  1. I probably won’t watch this. Can’t stand Rivera, he’s trashy and I can’t help but doubt his sincerity or lack thereof. He seems more like a vulture.

I wish they would break ties with him.

  2. Amen to that! I am so tired of FNC shoving him down our throats. Enough!

  3. I wholeheartedly agree. Geraldo is tabloid journalism and has proven to have little credibility over and over again. I have no interest in watching him.

  4. I can’t understand why FNC hangs on to this ghoul.

  5. Ditto.

  6. I like him. Maybe not amazing journalist, but he is one of the best investigative reporters about and a very good host. He deserves the 5pm slot much more than Gibson

  7. He doesn’t deserve any slot. I’m so tired of his “National Enquirer” mentality. There are too many good anchors at FNC to give this jerk another chance.

  8. If you are tired of the “National Enquirer” mentality, I dont think you should be watching cable news.

I love tabliod style news. Its fun and interesting to watch. DONT BE A NEWS SNOB!

  9. Don’t be such a judge Craig. Not reading National Enquirer doesn’t disqualify me from watching cable news - or having an opinion.

  10. Youre right Dee i was being judgemental. What i was trying to comment on was the merger between entertainment and news thats taking place in cable right now.

To a certain extent i do like it, but they do tent to go a bit OTT. What i dont like is people who think there should be no car chases and that all shows hould be presented in the format of NBC nightly news. Sorry thats boring for 30min let alone 24/7 and on a channel that runs 24/7 i think a break fro hard news is needed…yes its news porn but its fine in context i think.

  11. Craig, you are a gentleman and a scholar. I agree that dry news 24/7 is just that. Perhaps that’s why Shep is so good. He knows when to break it up. I’ve often wondered what would it would be like to have TWO male anchors on a news show (not like H&C). After watching Shep & Trace interact last night, I think that’s something I’d like to see

    Comment by Dee — August 2, 2007 @ 9:49 pm

  12. Dee - I agree - I’d love to see Shep, Trace, and Rick Leventhal do something as a team, personally.

As for Geraldo, he’s on every show as an expert on every subject…it gets old and that in itself, to me, is worse than any subject FNC covers.

    Comment by Gab — August 2, 2007 @ 10:14 pm

  13. Gab I’m with you. Only how do we make it happen? Picket FNC? Or e-mail Roger Ailes over and over and over, etc.

  14. For me, Geraldo jumped the shark when he was covering the Superdome during Hurricane Katrina. He was passionate and screaming for help on behalf of the people there, but he also couldn’t help slip in a reference to Willowbrook (the mental hospital he did an expose on about 30 years ago and won an emmy for). It was a shameless quip of self-promotion that had me shaking my head.

That aside, Geraldo’s mad lib gone wild approach to his reporting is just too much. It’s quite apparent how terrible the bridge collapse…Geraldo’s sensationalism is not required.
Besides, with the wall-to-wall coverage the past 2 days, aside from what the President has to say there won’t be much to add to the story aside from the discovery of victims buried underneath the rubble or what exactly lead to the collapse (which will take months to determine).

  15. Why Fox continues to cram this fool down our throats I will
never understand. It never fails to make me change the
    channel.

  16. IMO, the real reason Geraldo is employed at FNC is for one reason. And its called name recognition.

    Comment by Terance — August 3, 2007 @ 8:27 am

  17. Liz,
That’s exactly what I do for Geraldo and Banderas, whether it’s their show or their expert opinion on another show. When I think their time is up, I return to the program. I
just go down 1 channel to court TV or I have been watching the CNN specials, which aren’t too bad.

  18. Please spare us from this self-absorbed pompous jerk.

    Comment by PF — August 3, 2007 @ 9:08 am

  19. Thank God Geraldo and Greta are on the scene.

Maybe now they can get Paris, Britney and Lindsey’s take on this tragedy.

  20. Rivera should have been shoved into Al Capone’s safe and the door locked behind him. He only signed onto FNC so he could work next to Laurie(sexy lips)Do-me!
