FNC’s uReport in action…
FNC’s uReport continues to generate viewer response to participate in breaking news stories. Last week, two FOX News’ viewers submitted uReport videos of the Dallas, TX fire caused by a chemical explosion. Using these videos, FNC was able to show viewers what was going on right outside of the chemical plant that exploded and did a phone interview with the viewer who described first-hand the footage submitted.

Maybe I am a little mean or something, but this almost sounds like an advertisement for FNC for a product they have used on a rare rare rare occasion since they originally launched it a few months ago.

I noticed FNC has promos for Ureport all the time.. But, apparently, getting footage from their viewers is scarce!

Imagine that!!! Probably because their elderly viewing audience does not know how to send a Ureport.

Maybe it’s scarce because their viewers, (the crazy old mean) don’t or rather can’t leave their chairs.

I love how it always gets down to childish political bashing on here.
You report has been very underused since it launched, infact ive never seen it in action (unless this graphic is new) I think “U-Report” was always just Fox’s responce to CNN’s “I-Report” Fox were slamed at the time for copying CNN, who did come up with the idea first. However i think Fox would have been foolish not to use this technology in the same way as CNN.
“U-Report” needs a permanent home on FNC. I would suggest a few minuet compilation of the weeks best videos on Saturday & Fox Online

^ Better make that a compilation for a couple of months.. I don’t think they have enough footage otherwise. With that said, I agree.. it makes perfectly good sense for FNC to solicit viewers’ video of breaking news. However, pushing the promos all the time reeks of desperation. Perhaps some of the “fox fans” around here can put their time to better use.

Isn’t anyone realizing that there are tons of sicko viewers who are so itching to get their submission aired that they are willing to create their own self induced tragedies as well as feeling no regrets, stepping over the corpses created by the 15 minutes of fame owed them? Creepy…ain’t it. Who would have expected this viewpoint from me? What?

Well Roger, like with any other form of intake, the networks like to confirm stories before they show video or information on-screen or online, sometimes labeling them a “Report:” then making a point that “we have not confirmed this story ourselves”.
Also, returning to the main topic, the main issue FNC has with something like this is that I honestly don’t believe their viewers have the know-how that viewers of the other networks may have of technology, plus FOX has the right the issue that their website is below every other network and a number of other non-TV news websites for that matter.
Also, CNN.com has a link to i-Report on the top of their page and a little section half-way down, but FNC has the oddball link at the very bottom of the page.

The Fox News website is very poor i think. Its not updated enough, for example many of the bio’s are out of date.
However to say “I honestly don’t believe their viewers have the know-how that viewers of the other networks may have of technology” does not make sense to me, as Fox has the most views in the 25-54 demo, and young people are better with technology than old…which Fox also has alot of.

Well, FNC’s paltry website could be to blame.. Along with the below average number of visitors.. Also there is a link on Studio B’s page in the left hand column along with this lower, “uReport Send us your photos and videos! Submit your images and video from your computer or your mobile device” Which seems kind of strange considering the only other link I know of is nestled at the bottom of their main page. They need to have it featured prominently. Btw, what kind of pics or video do they want? Is this like America’s funniest home videos? Or is it for breaking news?

Terance: Below average with visitors?
According to Alexa.com, the Fox News website still ranks No. 70 in traffic among all websites viewed in the US. CNN is No. 16 and I did not find MSNBC in the Top 100.

Ira, one word sums up FNC’s web presence, P A L T R Y !!!!
MSNBC&CNN also “paddle” FNC in the web streaming dept., but I’m sure ya already knew that.
“In September, MSNBC.com recorded 26.7 monthly unique viewers, according to Nielsen//NetRatings. CNN.com came in second with 24.6 million, followed by ABCNews.com with 10.6 million, CBSNews.com with 8.7 million, and FOXNews.com with 7.9 million.”
