  1. So, the Huffpo hype over the apology lifted KO to his “dominance” of 3rd place.

    Comment by eddiebear — July 25, 2007 @ 5:27 pm

  2. I guess apologies don’t equal ratings.

    Comment by bigred — July 25, 2007 @ 5:41 pm

  3. wow, big number for abrams at 9pm. more in the demo then olbermann!

Comment by Chris (My Two Sense) — July 25, 2007 @ 5:41 pm

  4. Conservative columnist and former Reagan speech writer Peggy Noonan said the following in a recent article:

I’m not referring to what used to be called Bush Derangement Syndrome. That phrase suggested that to passionately dislike the president was to be somewhat unhinged. No one thinks that anymore.

Considering where we stand today and looking back on the sniveling or deranged comments made on this board about KO, it is clear now that the Fox News channel and its viewers are the truly unhinged elements in our society.

While many Americans choose to watch reruns of “Friends” or “Seinfield” in lieu of news programs, it is clear that KO represents the viewpoint of a majority of Americans. On the other hand Fox News represents the viewpoint of YOU the Fox viewer and nobody else.

Keith, it is high time you award the Worst Person in the World dishonor to the total Fox News viewing audience for their unabashed subservience to far right propaganda.

    Comment by elmonica — July 25, 2007 @ 5:59 pm

  5. Elmo, there’s one BIG problem w/ your ridiculous point. If the majority agrees with Olbermoron, then why does his show finish in a tie for 13th place… while FOX continues to dominate every single time slot?

Elmo, you’re not mainstream. Never have been. Never will be.

    Comment by bigred — July 25, 2007 @ 6:04 pm

  6. And you are a bastion of mainstream thought Red. A troll who comments on Olbermannwatch and regularly integrates some derivation of the word “douche” into their comments.

    Comment by elmonica — July 25, 2007 @ 6:11 pm

  7. “A troll who comments on Olbermann Watch”? Since when? Please provide the link of a comment I’ve made on Olbermann Watch.

    Or are you describing yourself?

    Comment by bigred — July 25, 2007 @ 6:18 pm

  8. elmonica, it’s not bigred, you paranoid silly goose, it’s me on Olbermannwatch!!! LOL

    Comment by Noelle — July 25, 2007 @ 6:38 pm

  9. Edward,
Please get a hold of a database for Olbermannwatch.com (the old website) and perform a search to see if there was a commenter who posted under the name BigRed and used a derivation the word “douche” in a post. I remember clearly when I first started commenting on this board checking JD’s site out and seeing that.

    Comment by elmonica — July 25, 2007 @ 6:44 pm

  10. Okay, hands down, Keith Olbermann has the craziest fans, ever. The Anderson Cooper fans might be more devoted but at least they worship a real journalist, not an ex-sports anchor who pretends to be an “unbiased journalist”.

    Comment by Alison — July 25, 2007 @ 6:58 pm

  11. The folks over at MSNBC are calling Hilary Satan. They can’t say Imus was the only one that felt that way. It was like common studio talk this morning. No big deal. Joe Scarborough while talking to Barnacle and Pat Buchanan used the term Satan to refer to Hilary. I replayed it just to make sure. My feeling is if Joe Scarborough calls Hilary Satan, the crew must have similar feelings.

    Comment by JAB — July 25, 2007 @ 7:01 pm

  12. Anderson used to be a real journalist, now he’s just a celebrity. A real journalist would never have done an hour on Paris Hilton or any segment on Lindsey Lohan.

    Comment by Mary Snow — July 25, 2007 @ 7:05 pm

  13. Bigred,
Time to join reality. Like it or not only around 27% of the public approves of the job Bush is doing. Fox News and the delusional right wing can spin the facts all they want, but most Americans disagree with this administration. Olbermann may not get the most viewers, but his ideaology is consistant with that of most Americans.

    Comment by RYSS — July 25, 2007 @ 7:06 pm

  14. I don’t think most Americans are far-left kooks. I think most Americans are centrists. KO is a far-left KOok.

    Comment by JMK24 — July 25, 2007 @ 7:14 pm

  15. #12 - what’s the matter, Mary? “Andy” let you down?

    Comment by Arthur — July 25, 2007 @ 7:15 pm

  16. These numbers cannot be correct. Just yesterday, David Bauder of the Associated (with terrorists) Press declared that 8 p.m. is “dominated” by “Bill O’Reilly of Fox News and Keith Olbermann”. Thus, there is no way that Olbermann could have tied for THIRD place out of FIVE after the “report” from Bauder declaring that Olbermann “dominated” 8 p.m. along with O’Reilly.

    Comment by Tom — July 25, 2007 @ 7:20 pm

  17. While I don’t appreciate any air time for Paris Hilton I do realize as long as I’m watching cable I’m going to get it like it or not. There are many people on cable news networks that are true journlists, AC included but sadly from time to time, even true journalists are forced to dish out fluff.BTW, from ratings it is obvious many viewers want the fluff and as long as they do the rest of us will either have to tune out or go with the flow.

    Comment by myview — July 25, 2007 @ 7:24 pm

  18. 13. You are an idiot. When Bush’s ratings are low, the majarity is right. When Fox News has the most viewers (ratings are high) the majarity is wrong. You cant have it both ways.

    Comment by Tom P — July 25, 2007 @ 7:30 pm

  19. #13, Have you noticed the approval ratings for the DEMOCRAT controlled Congress? They’re lower than Bush’s and the lowest in history.

Olbermann’s ideology falls right in line w/ the Dems in Congress… yet only 14% of Americans agree with them. So how does that possibly jibe w/ what you’re saying.

Bush does a lot of things that I don’t agree with… It has to do with job performance.

Most Americans are not ultra-lib kooks like Olbermann who are convinced Bush and all Republicans are evil and can never, ever do anything right.

Most Americans are in the middle.

    Comment by bigred — July 25, 2007 @ 7:37 pm

  20. 13. You are an idiot. When Bush’s ratings are low, the majarity is right. When Fox News has the most viewers (ratings are high) the majarity is wrong. You cant have it both ways.

The majOrity is probably not watching television news, Tom P. Or are you suggesting that whoever gets the highest ratings should be able to pick our representation? Say hello to President Lindsay Lohan then.

#13, Have you noticed the approval ratings for the DEMOCRAT controlled Congress? They’re lower than Bush’s and the lowest in history.

They are lower than Bush’s ratings because people felt like electing a Democratic congress would mean they (the congress) would be able to stop Bush’s insane war. That the Congress does NOT control the military does not apparently register with the public, who now blames Congress for not being able to stop the administration from continuing their rampage. See current polling on impeachment.

    Question:
Do you favor or oppose the US House of Representatives beginning impeachment proceedings against President George W. Bush?
    7/5/07 Favor Oppose Undecided
    All Adults 45% 46% 9%
    Voters 46% 44% 10%

  21. Who is Edward???

    Comment by Noelle — July 25, 2007 @ 8:09 pm

  22. Who is Edward?

Edward Schatz is a contributor to Olbermannwatch.com. While he is politically misguided in my opinion and disagrees with me on most things, I believe he would try to be a fair arbiter in resolving this dispute.

    Comment by elmonica — July 25, 2007 @ 8:24 pm

  23. Actually, Arthur, Congress can just cut off funding. They are just too afraid to take a strong stand because they want to put a dem in the White House, and would hate to look like the anti-military pinkos they are.

    Comment by JMK24 — July 25, 2007 @ 8:41 pm

  24. I stand corrected — yesterday I predicted that Olbermann would get over 900,000 Tuesday in lieu of all the free press and excitement for his followers. I was so wrong and surprised. Could this mean that many of those commenters are only repeating what they read on the web and most do not even know what channel Olbermann’s show is on since they do not really ever watch it!

    Comment by Aunt Mary — July 25, 2007 @ 9:18 pm

  25. Fox seems to be missing some friends in the morning… Numbers are down a bit.

O’Reilly’s 11pm has been fluctuating a bit lately - Perhaps just a summer thing.

Special Report and Fox Report both up a bit on their averages as well.

    Comment by F101 — July 25, 2007 @ 9:47 pm

  26. Elmonica, I appreciate your belief that I would be fair in such a dispute. I did a search through the logs of “big red” and “bigred” in the comment area. I got no results. That does not mean BigRed has not posted there, rather that no one has used that handle. You commented once, on 6.21.07, stating “Edward,
I would of liked to have read your take on Keith calling out Newt Gingrich as the fat new good liar that he is.”

    Comment by Edward Schatz — July 26, 2007 @ 12:18 am

  27. Let me amend that statement, someone using the handle “elmonica” made that comment. That may or may not have been you, to be fair.

    Comment by Edward Schatz — July 26, 2007 @ 12:21 am

  28. Now wait a second Edward. How far back do your log files go? I admit making that comment but that was from June 21st 07 and I am talking about a year ago prior to your involvement as a contributor. The database and log files haves probably been truncated since then if not replaced.

    Comment by elmonica — July 26, 2007 @ 12:42 am

  29. Certainly possible. I typed in my own name and it went back to April of this year when I started. I don’t know how far back the logs go; JD or Mr. Cox would be better suited on that front. As I said, I am not saying he never posted, just nothing that a simple search could pull up. An IP would be more useful but I don’t think I can do those kind of searches

    Comment by Edward Schatz — July 26, 2007 @ 12:58 am

  30. The fact remains that Mónica made an unfounded accusation, and, until some evidence comes to light, should apologize to bigred. Up to it, M?

    Comment by erljr — July 26, 2007 @ 1:29 am

  31. HLN should move Showbiz to 9pm and move Beck to
the 11 spot.I think Showbiz could top Abrams.

    Comment by future tv mogul — July 26, 2007 @ 2:10 am

  32. Earl, the only thing I would owe an apology for is assuming that the same person who posted on Olbermannwatch a year ago under the alias BigRed is the same person that posts here.

As far as my calling BigRed a troll, she has called me many names much more disparaging including a snide reference to my parents that I never retaliated for. Further he/she did use the word “douchebaggery” the other day so there is nothing to take back there.

As far as your input Earl goes, I don’t especially respect your evenhandedness on this matter so I won’t consider your request. If Spud thinks I owe an apology for a personal attack then I would consider it.

Calling Johnny Dollar: As a truthseeker, would you please check your database and/or logs for your old site (if they still exist) and inform us if somebody with the alias BigRed had commented on your old site. BigRed can still deny he/she wrote it.

    Comment by elmonica — July 26, 2007 @ 2:28 am

  33. Why don’t you use Google search to find it yourself Elmonica? Or are you too busy defending Olbermann elsewhere on the internets?

    Comment by Alison — July 26, 2007 @ 7:30 am

  34. Did anyone see the old Don Imus picture with his tounge sticking with the Honkie caption out on Abrams last night?! Somebody was screwing with him! I never watch that show but was changing the channel and it was the story about the convicts who killed the family in CT.

    Comment by jules — July 26, 2007 @ 9:35 am

  35. Jules, No I missed it. What a odd thing for MSNBC to do while discussing the murdered family in CT though.
I wonder why they did that?

    Comment by Noelle — July 26, 2007 @ 10:12 am

  36. As soon as you guys stop drinking the Fox News Kool-Aid, you’ll notice that Olbermann at least backs up his talk with facts, unlike the lies and hypocrisy that O’Reilly does night after night after night.

    Comment by jLo — July 26, 2007 @ 10:29 am

  37. I heard about the picture too but didn’t see it - Imus fans know the picture but most probably wouldn’t because it’s from when he was much younger. Sounds to me like there are some Imus fans left at MSNBC who want Abrams to look bad.

    Comment by Melanie — July 26, 2007 @ 10:36 am

  38. I hope it ends up on UTube

    Comment by Melanie — July 26, 2007 @ 10:47 am

  39. It is true I get bored in the morning with Fox and Friends I switch btw American Morning and Headline News, what is her name? and then I end up on VH1. Did you know if you have fat friends, they can make you fat, somekind social contamination study? uh huh now I guess the people who report these “Studies” would like people who are fat to also be friendless? I know it is summer, I am thinking maybe I will just start my own Study on how much crap, I spot on cablenews. I have not heard anymore about the South Korean Hostages in Afghanistan isn’t this news?

    Comment by Ree — July 26, 2007 @ 11:00 am

  40. Yes, it was the picture of Imus with the caption “That Honky is Nuts” and it came on after mug shots of the murderers. I hope it gets on U Tube.

    Comment by jules — July 26, 2007 @ 11:21 am

  41. Elmo, exactly what reference to your parents did I make? You come on this blog and drop bombs on a daily basis… attacking anyone who watches FOX and anyone who might be a conservative. We don’t demand apologies from you. We just expect you to get as good as you give.

    Comment by bigred — July 26, 2007 @ 12:23 pm

  42. Listen, the “Fox drinking Kool-Aid” comments are ridiculous, at least in my case. I seldom watch Fox unless it’s Shep Smith or it’s the weekend and no one else is doing live news except Fox. And for the record, I’ve always considered myself a Democrat although these days, utterly disgusted with both the GOP and Democratic field of candidates, I think I’m an agnostic where politics are concerned. Olbermann is no different than O’Reilly, the only thing that seperates them (other than O’Reilly’s willigness to actually go to Iraq, etc.) is the sides of the political extreme they represent. Neither are journalists, just loud-mouthed, egotistical opinionists. The idea that Olbermann thinks he’s a journalist is what is so laughable to me, and that there are those who fall down at his feet and worship every word he utters because he’s pushing a political agenda you happen to agree with. How exactly does that make you any different than the conservatives who watch Fox for the same reasons? Let me clue you in, it doesn’t. So get a grip on reality, stop believing the hype that Olbermann is Murrow incarnate, and realize that he’s just the liberal O’Reilly, with worse ratings.

    Comment by Alison — July 26, 2007 @ 1:15 pm

  43. I heard about the Don Imus Honkey picture on Abrams Live too! We’re trying to get it on UTube - who did it? It couldn’t have been intentional.

    Comment by Melanie — July 26, 2007 @ 2:26 pm

  44. Well, If they did put Imus’s picture on air then that makes me think something is up. Is he coming back to MSNBC? Hmmmm…I would be surprised if he came back to MSNBC because Keith O, Al Roker and Matt Lauer and a few others dissed him on air and wanted him fired.
Or are they dissing Imus even more by showing the picture because Imus is going to another network?

    Comment by Noelle — July 26, 2007 @ 3:07 pm

  45. No way he’s going back to MSNBC. There are rumors about which channel he’ll be on but it won’t be MSNBC/NBC with Olbermann and Roker.

    Comment by Melanie — July 26, 2007 @ 3:56 pm

  46. Someone has to bite the bullett and watch MSNBC and see if it happens again…or is this what they are trying to do trick us into watching MSNBC for encoded-mistakes (ROFL) Is this why Dan Abrams ratings are up? Alright I will stop I know I am having too much fun.

    Comment by Ree — July 26, 2007 @ 5:56 pm

  47. Wow, I just happened to look at this and here’s a big dust up between el and bigred. And now I am called upon to settle the question of who posted where on Olbermann Watch? I’m afraid I don’t have any more search authorizations than Mr Schatz does.

But what I don’t get is why you need someone else to do your searching for you. There is Google you know. Try this:

    http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aolbermannwatch.com+bigred

A lot easier than trying to find someone to poke around in a database, no?
