Fox Online with Jamie Colby…

Back in February a Bill Shine memo leaked out when America’s Newsroom launched that stated that FNC was moving away from the wheel format and towards more branded hour programming. Beginning July 14th, the 2pm hour on Saturday and Sunday will now be called “Fox Online” with Jamie Colby continuing to anchor that hour. I’ve heard there won’t be major style or format changes to that hour but you will notice some changes.

  1. I thought “FOX Online” was the last name used for the 12pm hour when Bill Hammer was anchoring it? Or was it something similar?

  2. No, that was the name exactly Richard. If anything, if they used styling similar to the old Fox Online, they’ll need to resurrect the original America’s Newsroom music since it’s now essentially using the same music with slight modifications. Still, I’m not a fan of this whole wheel format ending, I kinda miss the rolling hours of FNL on the weekends.

  3. I agree Chris. I liked the blocks of FNL on the weekend. I don’t like all this new structure. I do wish though FNC would get their weekend lineup settled and be done with it already.

  4. I used to like watching Jamie Colby prior to her getting a regular slot. The crazy thing is I wanted her to get a regular gig.. But now I avoid her due to a conflict between her voice and my ears.

  5. I have to agree with you Terrance. There is something about her voice that drives me crazy! LOL!

  6. They need to sort out branding of the 11, 12 & 2pm hours of FNL in the week! I thought they wold have done that before moving onto the weekend FNL. But seen as the weekend lineup is all over the place right now i guess thats why this is happening.

  7. Sadly I can’t stand the sound of her voice so when she comes
    on I change the channel..quickly.

  8. Jamie’s voice - I thought it was just me!

    Comment by Cella — July 5, 2007 @ 9:31 am

  9. Guys, Jamie was born with that voice, which should hardly matter. She is one of the brightest and articulate stars in that star-loaded FNC firmament, and to complain about that voice is so pusillanimous. Brains, not the voice, should matter more than anything else. I hope those complaining are the bozos, not those who take their news seriously.

  10. Some people’s voices are just annoying, irritating and that’s a fact. She has one of those voices - kinda like Rita Cosby.

  11. Christie Paul’s voice grates on my nerves. Yikes.

    Comment by spiffo — July 5, 2007 @ 9:46 am

  12. RGL, the voice may be something we should not just base our opinions on but it matters largely in a medium where we listen and we look. Honestly, some anchors just have annoying voices, look at Rita Cosby for example, and some people get turned off on that.

    Comment by Chris — July 5, 2007 @ 10:30 am

  13. RGL’s preachy voice also gets on my nerves.
Is he living under a rock by assuming that a reporter’s voice does not matter? Of course it matters.
It is baffling that RGL is pushihg this point.

  14. Too many changes at FNC. Even the prez said to..”Dance with the guy that brung ya”. Well, what brung FNC to the top was an entirely different setup with better anchors and, most importantly, stability in programming. The suits need to realize that every anchor is NOT a star, nor should they be, as the average viewer of FNC likes it when they see unassuming yet beautiful/handsome people providing both sides of the news as well as many human interest items. It’s also a plus when FNC uses the most glamorous contributors and experts. Save the nerd & bookworm types for CNN’s Anderson Cooper because he’s beautiful enough…just ask him!

  15. Meghan Kelly’s voice is annoying also!

    Comment by alice cervantes — July 5, 2007 @ 10:52 am

  16. It’s not the voice. It’s the way she sounds like she’s reading. She is obviously, like everyone else; but mpost anchors can make it flow naturally; she can’t.
Then there’s her look with the caked-on makeup and forced smile.
If you’re not yet convinced, watch her field reporting; it’s top-notch, no forced smile, no voice issues.

    Comment by erljr — July 5, 2007 @ 11:23 am

  17. Erljr, you might be right about that… For instance, Megyn Kelly is one of my favorites on FNC. She was great reporting from the field, “holding” Kendall’s Court on Weekend Live and, ad libbing on F&F. But, her delivery on Americas Newsroom is a bit painful. Now, Catherine Herridge suffers from this “lack of delivery” more than Jamie & Megyn combined. Yet somehow she keeps showing up anchoring and I’ll continue to run for the hills.

    Comment by Terance — July 5, 2007 @ 11:48 am

  18. Meghan Kelly’s to me has the most annoying delivery and voice. She yells at the camera rather than delivering the news. She talks way too fast and way too loud in such a staccato fashion that I just cannot watch her. She seems phony and puleeeeeze, don’t tell me one more time that she is a lawyer. We get it!! Sorry - just can’t watch this woman.

    Comment by sophia — July 5, 2007 @ 12:29 pm

  19. I can’t believe they took Trace Gallagher off BOTH Studio B and Fox Report Weekend and say it’s a promotion to “chief correspondent”. And what do we get, another blonde with a pound of makeup, short skirt and spike heels. It’s like watching the Stepford Wives.

  20. Please, RJL, she is on TV–the voice DOES matter!! And I agree with others about Meghan Kelly’s delivery. Both she & Jamie were good reporters–they are NOT good anchors!

    Comment by Caty — July 5, 2007 @ 3:13 pm

  21. I get sick everytime I hear these crybabies complaining about Jamie and Megan. They are excellent anchors, no matter what pea-brained critics prattle about with their infantile moans and groans. Just some type of regressive behavior, I suppose. Too bad Ritalin would not change that.

    Comment by RGL — July 5, 2007 @ 3:41 pm

  22. Crybabies, pea-brained critics, infantile moans and groans and regressive behavior; geesh all I said was that Meghan had an annoying voice.

    Comment by alice cervantes — July 5, 2007 @ 5:12 pm

  23. Alice, if the shoe fits, wear it. You are more than an annoyance with your uppity-up airs. Why not stop indulging in that foolish and juvenile harangue?

    Comment by RGL — July 5, 2007 @ 5:21 pm

  24. RGL let the lady have an opinion. After all, we put up with your arrogance and condisention.

    Comment by Dee — July 5, 2007 @ 6:55 pm

  25. Dee, you need to go back to school. You don’t know how to spell. You fool!

    Comment by RGL — July 5, 2007 @ 11:44 pm

  26. RGL, you are absolutely right! I did misspell - and you just proved my point about arrogance. Perhaps you should take Manners 101. You sure haven’t learned any yet.

    Comment by Dee — July 6, 2007 @ 7:18 am

  27. Glad you went to the dictionary. That’s not arrogance; that’s enlightening those who are in the dark. Is it not good manners to lead you to the right way?

    Comment by RGL — July 6, 2007 @ 9:21 am

  28. RGL - Not if you are the leader. I would be blinded by your dazzling perfection.

    Dee

    Comment by Dee — July 6, 2007 @ 10:50 am

  29. Somebody as myopic as you are could not be blinded any further. Not even if you wear eyeglasses.

    Comment by RGL — July 6, 2007 @ 3:20 pm

  30. RGL are you always this obnoxious? Do you come by it naturally or do you really work at it? The rest of us are giving informed opinions while you are doing the whining and name calling. I thought you gave that up in the third grade. (You did make the third grade didn’t you?) Just put your thumb back in your mouth and let the rest of us continue with informed opinions. Enough of the name calling. Say something reasonably intelligent just once.
