Dodd vs. O’Reilly: write-ups…

The Hartford Courant’s David Lightman writes about last night’s showdown on FNC…

O’Reilly asked Dodd why he wouldn’t distance himself from the cartoon. Dodd said he was “stunned” that O’Reilly went after the Daily Kos because of what a few people may have posted. “You ought to be far more candid with your viewing audience here and tell them your real objection here is the ideology of Daily Kos,” the senator said.

O’Reilly called the cartoon “vile.” Dodd shot back, “There’s a lot of things you say are vile on a daily basis in my view.”

“What about the cartoon, Senator? What about it?” O’Reilly asked.

“No, no, no, listen,” Dodd said, his voice rising.

“What do you mean, no, no, no. It’s been up there for a year,” O’Reilly replied.

The two were almost stepping on one another’s words. An increasingly angry Dodd said that of course he didn’t like the cartoon, but “that’s not the issue.”

“Of course that’s the issue,” said O’Reilly. “That’s what they do. That’s what they do on the site. They do that hate stuff all the time.”

  1. Dodd just lost his cool, and was almost screaming to accuse O’Reilly of ideological bias and refusing to answer questions posed to him. To me, he appeared quite clueless, with his almost incredible whining that only a “few people”
were posting those hateful words on the DailyKos.

It’s no wonder Dodd is nose-to-nose with Kucinich on the bottom rung of the Democratic presidential ladder. He showed no statesmanship or any intellectual prowess, just
a lot of animus and dishonesty.

  2. Even more priceless was Dennis Miller’s take on it. I kinda agree with him about why even give the guy a forum but then, on the other hand, we wouldn’t get to see what a “hack” he is. It was priceless.

  3. That was some cheap theater and I admit every once in awhile, I enjoy watching some rock em- sock em robots. My guilty pleasure! Dennis Miller gets it, he just doesn’t want to get any on him (SMILE) Bill O’Reilly, showing the other news channels how it is done! My husband knows better then to touch the remote when the Factor is on.
