  1. A few observations:

-”Morning Shmoe” sound didn’t go out yesterday…what’s his excuse for sucky numbers now?
-Beck did OK all things considered IMO, although 3 back-to-back hours of GB is a bit too much IMO (some would argue even 1 is too much)
-For the holiday week, the numbers seem quite good, no? I mean even at 10pm, Cooper actually BUILT on his demo number by a bit and overall the numbers have seemed to upticked compared to a month or so ago

  2. MSDNC #s should be good today since they had a full day of Scooter Libby. KO should get a boost from the libs from his comments tonight.

    Comment by Alix — July 3, 2007 @ 7:29 pm

  3. I disagree Alix. I think that tonight’s “Comment” will fall flat because of it’s timing. It’s July 3rd… people have the day off tomorrow, so the television audience may be out celebrating, drinking, and traveling. I can’t imagine anyone doing really well tonight.

The “Comment” may get good play around the web for the rest of the week… but I don’t expect any better-than-normal numbers for it.

  4. #3 You may be right. MSDNC sure was hyping Scooter all day and milking it as if all the libs will stay home to watch it. MSDNC needs something to to keep the libs happy.

  5. Darn it! Libby’s sentence is commuted and that still can’t pull KO back into his “lock on second place”.

Can’t we concoct another scandal so Olbermann can go back to bragging about his ratings?

  6. The O’Malkin Factor pulled in quite a respectable number overall and in the Demo. Just imagine if O’Reilly hadn’t been off..

  7. Wait for it……wait for it…..Keith “Solid Second” Olbermann strikes again.

    Comment by Edward Schatz — July 3, 2007 @ 9:58 pm

  8. Michelle did great! She should be Bill’s permanent substitute host. In other words, Fox, no reruns should EVER be aired when a good substitute like Michelle is available. And/or, give her her own program!

    Comment by Missy — July 3, 2007 @ 10:23 pm

  9. I watched the press conference with Tony Snow this a.m. — they were pounding Snow with stupid repeat questions — I think this is only of interest to those in the beltway and the hardcore left. This was a great stroke of luck for Joe Wilson, he had “NOTHING” going for him, now he is much richer.

Olbermann seems to be losing his hold on the younger crowd, maybe he has become as “BORING” to them as he became to me.

  10. #8: My feelings exactly. I feel jipped (sp?) when it’s a rerun, disappointed when its the former congressman John K. - but Michelle is on a par with Bill - she should be permanent guest host. Laura was good but I think that he passed her off to H&C because of her continuous criticism of him for showing sexually provocative footage (spring break etc.). Never bite the hand that feeds you!

  11. #1 “Morning Shmoe”….. what’s his excuse for sucky numbers now?…..”

    It’s rather simple………. The show sucks !

  12. Beck fatigue. Thats how i explain Beck’s low numbers especially at 9pm.

I would also like to note that he was 4th, 4th, and 5th in the demo on monday.

Comment by Chris (My Two Sense) — July 4, 2007 @ 1:12 am

  13. I can’t believe it - O’Reilly was gone tonight, and instead of Michelle, they put on a lousy rerun. Yet there’s tons of news that’s happened today.

Fox, knock it off with the O’Reilly reruns and put on Michelle, Laura or even John Kasich. But these reruns are ridiculous!

If H & C and Greta can go live, they can put someone in for O’Reilly when he’s gone.

    Comment by Missy — July 4, 2007 @ 1:36 am

  14. And another thing - at 11 p.m. ET, AC was covering the release of the hostage held by Hamas. Fox was showing the O’Reilly rerun; MSNBC their doc bloc. So I guess CNN really does devote itself more to news than do the others, in this and other cases that I’ve noticed.

    Comment by Missy — July 4, 2007 @ 1:44 am

  15. “I can’t believe it - O’Reilly was gone tonight, and instead of Michelle, they put on a lousy rerun.”

And yet that rerun will still beat poor’ol KO even after his super duper Bush should resigned “Special Comment” tonight. :)

  16. I’m a Michelle fan also. In my opinion she is the best sub for Bill.

    Comment by Noelle — July 4, 2007 @ 10:56 am

  17. Missy and Noelle — I very much agree about Michelle, she is such a quick thinker and more informed than most of the headliners of Fox, CNN or MSNBC. One of the three will give her a show in the next year or so. Laura is to stuck on herself and John is boring.

    Comment by Aunt Mary — July 4, 2007 @ 4:06 pm

  18. One problem: he’s a populist, she’s a true-blue conservative. But there is really no Bill O’Reilly clone to put there; and I agree she is the best sub he’s got. Also, she’s much more comfortable in the chair than she was a year ago.

    Comment by erljr — July 4, 2007 @ 6:00 pm

  19. Can Morning Joe sink any lower? I predict Keith’s ratings will continue to decline. He’s lost his edge and is just an angry, mean lib.

    Comment by jules — July 5, 2007 @ 9:40 am

  20. Morning Joe is so bad…it shows that there is absolutely no leadership at MSNBC, in that they are letting this trainwreck go on and on and on.Joe is a terrible host…he never , ever lets anyone else talk..he’s always cutting someone off mid-sentence. It won’t be long before guests quit calling in all together…why bother when you’re not gonna get a chance to be heard. Joe Scumborough is among the worstMSNBC has to offer…and that is saying a lot, because the whole lot of them are pretty much no talents.

    Comment by carrie elkin — July 5, 2007 @ 2:37 pm

  21. I agree about Morning Joe. I gave it a fair shot but he just isn’t Imus and I find that I don’t stick with it. It’s been months and I hope the rumors of an Imus comeback prove true by September.

Lou Dobbs is coming on strong. He’s got a great show.
