Spud, maybe it’s because all the programs you mentioned are basically lousy (except for CNBC’s two trader programs, which always have small audiences)? It’s probably not summer fatigue after all.

Another FOURTH place out of FIVE in the critical, all important, much loved, key demo for Keith “Second Place” Olbermann?

Then explain On the Record’s or The Big Story’s success. Both those shows suck yet they get good ratings.

Keith “Solid Second” Olbermann strikes again
Comment by Edward Schatz — July 16, 2007 @ 5:34 pm
You guys are ridiculous with ‘Keith second place…’ whatever the hell you say crap. Sound like a bunch of old men sitting at the park on a blazing, hot sunny day with nothing better to do than talk about how hot it is. Ramble on oldies. Olbermann will be over a million plus viewers on a constant basis come fall.
Missy do you need Spud’s approval or am I missing something?

I have a grand plan to resuscitate H&C’s flat ratings. Now, I realize this will most likely never happen. However, I think it would be fascinating. I propose Hannity&Colmes temporarily switch parties for *one night* only. And would be interested in seeing each one of them defend the other side for a change… just think of the possible “buildup” and ensuing “buzz” created by such a scheme! Finally, I do realize this might in fact “turn off” die hard right or left wingers who watch. So, a short term ratings gain might not be worth making regular viewers mad. (if in fact that was the outcome which is speculation in its own right)

“Olbermann will be over a million plus viewers on a constant basis come fall.”
Dream on. I doubt that there are not that many raving moonbats watching TV at 8pm.
Comment by PF — July 16, 2007 @ 5:58 pm
I’m going to give everyone a break since it was a Friday.
However, Joe better not give up his 9PM show just yet. He lives in Florida and unless he is going to move up north, he can’t keep this schedule too long and neither can John Ridley who lives in CA.

How come keith’s number are usually higher on http://mediabistro.com/tvnewser/?page=1 than on IC on a regular basis. Which one is more reliable.

“Olbermann will be over a million plus viewers on a constant basis come fall.”
Yes we know we been hearing that for three f*cking years now.

Larry King was actually LIVE on Friday at both 8pm and 9pm…

What does “scratch in the demo” mean?
Comment by Peter Bond — July 16, 2007 @ 7:02 pm
BLOCKED BLOCKED BLOCKED
Hmmm
Comment by Hmmm — July 16, 2007 @ 7:16 pm
Hey Punky this is not why i was blocked, but - see you got the Dog Days of summer reply. Perhaps you need some Kool Aid to go with that lobster roll.
Comment by Hmmm — July 16, 2007 @ 7:18 pm
well i wonder why the ratings are so low, how many of you or anyone else are watching news stastions during the summer
people are outside doing other things
Comment by Zak — July 16, 2007 @ 7:30 pm
ROTFL #10 mlong!!!
Comment by Noelle — July 16, 2007 @ 7:39 pm
Because the guy who runs TVN uses the “live plus data”, which is the live ratings PLUS the data from DVR’s and TIVO’s. Although there is absolutely zero proof than anyone actually watches those recordings back. Spud uses Live data only.
Olbermann will get a million on a regular basis when he really goes full monty with the Howard Beale imitation and threatens to kill himself on the air.
Comment by Alison — July 16, 2007 @ 7:44 pm
When you scratch from skeeters. You should occupy the last line in the time slot.
Because the show sucks, the show should occupy the bottom line, not get sandwiched in between others with higher numbers.
Even though MS and CN are NBC properties and should carry more weight, they continually take up the rear and as such, should be on the bottom were the numbers indicate they belong….

So what do you think will happen first?
Olby gets a million viewers? Or,
The Karl Rove indictments finally show up? Or,
We finally find out who in the Clinton Whitehouse hired Craig Livingstone.
Comment by puck — July 16, 2007 @ 10:37 pm
Terance, that’s a great suggestion. One segment Hannity could scream at Newt Gingrich for being a moralist, then Alan can bring on Anne Coulter to talk about how misunderstood she is. They’ll never do it, though.

Promises, promises. Now that my hopes are up, he better follow thru.

Another scratch for Morning Joe - it’s a trainwreck. Exactly who likes Mika? I wish they’d bring back Tucker and Willie in the mornings and I’d actually watch again….unit Imus resurfaces of course.

PP, once again your warmth & compassion comes shining through! Us, old men, have earned the right to discuss the weather, you need to respect your elders. Your attitude, and others like you, is one of the reasons, this world is going to hell in a hand basket. In my opinion, talking heads today give an opinion & not the facts, & your boy Obermutt, is a good example; but, with your attitude, I can see why you so admire him.
Comment by ditmar — July 17, 2007 @ 9:30 am
let me see if I understand this correctly. Again, O’Reilly dominates. Again, the only one anyone is talking about is Olberman. Who cares? If he breaks through one million viewers he will then be at exactly half the viewers of O’Reilly, and then maybe his prime time slot will actually beat O’Reilly’s re runs. Why are you all hyperanalyzing this third rate journalist. O’Reilly is the one dominating and he is the one deserving of analysis.
