tick, tick, tick?

Radar Online’s Adam K. Raymond writes about Joe Scarborough replacing Don Imus from a “six of one, half a dozen of the other” perspective…

As Scarborough’s filled in for Imus (who may or may not be returning to his radio show) in the months since the grizzled shock-jock’s deplorable comments about the Rutgers women’s basketball team, he’s been the presumed heir since the get-go. But in officially handing him the slot, has MSNBC found a replacement that’s any less a potential liability than Imus was?

Raymond goes on to throw everything but the kitchen sink at Scarborough…

  1. I’ve said it before - Morning Joe stinks. I gave it a fair shot but it lost me a few weeks ago with its endless chatter and awful interviews.

  2. MS-nbc has lost all credibility, they caved to a race baiter
    and

why does every artical have to mention the Rutgers women’s basketball team, its like no one will let those girls forget they were called such shamful comments.

  3. You guys who have watched it are very brave. I tried; I could honestly not watch for more than a minute! I loved Scarborough Country when it first started, but gradually stopped watching. And now this morning crew is just the worst, with the exception of Willie Geist, who is in fact funny.

I can’t believe MSNBC cannot do better. Tucker Carlson was much better in that morning slot, but I guess I’m alone with that opinion.

  4. MSNBC has limited options in filling the time slot. Live news just doesn’t work against Fox and Friends. the other options failed miserably. Remember David Gregory imitating Imus? Mourning Joe is the queen of the pigs.

Of course they could always mimic that successful weekend strategy and end live broadcasts from 6 to 9. DocBlocks anyone?

  5. Did they finally drop the bogus so have we heard if we are going to be back routine? It seem after every show I caught they did that same routine.

  6. You’re not alone in your opinion Missy.

Two truths come out of all of this: (1)the ratings stink, and (2)Morning Joe is here to stay.

No matter how bad the ratings get, NBC (Nope. Not MSNBC. MSNBC isn’t in charge anymore) has determined MSNBC is a loss leader, and they won’t create any competition for The Today Show. Today is close to faltering on their run of being #1, and nothing can threaten that, no matter what the cost. They’ve even pulled national advertising (for Today) on several occasions to avoid Neilsen; that costs very big bucks!

They know live news, docs, and reruns would do better; but they all would cut into the Today audience as well. MJ won’t.

  7. The Radar piece linking to Joe’s ugly past is very disturbing. Infidelity, divorce, resignations and a dead woman staffer. Very disturbing stuff.

  8. Missy,
I agree. I have always wanted Tucker in that slot.
Morning Joe and Mika are pathetic.
Willie is the only bright spot, but I can’t hang on and wait for his few camera shots. A few minutes of this dribble and I am gone. (Usually fuming at Mika)
Many of us have known about the female staffer for several years, but the powers that be at MSNBC appear to have blinders on regarding this scandal.
