Bridge Collapse: 11pm update…
At 11pm all three cable news channels are still live covering the developing story. Anderson Cooper continues to anchor coverage for CNN. Keith Olbermann is still live on MSNBC. Trace Gallagher has taken over coverage on FNC.
UPDATE: At Midnight, Dan Abrams took over for Keith Olbermann on MSNBC, Jamie Colby and David Asman took over for Trace Gallagher on FNC, and Anderson Cooper stayed on the air at CNN…

Yes, FNC, MSNBC and CNN are live on the story, but Headline News has got some people on discussing Whoppi Goldberg! I know they’ve gone tabloid, but you’d think they’d have a little discretion tonight and maybe just simulcast what CNN is showing. There may be people stuck at airports or other places throughout the country that are watching TVs turned to HN.

MSNBC is dominating late.
Gallagher needs to go back to local news. Anderson Cooper is not packing any journalistic punch. HLN is all tabloid tonight.

Cooper is on the phone w/ some survivors from the school bus. CNN International is still simulcasting the domestic channel.

The amazing thing is, MSNBC is doing pretty well and I though Keith was actually standable when he does straight news like this. If anything, the early evening was owned by FNC, but the later evening is all MSNBC from the bits and pieces I’ve watched during the later part of the evening.
If anything, Trace honestly just needs to go back to the background and not return to hosting duties. Watching him back in his Studio B/FOX Report days, and watching bits and pieces of tonights coverage, he just doesn’t work as a host. Send him back to Cali and let him be a correspondent, please!
On Anderson, he just doesn’t seem to be on-top of his like Wolfe was earlier tonight.

Still are more than 50 vehicles under the water… Will be sad to know the final death toll…
CNN International is now Live from London. Cooper is still Live for one more hour.

Yeah. I didn’t catch that until a few minutes after I made that update…

I think Trace did great tonight. But I agree with Chris (clind) on Olbermann. He was very watchable and together and informative - without a script for much of it I might add - for his full three-hour stint. Abrams not so much.

Hello,
I’ve been watching the MSNBC coverage of the bridge collapse. I saw hundreds of rescue workers mobilized quickly. And there were also many of the people involved in the disaster helping each other quickly in a seemingly organized fashion.
My question is about the level of improvement in disaster response for both the professional teams and especially if the ordinary person is more aware of the organization and cooperation needed for best effectiveness of the rescues due to the coverage of all the recent disasters on TV, i.e. 9-11, Katrina, earthquakes, tsunami, etc.
I would like to a comparison of a typical disaster response in the 90’s (maybe even earlier) and how we, as a society, responded yesterday. Thanks!

4am: CNN is Live, MSNBC is in tape, I think Fox is too because there is no live bug up on the screen.

D’Anna: this morning CNN actually has footage of the bridge collapsing.
So did ABC’s “GMA” at 7am. I was watching “F&F First” and “F&F” but didn’t see that they had any video footage of the actual collapse itself yet. Checking out FNC and MSNBC during the 10am hour, it looks like the CNN tape has made it to them as they are both running it now.
