Opinion: Cooper repeats…

Sort of odd seeing AC 360 air its second hour as a repeat last night. With news of the hurricane approaching, updates on the miner story, Michael Vick’s plea bargain, and CNN’s “God’s Warriors” premiering tonight, you’d think that would be enough to keep CNN live for the full two hours. Or at the very least switch over to CNNI to cover the hurricane approaching. But apparently it wasn’t. And this is on the heels of Cooper having the highest rated program in the Demo last week with all the breaking news coverage. You’d think that they’d want to build on that. Going to tape the second hour doesn’t achieve that.

  1. I notice even when CNNI does air on CNN they always seem to joined the taped programming in progress. By the do we need to see Larry King repeated not once but twice overnight. The stupid thing is there repeat AC360 at 5am usually.

  2. How much did Mary Snow pay you to post this? =p

Anyways, I agree with you Spud about the 2nd hour thing…frankly I don’t like the whole idea of repeating the same hour an hour later, but luckily this will all come to an end in a few weeks.

  3. Just a little heads up, AC will be airing at 11pm today. The promo said “Special Time: 11pm”, although at CNN.com, the program is still showing up at 10pm for tonight…either the grid on the website is wrong, or the show will be live for 2 hours today.

  4. Well, why isn’t Mr. “I’m the only person who travels for CNN” Cooper hasn’t been travelling very much lately. He didn’t go to Utah or Peru and he didn’t have to go to Dean. He’s sitting comfortably in the studio. God knows anony is going to have a stroke over that!

One of the hundreds of times that he’s signed a contract this year the entire point of the contract was that CNN could offer him the 2 hour block and now they have cut his hours back….Mr I’m do dedicated Cooper isn’t so dedicated anymore, he certainly doesn’t work as hard as he used to or has management changed their opinion of him? When Susan Bunda was promoted over Klein was there a shift in control? It looks like it.

I say he won’t go back to 2 hours ever. I suspect something is up at CNN but I’m not sure what.

Gee anony are you going to have a stroke over this?

  6. This week is an anomaly. No Larry King the next three nights, and two hours of God’s Warriors. That’s why AC360 is an hour late. We’ll see what runs in reruns overnight. Hopefully if God’s Warriors is preempted, they will pick it up where they left off when they come back.

  7. hey number 2..no lie..’mary snow’ as she calls herself no doubt feeds spud all the negative items about cnn and anderson cooper. i am willing to back it up with $$..anyway, no new news was coming so why not go into repeats. the updated weather inserts are easily edited in anyway.

  8. If AC360/CNN ever want a chance at beating Greta on a regular basis, they must boot the 11pm hour. Of course they could always “extend” the broadcast when needed. IMO, things tend to get “sloppy” when you “stretch” a one hour program into two.

  9. If 360 ever goes off the air, what will Mary Snow do with herself? She should be hoping it lasts forever since whining about it and criticizing Anderson is obviously her favorite pastime.
