  1. BOR’s 11pm repeat continues to bring in great numbers. His demo rating at 11pm beat his demo at 8pm. When you combine both airings he’s bringing in 3,372,000 (812,000). That’s pretty impressive for a cable news show.

  2. Wow…Morning Shmoe’s demo figure keeps slipping. I gotta say, Mika is such a turn-off in the mornings. What a drag. Oh, and congrats to LKL on his (rare) win last night. BTW, does anyone know why Anderson was in LA last night?

  3. Keep Dreamin TB,

That would be impressive if it were true. Drones will watch the same program over and over.

  4. Who did Larry King have on?

    Comment by Noelle — July 13, 2007 @ 6:19 pm

  5. *Drones*….El, you sound like a drone for the left.

F&F still had fairly high numbers…..American Morning was up about 50K as well. Wonder why…..

  6. Larry King was supposed to have Amy Jacobson on (ousted reporter from Chicago who found herself in a bikini, swimming at the home of missing mom Lisa Stebic while Lisa’s hubby was there as well). She ended up being a no show. I don’t know who LK had on instead, I turned it off. Maybe they were all waiting to see if she showed.

  7. Olbermann tops 800,000 again. Not too long ago, that was almost unheard-of for him. Lately, it’s been getting old hat.

    Comment by Gramps — July 13, 2007 @ 6:54 pm

  8. Cris Angel was Larry King’s guest. The first 20 minutes of the show involved the Lisa Stebic case. After that, it was all Cris Angel.

  9. It’s called Morning Joe but nobody will say it because they know it’s not going to last. What a bunch of idiots for firing Imus - getting what they deserve.

    Comment by mel — July 13, 2007 @ 6:55 pm

  10. Uh–lately Olbermann has been third in the demo and third overall almost every single night. Last night was a rare night that he managed to make it to number 2 overall. He’s never beaten O’Reilly in either the overall or demo ratings. His ratings have been shrinking lately as well, perhaps that why he’s doing more of his “Special” comments lately.

    Comment by Alison — July 13, 2007 @ 7:00 pm

  11. I actually feel bad for Morning Joe but not enough to suffer through Mika and John for 3 hours. Ugh. They really did make a huge mistake firing Don Imus - show was so great.

I’m so tired of the wrestler story - enough!

    Comment by jules — July 13, 2007 @ 7:25 pm

  12. Wnat is it that MSNBC doesn’t understand?
Tucker and Willie would be perfect in the morning slot.
Why isn’t Willie on Morning Joe any longer?
Who is that chubby guy in the dress shirt with no tie?
I don’t stay around long enough to hear any comments he might add.
And what else can I say about the self aggrandizing Mika?

    Comment by Cella — July 13, 2007 @ 7:29 pm

  13. I’ve noticed that the numbers for the morning shows really fluctuate a lot. One day FOX is up near 1 million and the next they are down around 750,000. Alisyn Camerota is bringing up the ratings for Fox & Friends 1st, and as much as I hate to say it, Roberts and Chetry are coming together nicely over at Cnn. Chetry played a backstabbing game over at FOX, and I think it’s now starting to bear fruit for her. I wonder how her reputation is playing with the ladies over at Cnn? I read somewhere today that Rudi Bakhtiar’s contract wasn’t renewed at FOX, and that her agent was John Ferriter of William Morris! Anyone know if this is true? Somehow, I don’t think Cnn will be taking Rudi like they did Kiran. They already gave her away once!

    Comment by california dreamin — July 13, 2007 @ 7:43 pm

  14. Hey California Dreamin, wow…is that really you? I can’t believe my eyes: “Roberts and Chetry are coming together nicely at CNN.” I have to agree with you…I just didn’t expect to hear you say that. :) I know Chetry’s not very popular around here, but for some reason, I enjoy watching her. John Roberts is starting to grow on me too. When you look at the raw numbers, compared to the last couple of months with the O’Briens, Roberts and Chetry have very well in a short period of time.

    Comment by Objective Analyst — July 13, 2007 @ 8:03 pm

  15. CNN REALLY doesn’t like Paula much, do they? First they announce the “CNN/Youtube Countdown” specials for next week, and tonight they have a special (live) 2 hour LKL on. She must feel a little worthless…

    Comment by Anonymous — July 13, 2007 @ 8:03 pm

  16. “CNN REALLY doesn’t like Paula much, do they?”

I think if you substituted “The viewers” for “CNN”, you’d be right on target. CNN’s given PZ prime real estate and all she’s done is lower the market value of everyone in the area.

    Comment by Terance — July 13, 2007 @ 8:13 pm

  17. Objective Analyst, Yes, you read it correctly! They are doing a nice job, especially for those viewers that might be worried that the liberal slant would disappear. Not to worry, it’s still there. Chet and Roberts, both Democrats, spend the majority of their 3 hour program’s political coverage on the failure of the Iraq War, Republicans and their scandals, and the gloomy economic picture. And then there’s Hillary’s healthcare pitchman, Sanjay Gupta, appearing every 30 minutes or so. Chet is a younger and fresher face that will be very successful in pushing the liberal message. She has a fun personality, and that can make the liberal agenda easier to swallow. In 5 years, look for Chet to be at ABC or NBC anchoring their morning show. She is catching on.

  18. “Uh–lately Olbermann has been third in the demo and third overall almost every single night. Last night was a rare night that he managed to make it to number 2 overall.”
what are you talking about Alison he has been no.2 in overall numbers everyday day this week if i’m not mistaken- yesterday night certainly isn’t the first night he came second in total viewership.

    Comment by Sam — July 13, 2007 @ 8:38 pm

  19. California Dreamin, I don’t see the bias as you do. I watch more FNC than anything. Though I like all of the individual personalities on F&F, it’s just not my favorite show. I used to enjoy having Imus as an alternative. You’re probably right about Roberts and Chetry being liberal democrats, but I don’t see any sort slant that effects the news that I get from American Morning.

    Comment by Objective Analyst — July 13, 2007 @ 8:46 pm

  20. Objective Analyst, FOX & Friends picks on Democrats a lot, and yes, they get blasted for it and are labeled biased. I’ll accept that. Over at Cnn, American Morning has countless headlines and stories on the same old doom, gloom, scandal and calamity, and guess what? Fingers are hardly ever pointed at anything that a Democrat may do wrong. All I want to know is why FOX is hammered for picking on Dems but Cnn and the other channels aren’t singled out for their little political games? Do they have halos around their heads or something? Ever watch Chet doing her little kiss up act to the Dems? She’s pretty good.

    Comment by california dreamin — July 13, 2007 @ 9:03 pm

  21. I switch back and forth from F&F and American Morning..They both report the same news,,”The Most News in the Morning” is a myth..It just seems like your getting more of it because they deliver it in such a mundane way…imo

  22. Did anyone see BOR talking about how Brian Williams has lots millions of viewers…well, all of Imus’s fans quit watching that phony too. We stopped watching Meet the Press - hope Russert’s ratings are down too.

Why does MSNBC not have live programming on right now? I tuned in just to see how awful Dan is and they have on taped programming at 9pm.

    Comment by jules — July 13, 2007 @ 9:24 pm

  23. Hi jules…I’ve been wondering why NBC Nightly News’ ratings have dropped so much. I wondered if BOR’s recent commentaries had an effect? I’ve never considered Imus fans?

    Comment by Objective Analyst — July 13, 2007 @ 10:07 pm

  24. Oh yes, Imus fans do not watch NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams or Meet the Press anymore. Imus used to have both Brian and Tim Russert on all the time and Brian was one of the first to play up the Imus racist nonsense - Imus said on his last TV show how disappointed he was with Brian. Imus fans know he isn’t a racist and to have the people who were supposed to be friends turn on him was an offense to us. Russert’s silence was just as bad. There are many, many Imus fans who are silent and not on sites but who are really, really pissed off.

    Comment by jules — July 13, 2007 @ 10:26 pm

  25. Using whose ratings? TVNewsers? that’s Live plus Data dear, not the ratings that ICN has posted. Olbermann has been making it a habit to come in third lately in that crucial “key demo”. Even his “special comments” don’t help boost those ratings anymore for him. And let’s not forget that he has never, not once, ever managed to beat Fox News in the ratings, either the overall or the demo. That’s NOT a ratings success.

    Comment by Alison — July 13, 2007 @ 10:41 pm

  26. Add me to the list of viewers who no longer watch any MSNBC, NBC or CBS programming. And it’s all because of the MIS-firing of Don Imus. Believe me, I am not missing anything except Imus, Charles, Bernie, Lou and Rob.

    Comment by cr — July 13, 2007 @ 10:57 pm

  27. Cella, I, too, think that Tucker and Willie would be better in the morning. They seemed perfect for that spot, unlike Scarborough, who seemed better suited for evenings, (if anywhere at all). And I can’t believe they’re still going with Joe with the horrible ratings he’s garnered.

    Comment by Missy — July 13, 2007 @ 11:50 pm

  28. nice dodge- but you said that KO hasn’t come second in overall in the longest while-and that tonight was his first night coming second in overall numbers- but that’s not true because he he came second in total/overall viewership all this week.

    Comment by Sam — July 14, 2007 @ 1:18 am

  29. BTW Olbermann came second in both total and demo viewers last week friday and tuesday so i dont know what you’re talking about- and that’s using ICN numbers.

  30. I am an Imus fan who has been posting and emailing since April. Imus has a very loyal fan base and they are not going away until he returns. Nobody can even BEGIN to compare to the I-Man!

    Comment by Kathy — July 14, 2007 @ 8:25 am

  31. Tucker in the morning? HA!! MessNBC might as well put on cartoons for the kiddies. As a Don Imus supporter, I am not surprised at Joe’s poor ratings. No one will succeed in that time slot. We are all too angry to watch MessNBC at all, and as previously stated, Brian, Tim, and the other “backstabbers” are also on the no-watch list. See www.imustruth.org and www.supportimus.org for more insight on how angry we are.

  32. Those pesky “mosquitos” seem to be buZZZZing around MoUrning Joe a lot lately.

Hope he got his West Nile vaccination, cause were heading into the dog days of ratings and would hate to see him SCRATCHING in the TEENS.

Stand by people. This thing is on life support - already !

  33. I used to watch MSNBC, and NBC. Since Imus in the Morning has been off the air, I no longer watch Brian Williams or Tim Russert. And MSNBC has NOTHING to offer. If I want news I watch ABC. I’m actually enjoying having the TV off. But, I am not enjoying almost 100 days without IMUS.

    Comment by Jeannette — July 14, 2007 @ 10:00 am

  34. I have always liked Tucker and Willie, I would like to see them on another network, one that gets watched. I would really like to see a Tucker and Jon Stewart rematch. Willie is probably being under utilized but what would you expect from MSNBC? Tucker could have Stephen Colbert backing him up and Jon Stewart could have that English guy on his show.

Still if you are having Imus withdrawls, check out this link and have a look at the one Titled “I’ve become a Verb” don’t forget to read the comments. This Guy is clever.

  35. The only way Imus is returning to msnbc is if The Rev. Al says he can…and Al Roker agrees with him..Until that scenario plays out, you all can forget about the I-man ever coming back…

Didn’t the girls accept his apology?.. Oh yeah,,,who cared
about them?///In the end, only Imus!

    Comment by A.M. — July 14, 2007 @ 2:12 pm

  36. Imus wouldn’t go back to MSNBC for all the money in the world…he’ll be back somewhere bigger and better.

I like Tucker and Willie too - it’s too bad they’re on MSNBC. I like Joe Scarborough too but MJ is awful with Mike and John always chirping in - ugh

  39. I’m going to add my two cents about Olbermann. He did come in third and sometimes fourth for much of June. That being said, there are a lot of ways to lie with statistics.

In May Olbermann’s total and demo averages were about 604 and 164 respectively. Nancy’s were about 458 and 146. In June, Olbermann’s were around 592 and 188 and Nancy’s where around 741 and 241. Now if you were to look solely at what rank everyone was at on a nightly basis you would see that Nancy was very much beating Olbermann and beating him soundly. However, knowing the averages for the month were you can see that Olbermann’s numbers didn’t change much and his demo numbers went up quite a bit. Not a bad month on the whole.

Now for July, Olbermann’s numbers are about 763 and 203 and Nancy’s are about 582 and 211. Now granted it’s only the first couple of weeks of the month, but I have to say that Olbermann is having a great month. Also, his numbers are very steady from month to month. What should make people wonder is how much Nancy’s number jump up and down from month to month.
