Thompson on FNC…
FNC’s Carl Cameron had an exclusive interview today with potential presidential candidate former Senator Fred Thompson. In the interview, Thompson remarked on whether he is an outsider in the presidential campaign…
I don’t use that term. I don’t know what it means really. You don’t have to be from Alaska or Hawaii to see what it is wrong with the way your government is operating. And I have been critical when I was outside and I have been critical when I was inside. And now I’m critical again.

Outsider? The guy is a Washington lobbyist!
This is a typical of FOX “news”. Asking laughable questions to GOP politicians.

MikeD, what’s laughable is your obsession with FOX and Republicans.
Thompson WAS a lobbyist. He isn’t right now. What would you prefer, a hard hitting interview from CNN’s Larry King or MSNBC’s Olbermoron?

You wanna see laughable? Get a tape of Chris Matthew’s softball interview with John Edwards a few days ago. How many leading questions can one guy ask?
Better yet, search Youtube for a clip of Olbermann’s interview with Bill Clinton. The one where he handed him a big check. I was expecting KO to finish off the interview by putting on a blue dress and getting on his knees.

“Outsider? The guy is a Washington lobbyist!”
He doesn’t claim to be an outsider. That’s the media term applied. He lobbied for about 6 clients, making chump change next to his legal work. Go find something better than tired old dailykos attacks. They tried that one on him in 1994 and he cleaned his opponents clock.

Watching the interview, I just thought Fred had the “losing weight but not in a good way” kind of look. I know he’s got a treatable form of cancer.

DanOregon… I imagine he’s got a much more active schedule now. Maybe I should follow him around! :)

Olivia, if you follow him around, can you PLEASE ask him to speed up his speech pattern, just a little bit?
He does have some good ideas, but it’s often painful waiting for him to get it all out of his mouth.

Amused… I think it might be a southern thing. I used to work in a customer service call center and speech patterns are so different across the country. In the NE people speak rapidly and seem abrupt. Southerners speak more slowly. Some people equate that with being not intelligent. Not true (as I’m sure you know.)

Olivia: As I said, I like some of his ideas, so it’s not a matter of thinking that he’s not a very intelligent man. But I’ve also heard and spoken with enough Southerners (some of the smartest and most patriotic people, btw) to know that most don’t have an excrutiatingly slow speech cadence.

We just need to listen to his message. I would rather take the time to listen to and agree with his message than support someone who speaks quickly yet I disagree with more than half their message. That’s just me.

Aren’t all of Fred’s interviews exclusive with FNC? It means nothing to me at this point.

Fred looks sick. If it’s a diet then stop it. If it’s an illness then cure it. Nobody wants the prez to look like he’s a leftover from the “forearm tattooing” camps.
