice when a person is fired from any of these news stations. It was reported that Kiran Chetry was also escorted from the NewsCorp building the day she was canned. Her hubby had to go in and clean out her office. I guess no business wants to take the chance of a disgruntled employee perhaps doing something dirty on their way out.

  7. You would have thought a smart guy like Roger Ailes would have looked into her past? She was involved in quite a scandalous situation years back in British Columbia,Canada involving her swimming coach which lead to him getting fired.Watch out Fox,she likes to stir up trouble,I’ll bet a lawsuit is on the way! Good riddance Rachel, you brought nothing to Red Eye!

    Comment by BernieO — May 30, 2007 @ 9:03 pm

  8. california dreamin: I can picture Kiran being calmly walked out by guards in a quiet manner, while Rachel probably had to be lifted by 2 guards under her armpits, carried kicking and screaming out the back and tossed past the FNC star who chainsmokes outside.

  9. I caught the show the other night when Julie Banderas was a guest, and she was great! She’d be a good replacement, smart, sassy, and very easy on the eyes.

    Comment by spiffo — May 30, 2007 @ 9:10 pm

  10. Amused, Who is the FNC star that chainsmokes outside? Shep Smith?

You’re wrong. Alot of the funniest moments on Red Eye is when the guys play off her comments. Also lots of funny moments with her when Levy does his half-time reports.

Julie Banderas was pretty good on FNFW so I thought she would be great on Red Eye but imho she sucked. She just wasn’t the same.

The best FNCer’s on Red Eye were Janice Dean, Rebecca Gomez, Laurie Dhue and maybe Cheryl Casone.

    Comment by Lurker — May 30, 2007 @ 9:20 pm

  12. california dreamin: I’m not sure this person wants it known publicly.

    Comment by Amused — May 30, 2007 @ 9:21 pm

  13. Well I went to her site and this is what was posted

May 30/07: A note to inquiring Red Eye viewers: I will no longer be appearing on the show, as I have been told that it is heading in a “different direction” and I am the “first casualty”. As a political and hard news commentator, being involved with such an off-the-wall-and-into-orbit show was an interesting experience. It was also the first time that I was ever considered the “sane one” on any program, so I am grateful for that opportunity and wish the boys the very best of luck.

  14. This is just another case of someone making a good first impression to the boss(Ailes),and nailing the interview…But like a lot of young people today, they lie ,cheat or steal in order to get that job…Rachel being a great example…this woman has more skeletons in her closet than a haunted house!#13 you have a point with Laurie and Rebecca, these women Rock…but they unfortunately have full time committments to FOX on other shows.

    Comment by BernieO — May 30, 2007 @ 9:33 pm

  15. Amused, Oh, Okay, it isn’t Shep because he has already told his viewing audience that he smokes. I think FOX has lots of smokers, although I think they have one less now that Chetry is gone.

Back to the thing about being escorted out by security guards-I actually know of a couple of people who’s positions were phased out at their places of employment, and while they weren’t fired for any wrongdoing, they were still escorted off the company property by security. To me it’s kind of heavy handed, especially if one hasn’t done anything to warrant this kind of treatment.

    Comment by california dreamin — May 30, 2007 @ 9:33 pm

  16. california dreamin: I didn’t realize that Shep had told his viewers. He was the one I meant.

I don’t think it’s the skeletons in her closet that got her booted from the show. For like a month or so I sensed tension between the guys and her. Like Greg not calling on her practically the whole show and the guys saying she wasn’t funny. Seems they want the whole show to be a laughfest with no breaks and most of the time Rachel would kill the mood if they can’t play off her comments. I think Greg had alot to do with the firing.

    Comment by Lurker — May 30, 2007 @ 9:39 pm

  18. Lurker you are right …it wasnt her past that got her fired from FOX,probably Greg had some issues with her. Its just the fact she got on that show in the first place,I remembered the name and Googled it months back and low and behold…there are a lot more gifted and talented people out there… way better than that psycho!!!

    Comment by BernieO — May 30, 2007 @ 9:52 pm

  19. Lurker, TBDave & Terance: I’m not surprised.

Lurker, I always thought that Rachel brought some tension to the set. And last Thursday night, Samantha Judge appeared in Rachel’s seat and she was great. Along with the guy from “VH-1 Best Week Ever” who sat next to Schulz, it was perhaps their best show ever.

  20. I think it’s amusing that she said “It was also the first time that I was ever considered the “sane one” on any program”. Did anyone consider her the “sane one”?

    Comment by lightswitch — May 30, 2007 @ 10:05 pm

  21. Amused, I heard Shep mention that he was a smoker on Studio B a few times, and there are also a couple of articles on Shep where it mentions him smoking. I don’t think it’s any secret. With Shep, I think those cigarettes add something to his voice. He has this very rich type of voice that really sets him apart.

    Comment by california dreamin — May 30, 2007 @ 10:08 pm

  22. Let’s get Bernard McGuirk on the show. He would be outrageous and hilarious.

Also anyone know about Julia Alison being banned from Red Eye? I read that on Gawker.

    Comment by Lurker — May 30, 2007 @ 10:13 pm

  23. Lurker: I believe that Allison appeared last week.

    Comment by Ira — May 30, 2007 @ 10:17 pm

  24. Hey Amused, you don’t need to be posting links to that old story. I covered it already here

    Comment by Spud — May 30, 2007 @ 10:21 pm

  25. According to the Gawkers, she was banned last week

  26. Ira, Did she? I know a Alison Barrie was on last week.

    Comment by Lurker — May 30, 2007 @ 10:22 pm

  27. OK, Spud - I was just going to original sources and not Salon, which admittedly has a political ax to grind.

    Comment by Amused — May 30, 2007 @ 10:26 pm

  28. Thanks for the link Amused

    Comment by Lurker — May 30, 2007 @ 10:27 pm

  29. Without mentioning the name, I’m told she got into a verbal tiff with a non-Red Eye show host about a month ago. He was going from make-up to studio in a hurry and she blocked his path while talking to an intern. When he said something rude-ish, she “alledgedly” wiped wet fingernail polish on his tie.
Mind you this is a story I heard from someone who was in the building but not eye-witness to the scene.
I was told then she would be let go as soon as contract allowed.
    shrug.

  30. No prob, Lurker. Gawker seems to have tipsters on the inside of a lot of places.

    Comment by Amused — May 30, 2007 @ 10:29 pm

  31. Further according to the Gawkers, she posts on an EZBoard as Missy Tee and affects a jive-talking persona, for some reason: http://p098.ezboard.com/Missy-Tee-Toast/ffranksters77603frm7.showMessage?topicID=1244.topic

  32. Was Samantha Judge the hot blonde with the big boobs? If so, you was fantastic!

    Comment by TBDave — May 30, 2007 @ 10:32 pm

  33. Sorry, I meant… “If so, SHE was fantastic!” That was an excellent episode.

Bernard McGuirk would also be a great addition. But they need at least one chick they can sexually harass.

    Comment by TBDave — May 30, 2007 @ 10:35 pm

  34. #29 - Sounds like Shepard Smith????

Fox Report starts at 7, Red Eye tapes around 8:40ish so she’s hanging around in the meantime???

    Comment by Lurker — May 30, 2007 @ 10:45 pm

  35. Lurker: O’Reilly would also fit. He’s a host, his show is on at 8 and he can be brusque.

I know she was on Smith’s afternoon show once. She made a semi-obscene crack (something about what’s in Bill Clinton’s pants), so he quickly ended the segment and she has never been back on his shows again.

    Comment by Amused — May 30, 2007 @ 10:50 pm

  36. TBDave: Yes, and Samantha also has a few sexy tattoos. I hope she is the permanent replacement for Rachel.

Amused: Marsden did appear last night and until Cheryl Casone came aboard for the final half-hour, was the only female on the set.

Lurker: I thought that Julia Allison appeared last week but of course, I could be in error. I have seen Julia occasionally appear on other FNC shows.

    Comment by Ira — May 30, 2007 @ 10:56 pm

  37. Ok Lurker, how do you know Red Eye tapes around 8:40-ish?

    Comment by Spud — May 30, 2007 @ 11:20 pm

  38. Spud,
One of the profile pieces about Greg Gunbard mentioned that taping begins around 8:30, 8:40-ish. (Which makes sense, considering they call Greg’s mom - who is very “long-lived” - to talk about what she saw on the O’Reilly Factor. I can’t imagine she’d stay up much later.)
(Also, I never thought I’d be here backing Lurker up. Eeep!)

O’Reilly typically tapes somewhere around 5 o’clock (sometimes 4, but I think it’s usually about 5), unless he has to go live for some reason.

    Comment by Charles — May 30, 2007 @ 11:30 pm

  39. Here’s the article which reveals Redeye tapes at 8:40, about 7 or so paragraphs down:

  40. LOL, Thanks for the backups

I’m not some FNC mole lol

Yea, It was in one of the Red Eye articles I read

As for it being BOR, I don’t it is. She has appeared on BOR as a Canadian correspondent? and she has pictures with him at a studio so they seem like friends.

    Comment by Lurker — May 31, 2007 @ 3:53 pm

  41. Amused, anyone who has seen Shep go on one of his rants when someone bans smoking pretty much knows that he’s a chain-smoker. Plus, I hear the man stands out on a public street in the busiest city in the country smoking after Studio B. It’s hardly a secret! :)

    Comment by OverHere — May 31, 2007 @ 9:26 pm

  42. I watch the show last night and it was full of pregnant pauses. It’s unwatchable. This piece of crap needs to be flushed asap.

    Comment by snoozer — June 6, 2007 @ 6:31 pm

  43. This show truly sucks as is…the host needs to go back to writing for lame magazines that teenagers use for masturbatory material. I guess his huge ego wouldn’t let him blame his sh** show on himself so he has to blame it on other people. The only truly talented person on the show is the guy that does the half-time report. Get it off the air and free up the time slot. Fox should leave the edgy comedy to Stewart and Colbert and stick with the news. They have had two failed attempts at trying lure in the late night college crowd.
