Tuesday’s Numbers…

It appears that CNN’s Dick Cheney interview exclusive on Larry King Live was a non-event as far as the ratings are concerned. There doesn’t appear to be any discernable change from King’s usual ratings “trading range”.

  1. Damn Paula got more demo viewers than Larry LOL

Looks like Blabberman settled back to his comfy #4 slot…wonder if a “sPsUl kOmMnT” is on the way…

  2. Hardball has not been doing well lately. Chris Matthews is on vacation this week (have seen Mike Barnacle filling in the past two days), but still his ratings are usually better than that. Perhaps people are tuning out of the inside the beltway stuff?

Look at the major dropoff with the second hour of Anderson Cooper’s viewership - I wonder if they should just have 1 hour of Anderson Cooper 360 and follow MSNBC’s lead and have a documentary or something on at 11. They would probably pull better ratings if they did.

  3. Geeze, I thought it was O’Reilly who just had OLD people watching. The people watching Olby must be lying next to Oscar the Death Cat.

  4. I think KO’s money demo has fled. Where did they go?

  5. The morning doesn’t seem to be getting better for Joe. Take a hint Joe. Go back to evening. I sense a special comment from KO soon.

  6. Agreed, Alix - I don’t think Joe Scarborough is going to work out in the morning.
MSNBC either has to find a better fix (Tucker Carlson fared better, in my opinion, although I don’t think he would pose a threat to CNN either) or go back to Imus when he returns to the radio with their hats in hand (very unlikely Imus would go back to MSNBC).

Dan Abrams should spend less time with his new 9pm show and more time as a general manager.

  7. 5 and 6– Joe was off yesterday. Please take the time to watch before trashing his numbers– or don’t watch and just keep quiet.

  8. The second hour of 360 is just a repeat of the entire first hour, which is part of the reason for the drop-off in viewers.

    Comment by Marty — August 1, 2007 @ 7:51 pm

  9. #7: Joe may not have been in, but Joe gets the same low #s and they will find another host all together or scrap the whole morning program. Either way, Joe would be out of a job if he doesn’t take his evening job back.

    Comment by Alix — August 1, 2007 @ 8:56 pm

  10. Wow…that is a really, really low demo for KO. The demo used to be the best part about his ratings, but lately has he even finished 2nd one time?

    Comment by bigred — August 1, 2007 @ 9:56 pm

  11. I know chickadee, MSNBC then should just get rid of live news and have documentaries all day

    Comment by Chet — August 1, 2007 @ 11:15 pm

  12. just bring Imus back PLEASE!

    Comment by cas — August 2, 2007 @ 7:21 am

  13. MSNBC execs must be losing sleep knowing Imus will be back soon - can their morning ratings sink any lower? Apparently, so. It’s odd they keep Mika on when so few like her but if they had any business sense, they wouldn’t have fired Imus and infuriated their base which was plain old dumb.

My husband and I are in the key demo and we quit watching KO months ago. I think people realize he has Bush Derangement Syndrome and have tuned him out.

So where did my nemesis, pp, go?

    Comment by Melanie — August 2, 2007 @ 10:20 am

  14. Mel,

PP and Hmmm got in an arguement or something awhile back. For what they are paying Mika, I would have her doing the weather too..I think she should do hourly updates of tabloid news 1 to 2 minutes and since she likes schtick so much, I would have her to do it with satire. If MSNBC wants to copy The Daily Show on Comedy Central, they should go all the way!

  15. Wasn’t it determined that peoplepeople was in fact Dan(the man w/o a plan) Abrams…I think he figured he’s better start paying attention to his job and start making $$$ for MSNBC or he’ll be w/o a job…personally, I think the MSNBC ship has sailed…they’re beyond help/hope

  16. I always thought pepe was Keith Olbermann’s mother. I wonder where he went - got used to him calling all of us Imus fans stupid.

I agree that MSNBC must be losing sleep anticipating Imus’ return! They had on Willie, who with Tucker was the best of the mediocre bunch but once Mika starts yapping, I always turn the channel. I hear Ridley is gone but why not Mika?

  22. NBC/MSNBC lost a LOT of loyal viewership when they made that knne-jerk decision to listen to Al Sharpy and others. You have to know that when they close their eyes at night, they could just cry…they messed up BIG TIME!!!
