Gibson on Olbermann/AFL-CIO forum…

John Gibson did what I expected and had a field day with the news that Keith Olbermann would moderate the AFL-CIO Presidential forum. Olbermann Watch has the audio from Gibson’s Radio Show…

  1. Does this warrant a blog post? I mean its obvious the far right would hate this move. What a surprise! It’s not news. Let’s see what happens, Maybe Olbermann can pull a Hume and supposedly be balanced during the debate I see no problem.

  2. And if FOX allowed O’Reilly to moderate a debate, Olbermann would be all over FOX for doing it. I hope FOX does do it so MSNBC can attack FOX for doing the same thing MSNBC did… now that would be great TV!

  3. “John Gibson did what I expected and had a field day with the news that Keith Olbermann would………… ”

But what about, Obiewon Having a guest HOST ON, that would call the wife of a US Senator (Vitter) “A, ho and a prostitute?”

Do you find “Ho” in this context offensive spud ?????

Or is it just when I use the word in terms of the media that gets your dander up————-” ?

  4. I saw that crap with the “ho”graphic at the bottom of the screen on Countdown.
I always knew msnbc was pathetic but I truly wonder if their is a mental problem with the employees and news directors at that network.

  5. scrub scrub scrub

You never know; it could end up being bath day… They still happen quite often…

  6. Mrs. Vitter has been through enought without being called a “ho”, or anything else of a demeaning nature. And unlike the basketball team, this slur WAS personal, directed at her and her alone!

So isn’t the next logical step removal of Keith, for putting up such a vulgar graphic? When we he be “imussed” into oblivion?

MSNBC loses all credibility and integrity for sure if they let this stand. They owe Mrs. Vitter a sincere apology, and should remove Countdown from their programming, exactly as they did with Imus and his program. And if they don’t do so, they need to tell us why.

  7. “enough”, not “enought”

And I just see that someone wrote that there was a guest host tonight. So maybe KO is not at fault in this case. But all who were involved in this horrific characterization of Mrs. Vitter should be reprimanded, and a public apology to Mrs. V. should be made.

  8. You would not be jumping down Fox’s throat if they did something like that would you?

    Comment by Mike Beckham — July 18, 2007 @ 1:15 am

  9. Yeah, great defense Mike. You remind me a lot of that old Abbot and Costello bit… except with you, “third base” is always “FOX”

  10. “ho”graphic at the bottom of the screen on Countdown.”
I’m sure Al Sharpton will get right on it since he’s appointed himself head of policing anyone who uses the H word in the media….and also I’m sure KO will give his show WPITW honors for doing it too. :)

  11. Sock it to the bat-a-boy, John! The nincompoop deserves one.

  12. As pointed out in Comment #2 pointed out, if the shoe were on the other foot Olbermann and Abramswould be making a lot of hay out of O’Reilly or Gibson moderating such an event. There’s plenty of hypocrisy on both sides to go around.

Gibson’s comments aside, what concerns me about putting Olbermann in that position (as O’Reilly or Gibson if the situation were reversed) is this - is he going to put his fervent political beliefs aside and ask the Democratic candidates tough questions? This is what the electorate needs, not a bunch of softballs that the candidates will be able to knock out of the park. Then again who knows….mabye Olbermann will do an honest job, but my money would be on something that won’t be worth watching.

  13. Hmmm and Missy, what a chorus line the two of you make. Keep singing. No one is listening. Dumb…dumb…dumb–dumb–dumb, sounds good. Keep going.

  14. Oh and BTW, (I was getting caught up in that horrible singing in the bg) John Gibson? Credibility, don’t think so. He’s like another Rivera, just about the ratings, talk about garbage if need be…problem is, ratings aren’t so good now are they?

    Comment by Peoplepeople — July 18, 2007 @ 8:51 am

  15. PP, you really are a bit of an arrogant AHO, Missy’s pt. is in regards to her personal beliefs & support of Don Imus & you know it. I think she & hmmm are spot on though regarding their observations and are more likely to be “fair & balanced” than you with your never ending rahrah song for MSDNC.

    Comment by ditmar — July 18, 2007 @ 9:32 am

  16. Pp, maybe I wouldn’t go after Fox if they did such a thing, although I doubt whether anyone except Greg Gutfeld (shown at 2 a.m.!!!) would do such a thing. But I did with MSNBC, because it was THEY who dumped Imus for the exact same words. Does the “victim” have to be black for the slur to be in effect?

As I’ve mentioned before, I was no longer a fan of Imus, but believe he was treated poorly in his dismissal, and was not allowed to exhibit his obvious contrition. But he made that remark at the spur of the moment. Contrast this to what happened with MSNBC and Mrs. Vitter - it sounds premeditated in nature, since they even had a guest on to discuss same and had prepared graphics to show along with the story!!!

Again, the idiot(s) who came up with this idea should be removed from the broadcast, exactly as was done with Imus and his people.

  17. Number 1,
Olbermann can “pull a Hume and…. be balanced”.
    Yeah, and pigs can fly.

  18. ditmar, ‘arrogant’ definately, ‘aho’ right-on, ‘MSDNC’ you bet. Thanks for the refresher.

  19. You’ll have to excuse “People” He/She gets that way when he/she drinks. If you’ll notice, PP’s responses are sometimes well thought out and reasonable. But as the conversation moves on, they get more and more irrational and drunken-bar-shouty.

PP… We here at ICN just care about your well being. Oh, and your liver.

But I guess maybe I care too much. It’s okay, you can now tell me that my head’s in the sand.

  20. How in the world does John Gibson keep his job? At least Rivera has passion and personality. He is fun to watch no matter what the news.

    Comment by Ladyone — July 18, 2007 @ 2:08 pm

  21. ImNotBlue, why would I tell you to put your head in the sand, or say it’s stuck in the sand? Perhaps for another time! I love your humor! Keep it up, makes things fun…BTW, I’m not a drunk, at least I don’t think so. And I’m a ‘he’. Ohhh, that explains it. Thanks for the compliment somewhere in there.

    Comment by Peoplepeople — July 18, 2007 @ 5:33 pm

  22. Hey, I don’t make assumptions about your he/she status. I’ll keep the “he” in mind though.

But don’t forget… the first step in getting help, is admitting there is a problem. Keeping my fingers crossed for you buddy.
