1/2 Hour News Hour Profile…

The Buffalo News has an article on FNC’s 1/2 Hour News Hour…

Taped at 20th Century Fox Studios in Los Angeles, the show, which premiered in February, features actors playing news anchors reading a mix of fake news and jokes about real news — yet it airs on a real news channel.

Fox News apparently isn’t worried about viewers getting confused, even though Kurt Long and Jennifer Robertson— who play newsreaders Kurt McNally and Jennifer Lange — have appeared on such Fox News shows as “The O’Reilly Factor.” A special episode of “The z Hour News Hour” airs after “O’Reilly” on at 9 p.m. Sunday.

“Does it confuse people?” asks Bill Shine, senior vice president of programming for Fox News. “No. Look, we have to give our viewers a little more credit than that. They’re certainly very smart. They can figure that out. We introduce the actors as who they are, put up their names as to who they are and what they do … so, no, our audience gets that.

  1. It doesn’t confuse FNC’s audience because they are already confused.

  3. if Rupert Murdoch wanted a broke mans comedy channel he already has one, the smart thing to do would try to Acquire comedy centeral or somthing stop making a mockery of the so called #1 news channel…

then again we are talking about a news channel who made a stupid comedy show to mock the daily show, what a joke
dont get me wrong he should of just put it on the regular FOX channels and run it after the simpsons and family guy

  5. I am from Buffalo and can tell you this is the poster child for liberalism gone bad. Buff has lost 60& of its population since 1960, taxes are highest in the US ( a 500K house pays 30K prop taxes a year. Garbage men make 80K a year w/8 paid weeks vacation and i could go on.

4 of the top 5 employers are government, believe me the Buffalo news is so out of touch with reality that THEY probably think 1/2 hour news hour is REAL!

PS you can buy houses in Buff for negative 2000$ Yes they will PAY you to take a house for 1 dollar.

  6. foxmeansbusiness, thanks for the background on Buffalo.
The statement from that writer about Fox’s viewers getting confused was a clear slam (obviously). But too bad - it is a great program, and probably does better than any other “news” program shown on either CNN or MSNBC.

I did not like the program at first, but now it’s a “must see” for me. I especially like those “ACLU” segments, and the way Jenn cringes when she reads certain stories.

and no one bid on it! Not to be too harsh on the people of Buffalo but all the smart ones left!

PS Hey why am I still here?

  8. I have news for all you Fox bashers, wait JUST wait till FBC airs on Oct 15th. Sure they will talk business during the day but do you really think that prime time will be business too?

If the Fox bashers hate Fox News they will REALLY hate FBC.

Dont be surprised for El Rushbo to appear in primetime on FBC.

then everyone changes the channel for that half hour

  14. Yeah don… maybe they can catch a “To Catch A Predator” special instead.

  15. There ought not to be any confusion, or all this teeth-chattering among these slobs, oh, I mean snobs. This has been advertised as satire, and the program has been getting better every week. Just relax, geeks!

    Comment by RGL — August 10, 2007 @ 8:00 am

  16. Sure don, or when they’re watching Rosemary Clooney on LKL.

    Comment by Missy — August 10, 2007 @ 11:52 am

  17. Missy: Isn’t Rosemary Clooney dead? :)

    Comment by Ira — August 10, 2007 @ 12:10 pm

  18. Ira: Isn’t Larry King dead?

    Comment by ImNotBlue — August 10, 2007 @ 12:34 pm

  19. They need to give up on comedy. This show is the worst show on Fox or any other network.

    Comment by Ladyone — August 10, 2007 @ 1:48 pm

  20. The show is getting better every week - that is every week it isn’t a rerun! But they have to get rid of the Dennis Miller hate speech at the close of every show.

    Comment by erljr — August 10, 2007 @ 2:09 pm

  21. Yikes! Of all the old time Hollywood people, I have to use the name of one that has already died. Sorry, I should have checked.

    Comment by Missy — August 10, 2007 @ 6:26 pm

  22. This show just isn’t funny.
