B-Roll blues: Another update…
Well I thought this story had been put to bed earlier but apparently not. Now after a Conyers aide earlier appeared to suggest the issue was resolved, a subsequent statement comes out blasting FNC. Read between the lines and it seems to me like Conyers’ camp is trying to take advantage of the situation with the jacked up second statement which in my opinion is nearly a 180 in tone from the first statement. The Washington Post’s Mary Ann Akers blogs about it…(via TVNewser)
First statement:
“They indicated that they had a staffer in New York who just hit a button and ran the wrong B-roll. They were very contrite about it and we take them at their word,” the aide, who asked not to be named, said.
Second statement:
“Fox News has a history of inappropriate on-air mistakes that are neither fair, nor balanced. This type of disrespect for people of color should no longer be tolerated,” Conyers said in a statement issued today. “I am personally offended by the network’s complete disregard for accuracy in reporting and lackluster on-air apology.”
UPDATE: TVNewser has an FNC insider talking about today’s events. It seems my read on the dual statements was dead on target.

I don’t believe that’s nearly as bad as the time MSNBC accidentally added an extra “g” to the first name of CORE spokesman Niger Innis.

Stuff happens. It wasn’t intentional. I made mistakes before. Everyone has. Why do some people always have to make a big stink about EVERYTHING. I see a pattern here. What? Are they going to strike FOX News now? LOL

Conyers will try to use this to cancel the black debate on Fox…
hat a shame these politicans think more of moveon.org and the extremist, and not the constituants.

It’s typical of the Dem party. They just want to attack FNC to try to marginalize the channel because any viewpoint that doesn’t go along w/ theirs shouldn’t be allowed.
No doubt Howard Dean called Conyers and told him to blast him. Anyone wanna take bets on that?

Oh, get off your high horse Mr. Conyers and find someone who actually cares.
It happens. CNN put a big X over Chenney’s face during a speech, where was his outrage then? CNN has a history of disparaging the current administration. I don’t recall him complaining about that incident, or all the other for that matter, of disrespect. Get over it.
Of course he throws in the race card. We have got to stir up trouble where trouble doesn’t exist, and that is the only card he could play. Sounds like he may have had a talk with Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson before releasing that statement. Rep. Conyers should get back to doing what he is paid by his constiuents to do, “Work”.

Don’t forget that NBC’s Brian Williams once called Harold Ford, Barack Obama during the State of the Union.

Playing the victim/race card, as usual.

Oh when the shoe is on the other foot! How funny. Look at FNC’s track record. It speaks for itself.

What a bunch of cr*p.
I work in television… I’ve made mistakes… and the wrong video has gone to air! It happens! And further more, it’s very easy for a mistake like this to happen!
But not surprisingly… the people who hate, will use any excuse to justify their hate. Pathetic. Get a life.

At least BO is not afraid to state it. The rest of the crowd from the other channels are just jealous. If they weren’t they would get off the kick of trying to ruin him. You don’t seem to care what the dems do if it is stealing or adultry (sic) it is ok. It is not ok when the rep. do things RIGHT…If you don’t like BO turn the channel. I don’t watch him every night because I am not interested in what he is discussing. I TURN THE CHANNEL.

It’s like walking on egg shells with these dems. You never know when your gonna “offend” someone. What a bunch of limp wristers.
Do you really believe that they could be elected to congress being a pansy. Well maybe if you believe that those who elected them are too.
The real fight is not between Conyers or Fox. This is just a distraction, to buy a little time.
The real fight is between The Congressional Black Caucus (The new Shakedown artist’s) and Madame speaker Pelosi. These lingering ethics charges against Jefferson will open a oozing sore and drive a stake between the Democratic leadership (Ehhmm) and the black caucus.
It should be fun to watch.
