  1. A little late, but not too late. Olbermann wasn’t forced into this apology, and the issue was dying, so I give him points for doing the right thing.

    Comment by erljr — July 24, 2007 @ 1:45 am

  2. So Keith is saying if he was not off that day the story would not have been done because he would have refused to do it? So it’s Alison Stewart’s faut?

  3. hmm i wonder how this will affect Alison Stewart filling in for keith when he is off?

  4. I give him props for apologizing, but why did it take this long? And erljr, we don’t know if he was forced into the apology or not.

I don’t think Alison Stewart is to blame for the segment. I believe that would be the producer.

  5. This doesn’t reflect on Alison Stewart in any way - I seriously doubt she has any creative control, especially as a fill-in. Surely she didn’t come up with the title of the segment (don’t recall exactly - ho-paux or something).

Props for Olbermann for apologizing, but what is a bit phony is that it came after what I’m sure was a good deal of e-mail complaints and such. In other words, they aren’t self-policing as much as responding to criticism. Nevertheless, they did the right thing. There was no need to mock the wife, who is in the middle of the whole thing.

  6. True remorse, KO apologizes for being off one day last week. Questions remain, like who was fired?

    Comment by channelXRFR — July 24, 2007 @ 7:32 am

  7. Keith should not have apologized at all.

Ms. Vitter is not an “innocent bystander” here. She thrust herself into the middle of this mess with the comments she made during the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal: that she’d go Lorena Bobbit on her hubby if he ever did to her what Bill Clinton did to Hillary.

Now her hubby HAS done the same thing to her… so she’s part of it whether she likes it or not.

Add the fact that the GOP keeps insisting that it is the pure, chaste, prim, über-moral, “family-values” party… whose members keep turning up in sex scandals. And at a press conference at which Mr. Vitter was going to address a “morals” issue, his wife turns up in a slinky, Kmart sheath. What did they THINK people were going to say??

  8. Whoaaaaa. Am I actually seeing this ? KO backs the firing of Imus and THIS is supposed to fly ? Used to be a huge KO fan, but the truth is, he’s made many, many mysogynistic remarks and, at least twice, snide remarks re AC’s sexuality. Got hypocrisy ????

    Comment by Susan — July 24, 2007 @ 8:00 am

  9. To be fair, he was NOT on the show the night this happened but this would hardly be the first episode where he’s made snarky remarks regarding women, they seem to be his favorite verbal punching bag. And yes, as Susan points out, he’s made several remarks slamming Anderson Cooper’s alleged sexuality. It’s high time he apologize to someone for something, even if he wasn’t the one who actually made the comment.

    Comment by Alison — July 24, 2007 @ 8:50 am

  10. Though Keith isn’t always right, he always displayed journalistic integrity. The first episode I ever watched had a correction segment for something that had gotten misreported - an episode that kept me watching.

    Comment by Mandy — July 24, 2007 @ 8:52 am

  11. Wow, and I thought bringing up the question of WHAT THE HECK WAS SHE DOING IN A LEOPARD PRINT? was apropos. I mean really, it was weird!

    Comment by potentkin — July 24, 2007 @ 9:04 am

  12. Olbermann is such a gutless coward that he didn’t even mention that his gameshow called David Vitter’s wife a “HO”! However, Olbermann actually called his unwatched gameshow a “newscast”!!! Not just once, but TWICE!!! ROTFLMAO!

    Comment by Tom — July 24, 2007 @ 9:12 am

  13. Small potatoes when compared to the constant, never-ending personal attacks and vitrol the reich wing media spews 24/7. And, ya Mrs. Vitters IS a hyprocrite…just like her “man”.

    Comment by allan brown — July 24, 2007 @ 9:13 am

  14. KO is a God in my book. His appology was right on. His courage is above the call of duty. He can make all the snide remarks he wants about anything as long as his courage in speaking the truth is on the level of his “Special Comments”. There is no one who can compare with Keith in the Mainstream Corporate Media. Leave him alone!

    Comment by Alice — July 24, 2007 @ 9:17 am

  15. Flipkid,
Firstly, KO himself considers Mrs. V. an innocent in this instance. Do you trust his judgement ?
Now, using your logic….when college women permit themselves to be filmed (with ultimate national exposure) while sporting tattoos and an overall “roughened” appearance, what did they THINK people would say ?
    Doesn’t work, does it ?
    Two things to consider here:
Mrs. V. most likely was sincere in her “Bobbit” statement, and am sure is just as shocked as HC was to find herself in this nightmare; and
As a woman who has just been cheated on, her dress choice was most likely an attempt to appear “un-Republican” - after all, what WOULD people say if she appeared all buttoned-up and be-pearled ? Btw, the only “problem” with the dress is its print.

No, in light of the position KO and MS/NBC took on the Imus affair, this was inexcusable.

    Comment by Susan — July 24, 2007 @ 9:18 am

  16. I smell trolls in the blog. Keith is too “right on” not to attack him for the tiniest slip. Give me a BREAK! Are these the professional trolls the GOP employs to try and obfuscate the truth?

    Comment by Alice — July 24, 2007 @ 9:23 am

  17. What Allison Stewart said about Mrs Vitter is all of a piece with her bad taste. Consider the cheap YouTube videos she chose to exhibit on Countdown, the shaking booties, the women fighting, etc. It brought down the quality of Keith’s show to the point of offensiveness. I, for one, won’t miss her.

    Comment by Harriet Cohen — July 24, 2007 @ 9:26 am

  18. Yeah, it was a bit tasteless but when you come across as a hypocrit it is time for a little humility. She should stand by her words in removing his balls. Either shut up all together or put up.

  19. The only change I would have made to Keith’s apology would have been been to drop the “I wasn’t there.” People would have figured it out, and he would seem even more to be doing the right thing. Re Mrs. Vitter, when you step into the kitchen with remarks re Bobbit aimed at Clinton or anyone else, really, and the chickens come home to roost, you should expect the kitchen to get hot and a few arrows shot. What would have been nice to hear from Mrs. Vitter (instead of challenges to the media) would have been something along the lines of… “Years ago I made some statements regarding infidelity in a then President’s marriage that I now regret. The view is different when you’re, unfortunately, on the “inside” of this circumstance. I understand now that love and family do come ahead of mistakes that your spouse can make. And I too stand by my spouse.

  22. Oh, yes, I agree, this means Keith’s career is OVER, and all he has said now means NOTHING! What a lying contemptible adulterating, hypocritical…oh wait. That’s Vitter, not a reporter.

Relax people. The man apologized. Bigger fish to fry.

  23. Just amazing. If only you people would have held the corporate media to the same scrutiny as you do Keith, maybe the lives of 3600 military heroes could have been saved. Maybe most of you should apologize to America for your double-standards for what is right vs. wrong. Weak, gutless and cowardly are those who would complain about Keith but praise the little dictator.

    Comment by midvanisle — July 24, 2007 @ 9:47 am

  26. And the fact that he blames somebody else in his “apology” is typical KO as well.

    Comment by eddiebear — July 24, 2007 @ 9:47 am

  27. I watch Keith’s show every night and I didn’t know there was any controversy about this segment. I like Alison Stewart, and I had many of the same thoughts about her odd choice of dress when I saw Mrs Vitter standing by her man. Mrs Vitter is NOT a bystander — no politician’s spouse is; she became fair game as soon as she volunteered to join the GOP propaganda during the farce that was Clinton’s impeachment.

GOP outrage is ALWAYS FAKE! Remember, these are the same pundits and critics who were outrages re Kerry’s comment about Cheney’s lesbian daughter; whoever is behind the outrage re Ms Stewart’s comments are probably laughing at how easy it is to manufacture a distraction from the real story — Sen Vitter broke the law and broke a commandment. Please, get some perspective!

  28. All of this means that Sen. Vitter’s Christian adultery is OK.

    Comment by midvanisle — July 24, 2007 @ 9:49 am

  29. This is exactly why I make it a point NOT to watch Olberman when Stewart is the fill-in host. She is a shallow and vapid “newsperson”, only capable of presenting a giggly and gossipy persona, where Kieth has the depth and knowledge to walk the fine line between humor and gravitas.

    Comment by Lou Marin — July 24, 2007 @ 9:56 am

  30. Much ado about nothing. When Imus used the offensive term, it was totally unrelated to the ladies’ basketball team, they had done nothing to get that sort of attention. When used in this context, well, that’s what the whole story is about, the “ho”lier than thou Senator who in reality . . . !!! And his wife who had a lot to say about other people’s lives.

    Comment by cib — July 24, 2007 @ 10:00 am

  31. Kieth Olbermann is not “gutless” nor is he heartless.
He has the most credible political commentary on television. He stood up to hypocracy when everyone else was poking their head in the network sand. This apology is considerate and thoughtful, albeit unnecessary.

    Comment by Democrab — July 24, 2007 @ 10:03 am

  32. I thought the reference was to KO questioning Anne Coulter’s sexuality, not Anderson Cooper’s. His sexuality was never in doubt. Hers?

    Comment by RAMJET — July 24, 2007 @ 10:08 am

    Comment by alablaze — July 24, 2007 @ 10:08 am

  34. Seems to me to be another case of selective outrage. All during the IMUS controversy, MSNBC held Allison Stewart up as being their contribution to African-American newscasters. Where is Al Sarpton now - Now that MSNBCs posterchild has dissed a white woman. Same old spin….same old BS.

    Comment by Daniel — July 24, 2007 @ 10:09 am

  35. When Mrs. V. made her very public remarks about the Climton matter, she became a more than just a private citizen . She and her husband, and their ” family values” make them suspect with his actions and her trashy dress . The remarks made about the dress were valid.

    Comment by roxiee pruitt — July 24, 2007 @ 10:14 am

  36. I am highly critical of many of Keith’s actions and statements, but in this case, his apology (which he said was made “fully and undeservedly”) was direct (to Mrs. Vitter and the audience), and seemed sincere. And he did not use the insulting “if I offended anyone” line that we often hear.

So for once, I appreciate Keith’s comments, and am glad, especially for Mrs. Vitter, that he made the apology.

    Comment by Missy — July 24, 2007 @ 10:18 am

  37. Keith was off the day this happened and it is unfortuante others want to associate any words by KO as connected to this incident. That is unfair.
If anyone is to blame it would be the producer who is supposed to be responsible for content, if the host is gone.
It was big of him to apologize.
Too bad Bill O does not have an ouce of remorse over anything said on his show-if any had any decency he’d call it “the I’m Sorry Show”.

    Comment by bethincary — July 24, 2007 @ 10:21 am

  38. Should it matter that Imus was nailed for something HE said and Keith apologized for something said on his show? And who cares what Mrs. Vitter wore? The lesson Mrs. Vitter teaches us all is: beware. Beware telling the world what you’d do if. Beware false bravado. Beware judgment of others. Mind you her husband didn’t turn to hooker(s) — you believe it only happened once? — BECAUSE she mocked Hillary for standing by her man. The upside for Mrs. Vitter of course is that the nation is not likely to begin an undending cacophany of frigid jokes or lesbian jokes or otherwise implying that she is somehow responsible for her husband’s deeds. I mean, who would do something like that?

    Comment by Not Keith — July 24, 2007 @ 10:21 am

  39. I like KO. He is above the rest of the crowd. I don’t think Mrs. V. stand for her husband does anything for me. When she cast so much on Hillary when she stood by her man. Makes you think that old saying “when you walk a mile in my shoes” has a lot to do with your judgement. I of course believe anyone who has been outspoken about things they know little about should be put out there when it’s their turn. The Republicans super stand on all their moral convictions when it comes to sexual stances is not in the public interest and should be left to some other watch dog and not our Federal Government. Equality is what our constitution says not who or what we want to pick for that equality.

  41. To be brutally honest about all this…I am fed up with disingenous apologies for politically-correct slip-ups. Either we are going to have some chiseled in stone parameters of censureship applied to all, or we have freedom of speech!

Yes, it’s trite, but better trite than this absurd sniveling by one side (former psycho-babblist guru followers)demanding apologies for the slight or slur of the day from mainstream types, while ignoring completely, for decades now, the likes of Limbaugh et nauseum.

Limbaugh-Sharpton, OReilly-Jackson Imus-Hannity. Doesn’t matter. Do you snivelers roll down your windows downtown so you can hear the foul ragings and rantings of the mentally ill who populate your cities dumpsters? No? Well then shut up about the milque-toasts like Olbermann, who occasionally get it right. How about you try and pressure a Limbaugh! Fear, fear of those ‘meanies’, that’s why you let the far right blabbers off, and instead go after the middle of the roaders.

    Comment by Didereaux — July 24, 2007 @ 10:23 am

  42. Like a politician who was caught cheating or doing drugs in college — we collectively wince at the moment they are found out, but then have to decide whether it’s worth sticking by them or not. Whether their good trumps their failings. Same goes here with Keith and news hosts. Since there’s not many others out there (1? 2? None?) that take on the important, real substantial issues of the day, I will easily look past some human imperfections (hubris, some issues with women) and watch his (sometimes incredibly) fearless show. I like Alison Stewart and hope she remains. And I think it was smart for Keith to apologize. Nothing wrong with a little contrition. Now, it’s back to what they do best: reporting the news.

    Comment by CalProf — July 24, 2007 @ 10:31 am

  43. Whether or not Mrs. Vitter forgave her blowhard husband is her business, but when she made the HC comment she put herself into the spotlight. When you’re in the public eye, you have to look at what you do, say and how you present yourself. That being said, I thought the dress showed how hypocritical the Republicans really are. It’s do as I say not as I do.
Think what the MSM would say if HC had chosen to appear in a sexy outfit after the impeachment fiasco. Right wingers would be on her like cold on ice!

    Comment by April — July 24, 2007 @ 10:41 am

  44. I am one of Mr. Vitter’s constituents, and let me tell you, Mrs. Vitter is no innocent bystander. At political functions, she works the room more than her husband does. She is truly the driving force behind the man, with as much political ambition as he. Notwithstanding the “family values” persona, Mrs. Vitter is almost a carbon copy of Hillery Clinton from a political animal perspective.

  50. apology was due and was unequivocal, I’m satisfied. I too dislike apologies for offenses and not for content, he didn’t do that. I thought the comments directed at her were over-the-line, even though I hate it when the spouse supports someone dispicable - not to mention hypocritical. I also hate it when pious hypocrites violate their religion and then claim that god has forgiven them. Very convenient. So are we to assume that to Vitter and his ilk visiting prostitutes is a family value?

Also, #62, so you think David Gregory, Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric have been kind to Bush? So does mumbling and raving consist of telling “the truth”? And if your guy had the b*3ls, why isn’t he out in the field like AC? Or, is hiding behind a desk hurling insults braver?

  64. Lurker… “here comes…”? Dude, they were there for like 50 of the 60 posts above you!

What I don’t understand is all the people giving the “she put herself into the public eye” line. What does that have to do with anything? Just because she was in the public, she can then be called a “ho”? Don’t confuse the two issues… try to stay on topic. It was (apparently) wrong for KO’s show to call her (or any other woman, ‘in the spotlight, or not) a “ho” because of what she was wearing. The end. All the other ‘blah-blah’ is fine and dandy, but has nothing to do with the apology story.

OH- And do all those Huff-ers who like to throw O’Reilly into the mix… for some reason (oh that’s right, KO’s only real claim to fame is that he regularly slanders O’Reilly… and that makes the left-wingers wet their pants)… right on! Remember when one of his guests gave the wrong info about those lesbian gangs… and he didn’t even apologies for it. Oh, oops… bad example, he did a whole segment on it, correcting the record, and interviewing a new guest to boot. Whoops… we’ll, I’m sure you guys will find other things to get mad at. I think some people confuse legitimacy with ‘I agree with their political opinion… but those are the same people who conflate opinion and fact.

She enjoys her husbands position and prestige within the GOP, and chose to live in a glass house and throw stones; her moral superiourity. She needs to grow up and handle it. There are no innocents, Let he that is without sin….Oh those pious church going wives! Surely, we all noticed her dress and wondered. Come on, a twin set and pearls would have been great…but an animal print body conscious dress!!! Perhaps a marriage of convenience, which is none of our business, unless????

  72. During the persecution of the Clintons, Ms. Vitter once said she was a lot more like Lorena Bobbitt than Hillary. The question here isn’t whether Ms. Vitter wore leopard-print, it’s whether she’s performed any alterations to the soon-to-be-EX Senator’s Anatomy. Oh, and Olbermann has a great show.

Ah well… it’s just a shame they don’t remember that even the Daily Kos said the story was inappropriate. I think when you stand to the left of the Kos-ies… you need to start getting worried about falling off the side of the Earth.

  78. The proof that the apology is sincere is if this type of thing ever happens again. It was a lapse in judgement to air the segment by an otherwise good group of broadcasters who have probably been harder on themselves than we can be. I see no reason why anyone needs to loose a job - the apology was offered in a heartfelt manner which is more than what we would expect of most of the other commentators out there today. Bravo to Olbermann and his crew.

  80. The right wing trolls are sure out today to try to discredit the only news show on the corporate media to have the balls to criticise the Bush Administration the way that it deserves and needs to be criticised. Keith’s show is an oasis of truth in a vast corporate media desert.

Excuse me while I try not to vomit from laughing too hard. Go back to HuffPo and tighten up that tin foil hat. Olbermann is a parody of himself and after the mild success he had with those “special comments” he is now stuck in fifth gear and the brakes are out.

I think when you stand to the left of the Kos-ies… you need to start getting worried about falling off the side of the Earth.

    ImNotBlue, Hahahah, great call.

The guy can’t even admit his partisan perspective, give me a break. I certainly agree the Administration deserves plenty of criticism, but the smug, self-righteous manner in which Keith delivers his rambling diatribes render him on par or beneath those he criticizes.

    Comment by Buck — July 24, 2007 @ 1:02 pm

  81. Oh yeah, it’s the Huffington Post Huffies out in force to support Keith in the apology they didn’t they he should have given because being the hypocrites they are, they see nothing wrong with branding a Republican woman a “ho”. It’s only when one of their own is described in deragatory terms that they go ballistic and demand resignations and people to be fired (i.e, Imus). The double-standard displayed by these people is truly amazing. What they won’t and don’t acknowledge (and Olbermann won’t apologize for) are his show’s many prior slams against women both famous and not. Usually his fans find some way of justifying it but there’s a real pattern at play here by Countdown to degrade women. At least Olbermann apologized for this one. But had he been hosting that night my guess is that he wouldn’t have. It’s easier to just blame it on Alison Stewart and be done with it, being the classy kind of guy Olbermann is: blame someone else is his motto.

And Huffers? Go back to huffing whatever chemical it is that makes YOU think that Olbermann is any better than the Fox Crew. Both of them are biased as hell, just from opposite ends of the political spectrum.

    Comment by Alison — July 24, 2007 @ 1:05 pm

  82. I am sure this free press has got Olbermann on cloud nine today! When the “Special Comments” made this big of a hit, Olbermann began rolling them out more and more often. So are we to expect that Olbermann has found an additional attention getter and will now offer his “followers” weekly “SPECIAL APOLOGIES”!

    Comment by Aunt Mary — July 24, 2007 @ 1:05 pm

  83. I’ve always maintained that if Fox leaned to the Left instead of the right, Olbermann would out O’Reilly, O’Reilly (and Hannity). It’s an act people. This is the same guy who was saying 2 years ago he’d vote for Rudy for president. Now he’s a liberal icon? It’s called ratings people–get a grip!

I’d like to offer an apology for Keith’s apology. Honestly Keith — to call her a ‘victim’ is a bit too much. I’ll tell you who the victim was and wasn’t her. It was Bill Clinton and Vitter’s sanctimonious assertions about him.

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

  101. Keith, your commentaries and political coverage are really top rate — especially when contrasted with the usually comatose mainstream media.

That said, there’s one part of your show I wish you didn’t have and that’s the catty comments about celebrities… most of the time it’s not even you making these comments, but I think there’s a danger in that kind of garbage spilling over into an otherwise fantastic show.

Your show is smart and funny… but I could easily live without the celebrity crap. Particularly the commentary by the male “Celebrity Gossip Columnist”. Please.. we’ve had enough of celebrities and the bottomfeeders who make a living talking about them.

I find it really ironic that the huffpo nutso’s come here and spew their vitriol, but the powers that be over there are EXTREMELY selective about the comments they allow to be posted. There have been quite a few times I have commented there completely disagreeing with something and it will not get posted. They don’t like to allow comments that are disagreeable.

That being said, all these posts just confirm everything most of us knew already, they are nutty over there. It is one thing to like KO, but it completely another to classify him as a journalist who is impartial. Ummm…hellooooo??? Disagree with and call out the admin. all you want, I am all for that, but take the tin foil hat off and stop drinking the kool aid first. Be LOGICAL about it, not fanatical. KO is fanatical.

What I thought was strange was that Mrs. Vitter was criticized as if she were in a garter belt and stockings, when what she was wearing was a version of a very popular style this Spring, a v-necked jersey wrap dress, in a print. Allison Stewart was wearing the SAME DRESS, albeit with longer sleeves and in a more subdued print. Can she have failed to notice this?

Oh, and I love when people justify bad behavior with more bad behavior. That always works! Coulter is a dope, who purposely says that can be taken out of context so that she gets to do the media circuit for a week longer than she should. But her knuckleheaded-ness doesn’t mean that KO’s show is allowed to go ahead and say whatever insulting things it wants. Are you people really suggesting that Ann Coulter is the measuring stick, and you’re can play down in the mud because she plays down in the mud? Aren’t you supposed to think you’re better in some way than your opposition, not try to make yourself equal?

I mean seriously, how can you say “She’s bad” and then say “It’s okay” without acknowledging the hypocrisy?

  142. What frickin’ enemy, Chickadee, you dope. There was no enemy of the United States in Iraq ’til it was invaded. Now there are plenty. Thanks to Republicans, the kiss-ass media who dared not question Republican lies, cowardly Democrats, and clueless hillbillies like you, spouting inanities like “You just hate Amurrica” every time somebody dared point out that Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11, nor did he possess weapons, much less was going to use them. Thank you, everybody- Republicans, Democrats, the media, and brain-dead rubes… thank you for over 3,600 Americans dead, not including contractors. Oh, and a little thing like 600,000 Iraqis dead, a million displaced within Iraq, and another million already fled over the border just carrying their possessions. Thank you, all… NOT! Oh, and did you notice you can’t say, “Well, at least gasoline is 99c a gallon because we invaded.” ‘Cause it’s over $3, you schmuck.

What was the left before Bush’s unprovoked war of agression against Iraq has now become the center. A large majority of the American people now recognize that Bush is incompetent, that the war on Iraq was a mistake, and that it cannot be won, so that we should get out as soon as we can. Public opinion has finally recognized that the right wing ideologues are ignorant and clueless.
They have been reduced to being a cult whose views are rejected by the mainstream of public opinion. This is overwhelmingly shown by the public opinion polls.

One should not be surprised that when you attack people they will, if they have the means, shoot back. If Bush had not engaged in an unprovoked war of agression against Iraq, the Iraqi’s would hot have been the enemy and would not have killed the troops. It is Bush who put the troops in harms way for no legitimate reason that is responsible for their death.

  150. Jen. Jen. Jen Jen ….Jen. Do you really, for one minute think that Hil forgave (and continues to forgive) Willies dalliances in perpetuity ?

    ———————–
Hillary is still married to Bill, isn’t she, Chickadee? Unlike the vast majority of Republicans who said “I do” two, three, even four times, she managed to keep her first and only marriage in tact. There was a time, this would’ve meant a great deal to Republicans..until, their own shady pasts have come to light, and shattered their holier-than-thou, bible-toting, family-values touting image.
Whether Hillary truly forgave Bill or not, who knows….just as we don’t know if Mrs. Vitter will ever trust her whore-mongering husband ever again.
But the fact remains that Wendy gloated, boasted and made it her business to comment on Bill’s adultery. So, now when she whines and complains about how her privacy has been violated by the media, I feel nothing for her…except maybe a trace of schadenfreude.

  161. Bigred, you are correct about certain Democrats’ complicity, and I pointed that out. The Republicans couldn’t have achieved their dastardly deeds without the collusion of the likes of Hillary. That, and a press that was asleep at the wheel, and dumb-as-a-tree-stump rubes like Chickadee. Put ‘em all together, and you get bogus wars. (Afghanistan is a crock of crap also.)

And make no mistake about it, everybody– there is only one reason she was so hawkish. This harridan, whom I’ve never considered a rocket scientist, was dopy enough to believe that the Iraq invasion and occupation would be a cakewalk, and it would look good for her in 2008 if she was for it; lousy for her if she was against it. She lost the bet. Oh, and a lot of American soldiers lost their lives and limbs.

Anybody who compares Hillary with Wendy Vitter may be off the mark. It is entirely possible that the Vitters had, and even now may have a real marriage; I don’t know. But I do know that the Clintons have maintained what can only be called a poltical partnership. That is the only reason they have stayed together, period. Want proof? Monica said this and I have no reason to disbelieve it: She asked Clinton if Hillary was a lesbian, as she (Monica) had heard. Clinton replied that he didn’t know, but hey, if it keeps her busy. That folks, is all you need to know about the Clinton’s marriage.

  163. Just because there’s no witness to tell us Mrs. Vitter’s marriage is one of convenience rather than one of love, doesn’t mean it is not.
Any woman who stays married to a man who has had continuing dealings with prostitutes, couldn’t possibly be doing so out of love.
I personally don’t give a rat’s behind why couples remain married or not…it’s none of my business..but I detest Republicans’ holier-than-thou’ness and their selective attacks and intrusions on such personal matters..and their cries of victimization when one of their own is caught in same transgressions. That’s all.

    Comment by Jenny — July 24, 2007 @ 11:20 pm

  164. Want proof that there was no intention of invading the countries that were responsible for 9/11? Here it is: Neither Saudi Arabia, were the highjackers were from and which funds most anti-American terrorist activities, nor Pakistan, which was and is a safe-haven for anti-American terrorists, INCLUDING Bin Laden, were invaded. Afghanistan has been a strategic prize for centuries, long before 9/11. The last to get their asses blasted off, before the USA, was the former Soviet Union. That there were training grounds there for terrorists was a pretext, bigRube. I mean bigRed. Terrorists can, and do, train everywhere. In Iraq now, thanks to Bushco. They didn’t before. Don’t worry your pretty lil head with reading and gaining knowledge, you gullible twits… when watching Fox News is so much easier.

HAHAHA… I really hope you’re not a real professor… or maybe you teach a class of stuffed animals… or who knows, you could be the leader of all the voices in your head.

  166. Hey Perfesser… we know most of the terrorists were born in Saudi Arabia.

Is that where they were trained? Is that where Bin Laden set up his training camps? Ummm, no. That would be AFGHANISTAN.

The hijackers were also in and out of the U.S., in Germany, etc. Should be bomb Germany too? How about the flight school where they trained here in the U.S.?

We went after their home base, killed or captured most of them, cut off their funding, listened to their conversations so they couldn’t hit us again and scattered the rest into caves where they’re cut off from the world.

All this, despite efforts from you and your ilk to prevent these things.

So what do you want us to do? Attack Saudi Arabia & Pakistan? No, because in your warped minds, Bush is evil and it’s all his fault.

So, just bow at the temple of your tinfoil hat god and scurry like rats back to Huff Po where the indoctrination and lunacy can continue.

    Comment by bigred — July 25, 2007 @ 1:03 am

  167. But wait… perhaps we’ve let the loons change the topic of this particular thread. They have, as usual, turned it into another “Bush bad! Republicans bad! Only we know!” shouting contest.

This thread IS about Keith Olbermann, apologizing for his show calling a woman (not really important who she is) a “Ho.” That’s it. That’s the bottom line, that the top line, that’s the only line on the page.

All the rest is blah-blah. So, either you think that KO SHOULDN’T have said his apologies, and he and his show should be able to call whomever they want a “Ho”… and therefore ALL journalists/commentators/hosts/actors can call anyone they want “Ho’s” as well. OR you think that there are certain words and phrases that do nothing to improve society, and are worthy of our scorn. That’s it. The end!

  168. Listen, Dumb and Dumber, the Taliban is back as strong as ever, and the 9/11 highjackers learned to fly in the USA. Bush had warned the Taliban long before 9/11 that they had better let the Carlyle Group (Bush Family & Friends) build a pipleline in Afghanistan, or he would bomb them. And he kept his word. Afghanistan, like Iraq, has as much to do with 9/11 as a popsicle has to do with the planet Jupiter.

How dumb can you get? Because I said Bush didn’t invade the nations responsible for 9/11, you think that means I think he should have invaded nations like Germany? How do you live day-to-day… how do you survive with so little grey matter? If you saw a sign that said WET FLOOR, would you?

At this point in time, only the hard-core gullible still fantasize about the neocons caring about protecting America. They care about war profits, Einstein. And it’s not like they or their kids ever fight. Of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Wolfowitz and Perle, not one of them has one minute of combat experience. That is for poor schnooks- and I feel sorry for them. But not guilty. I was against these phony wars from Day One, and told my elected officials.

How, I ask, can you be so inordinately proud of yourselves- never reading diverse material, never asking intelligent questions, never wanting to know anything, just mindlessly bleating, “You just hate Amurrica” when you are told the truth?

And for the record, I get my news from a very wide variety of sources. None of them are blue blogs or 9/11 conspiracy websites, although it is amusing to see what the moon bats think.

You are a gullible lazy-ass, and the price morons like you have inflicted on this nation is a river of debt and blood. I have never once espoused an American 9/11 conspiracy, and to me the proof was lil’ Georgie glued to his school book as the 9/11 attacks occurred. If he had known about it, he’d have dressed in military drag for the occasion. And to me that is the only proof that Bush wasn’t in on the scam. But I do say that he took advantage of it, confusing dim bulbs like you that Bin Laden and Saddam were the same person. This is my last posting on this topic, which was originally about horndog Dave Vitter and his tacky wife. Before I sign out, I would say that it is your self-love and vanity that keeps you from growing and learning; it would just kill your ego to find out that you’ve been hoodwinked like a lazy, clueless rube. The neocons and I have one thing in common- we recognize you as easy, vulnerable, and lazy of mind enough to support wars for oil and profit while fresh-faced kids come home in boxes. Please be specific and tell me what your “hero” Clinton did for 8 years to help rid the US & the world of Bin Laden & the Taliban??? We had the ability to eliminate him during the 90’s and instead of acting on it he was busy with other issues (Monica…hmmm)

I remember the first Trade Center bombing in which he referred to it as a “criminal act” vs. what it really was which was an act of terrorism.

So, to all of you Michael Moore Moonbats out there…grow up & get a job & get a life.

You folks remind me of my exwife and her nutty theories regarding JFK (honestly believes JFK didn’t have any affairs), Clinton (initially didn’t believe he cheated on Hillary and then when he admitted to doing so, said it didn’t matter), and then 9/11 (the CIA, FBI, NSA were all behind it)…

He’s not one of them. I’d be worried that his kind of crazy is contagious.
And talk about jumping from one topic to another, with no logic in between! I can only imagine what his dinner conversation would be like:
“Honey could you pass the salt?” says the guest.
    “Looks like rain.”
    “Oh, does it?”
“I got a flat tire today.”
