The Keller who works as Exec. Editor of the NY Times is more likely to be a close ally of CAIR.
Comment by bigred — August 28, 2007 @ 11:21 am
Another great fact check by FNC! Really though, just another rare mistake, at least it wasn’t calling a child predator s Democrat instead of a Republican.
Comment by Chris (clind) — August 28, 2007 @ 11:23 am
Did FNC correct this mistake? And did anyone get fired?
Comment by Terance — August 28, 2007 @ 11:26 am
Terance: It was corrected merely by showing the Bill Keller who was the subject of the interview.
ImNotBlue (wherever you are): This was my point with the thread about MSNBC using the phony story about Al Sharpton/Michael Vick. Certainly a more egregious error than the Bill Killer photo but Chris, Terance et. al were nowhere to be found.
Comment by Ira — August 28, 2007 @ 11:43 am
Nothing will ever top MSNBC’s Niger Innis goof.
Comment by Alison — August 28, 2007 @ 11:44 am
Oh, Ira! You’ve got to be kidding! I’m the one on most of the negative FNC threads begging for comments from their loyal defenders around here. But, you and the others are either HIDING or changing the subject. Btw, I can’t deal with animal abuse, so its not uncommon for me to steer clear of a thread dealing with Michael Vick.
Comment by Terance — August 28, 2007 @ 11:55 am
Ira, in all honesty, one of the lowest mistakes I’ve seen on cable has been calling Foley is Democrat, I mean, when the network had covered it and everyone else had too, how do you make a mistake like that?!
Comment by Chris (clind) — August 28, 2007 @ 12:11 pm
Yeah, Ira, I’m interested in your thoughts on that too! Seeing that I just searched though 577 comments on the FNC FOLEY THREAD and you didn’t mutter a PEEP! HA!

Comment by Terance — August 28, 2007 @ 12:20 pm
Ira, you are 100% correct. FNC makes a mistake… BIAS, THEY’RE TERRIBLE, FIRE THEM ALL! MSNBC makes a mistake… OOPS, NO BIG DEAL, IT WAS JUST A MISTAKE.
And Terance, where were you comments on the MSNBC links to a FAKE NEWS SITE about Mike Vick! 5 comments… and none of them is you! Furthermore, none of them is Chris either!
It’s like red meat to the jackals… don’t all pounce at once, now.

Comment by ImNotBlue — August 28, 2007 @ 12:51 pm
ImNotBlue, did ya *miss* when I *just* said this? “Btw, I can’t deal with animal abuse, so its not uncommon for me to steer clear of a thread dealing with Michael Vick.”
And furthermore, I just ripped Abrams yesterday on a thread. Too bad the same can’t be said about you and FNC. Look, lets drop the charade. There’s several people around here (you included) who do nothing but cheerlead for FNC. So, acting as if I’m here to exclusively defend CNN or MSNBC is laughable. With a little investigating instead of fabricating, you’d see I rip/praise ‘em all and make no excuses.
Comment by Terance — August 28, 2007 @ 1:00 pm
I never said you were here to exclusively defend CNN or MSNBC… you are here to attack FNC. There’s a difference. But that’s your MO… really for all the nets: attack more than praise. And that’s fine, you often provide good insight.
However, you’re over the top attack at FNC for making a graphic mistake, just goes to show your desire to make FNC look worse then perhaps it should. Someone in graphics made a mistake… oops. Did they correct it? Was it obvious it was wrong? Yeah… well then move on. It’s not a conspiracy… this is not the grassy knoll.
Furthermore, the MSNBC link you “couldn’t deal with” was labeled: “MSNBC.com links to spoof site… ” and had a pull quote of, “National Review Online’s Media Blog notes that an MSNBC.com story on Michael Vick linked to a spoof site as a news source. MSNBC.com subsequently issued a correction…” Did that really turn you away?
And what about Chris? Why wasn’t he calling for people to be fired?
Comment by ImNotBlue — August 28, 2007 @ 1:12 pm
PS- About Foley… anyone hear that he is unlikely to be charged?
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2007/08/25/former-rep-mark-foley-unlikely-be-charged-media-mum
Not saying what he did was okay, or that that he shouldn’t have been kicked out… but how many places reported this story?
Comment by ImNotBlue — August 28, 2007 @ 1:15 pm
ImNotBlue, I do attack more than praise. But, the key here is ALL THE NETWORKS. I don’t *always* attack FNC. I happen to like Molly H., Jane Skinner, Trace G., Megyn K., Shep and a few others. Its not my fault this site is inundated with FNC threads. Finally, stop exaggerating:
>> “However, you’re over the top attack at FNC for making a graphic mistake, just goes to show your desire to make FNC look worse then perhaps it should.”
Where is my over the top comment? I just asked a simple question. Really, there was no malice involved. Oh yeah, and animal abuse makes me sick. So, every time ALL THE NETWORKS show anything about Michael Vick, I turn the channel, period. (and that even includes the beloved Erica Hill)
Comment by Terance — August 28, 2007 @ 1:28 pm
Terrance,
If I may use an analogy for the exaggeration you are pinpointing, it is a little like me saying that all conservative twenty-something males who are Fox News fanatics, enjoy receiving fellatio in airport bathroom stalls from other males.
While it is probably true, it is not necessarily true.
Comment by elmonica — August 28, 2007 @ 2:37 pm
Yes, Terrance, you like the “B-list” at FNC (except for Shep), the people who are the “supporting cast.”
Over the top, why ask (or assume) if anyone got fired?
Why say that us FOX defenders (and I say defenders because that’s what we wind up doing more of the time… defending FOX, because if we dare to say anything against it, the haters pounce like it’s the end of the world… give an inch, take a mile type stuff) hide from the FNC mistakes? You accuse us of hiding or changing the subject, but when Ira and I point out the latest mistake from MSNBC, and it had 5 comments, the best you can do is say you “ignore” stories like that. Where was Chris? Where were the other MSNBC defenders? Furthermore, where was the evidence?
Why bring up Foley? Why even bother linking to the Foley page, which even I didn’t comment on because by the time I got there, how many hundreds of comments were already posted? At that point, what’s the purpose? Just to be another voice in the crowd?
Look, I’ve read your stuff for a long time. Yeah, you’re an attacker… for most things. And perhaps in this case, I was wrong to phrase it as “over the top”… more like, “piling it on.” It was a graphic mistake. Oops. Someone made a typo… stop the presses! But either way, I don’t understand why some people around here have such a hard time saying mistakes happen. FNC is always a conspiracy… everyone else is allowed to make a mistake here and there.
As for Elmonica… nice… real classy. Spud, how much longer do we have to hear from the guy?
Comment by ImNotBlue — August 28, 2007 @ 3:04 pm
Terrance,
Did Fox news sleep with you mom or something?
Seriously, your obsessed. To be totally honest with you, it’s comical. Your mission is to get the “Fox” people all riled up, and your the one who looks like a crazy person.
Comment by Zakk — August 28, 2007 @ 3:37 pm
ImNotBlue:
>> because if we dare to say anything against it, the haters pounce like it’s the end of the world…
Personally, I wouldn’t “mold” my comments around what others might say. It has to do with integrity. If you’re big enough to cheerlead, ya shouldn’t have a problem criticizing.. Besides, it builds character and shows everyone you’re not just a one dimensional cheerleader for FNC.
>> You accuse us of hiding or changing the subject
Because you and several others are guilty. I’ve been around for a few years and can’t help but notice certain people “head for the hills” when the going gets tough. And I’d like to read what the same people have to say. But, apparently, they can’t muster up the backbone to post. SO, I’m a bit disappointed in you people. Finally, there is nothing wrong with you demanding the same from me or others. But, you need to focus on the people who are only pro MSNBC/CNN.
>> Why bring up Foley?
Chris brought up Foley and I “piled it on” since Ira didn’t even bother to post in that thread.
But, you might notice a fair&balanced post by me can be seen towards the top!
Anyway, thanks for having a civil discussion, ImNotBlue. I don’t usually get that around here, especially from your crowd.
Comment by Terance — August 28, 2007 @ 3:57 pm
Imno,
You are truly one dimensional in your Fox News brown nosing and cheerleading. I must say though that compared to you, I am two dimensional since I am both pro-MSNBC and anti-Fox News. Plus my posts contain both wit and humor while you are devoid of both elements. If anyone should get booted from this board it is you.
I might add that the story about Republican Senator Craig is a real new story reported on by both CNN and MSNBC with a few blurbs by Fox News.
By the way, to any of your peeps who fall in the group of Fox viewers I identified in my prior post, can any of you confirm whether or not this news report properly reflects the family values being carried out in our nation’s airport bathrooms?

Not surprisingly, Elmo has once again crossed the line.
Comment by bigred — August 28, 2007 @ 5:40 pm
Big Red,
Compared to you my insults have been tame and generalized and I never had stooped to the level commonly carried out by white trash on other forums of invoking the name of another commenter’s parents for the purposes of carrying out a personal insult.
The fact you and Imno take insults of the the Republican party or the Fox News collective personally, is your problem.
Comment by elmonica — August 28, 2007 @ 5:50 pm
Terrance- I still think the Foley thing is a red herring. There were a billion posts there, why even bother putting up another something when it was going to just get lost in the flood. Another voice in the crowd isn’t productive, and one of the reasons why I like this site so much… there are only a handful of people who comment, so everyone’s voice is usually heard.
____
Yes, Elmo, you’re right, you’re great, you’re posts are always the best. Blah blah blah. Whatever.
Comment by ImNotBlue — August 28, 2007 @ 6:30 pm
Terance: I am not a cheerleader for Fox or anybody else. Over the weekend you probably missed my criticism of Bill Hemmer’s awful performance on “Fox News Watch.” I criticize when appropriate.
But I’ll reiterate what I said above and what ImNotBlue concurred with above: reporting a spoof as real news (Al Sharpton/Brett Favre/Michael Vick) by MSNBC is a far more egregious error than accidentally placing a “D” instead of an “R” or vice versa in front of a politician’s name.
my posts contain both wit and humor
elmonica: I guess humor is in the eys of the beholder.
And with Spud on his way to New York and apparently not minding the store I expect you to go even more hog wild than usual in your group bashing!
While the cats are away the left-wing mice will surely play!
Comment by Ira — August 28, 2007 @ 8:09 pm
Thanks, Ira, your opinion is appreciated!
Comment by Terance — August 28, 2007 @ 8:52 pm
Terance: You may also remember that I was one of the few Fox regulars here to criticize Adam Hously for calling NYC Councilman Charles Barron an SOB even though Barron certainly deserved it!
Comment by Ira — August 28, 2007 @ 11:43 pm
Terance: For the record, tonight Alan Colmes acknowledged the Bill Keller picture mistake.
Re: Mark Foley.
This blog is supposed to discuss the coverage. If I didn’t comment about Mark Foley, it probably meant that I found nothing wrong with the Fox coverage. It certainly didn’t mean that I condoned his behavior. In fact, similar to Foley, I think Larry Craig should immediately resign.
Good night!

“While the cats are away the left-wing mice will surely play!”
Now that is funny! Take a lesson Imno.
By the way ImNo,
I am sorry your little coup attempt failed to get me banned. I suggest you use a different technique next time - I don’t think the overwrought, deeply anguished plea to Spud was convincing.
While Spud is on vacation, you may want to use this thread to organize a “Get Elmonica Banned” campaign. I think with enough popular support you could get the job done. Heck, it might even be fun.
