The Hazards of Live TV: #24,895
According to an emailer, FNC went to a commercial break just before the Larry Craig presser started. The presser got underway while FNC was on break and when FNC came back they had audio only at first. Video didn’t appear for about 20 seconds.

They knew about the conference! Why did they go to commercial!

FNC’s starting the Big Story talking about some killer, instead of the case in Idaho which MSNBC and CNN are covering.
Comment by Chris (clind) — August 28, 2007 @ 5:02 pm
The Big Story is the worst show on FNC. They should just give it to Geraldo.
Comment by jmkaib — August 28, 2007 @ 5:03 pm
Erica Hill is covering it. So, switch on over to the hot little number’s NEWScast!
Comment by Terance — August 28, 2007 @ 5:04 pm
It was just a mistake folks. Certainly wasn’t anything intentional by Fox News.
Comment by elmonica — August 28, 2007 @ 5:59 pm
They shouldn’t give ANYTHING to Geraldo. That man’s dramatic and constant defense of illegal immigrants makes me absolutely sick.

when Robert Filner a democrat was charged with assault and battery at airport a few weeks ago, Fox had several alerts on the story and it was talked about on every show. Hannity even remarked that they might even have another Cynthia McKinney type story in their hands. The Larry Craig story was only given a few minutes on the Big Story. Its like they like to cherry pick stories or diminish the stories that are not favorable to the republicans.

Can anyone confirm that this outage was a national problem, and not just a local problem? Often such issues can come from the distribution point (such as Cablvision, Comcast, DirecTV, etc) and not be carried nationally.
For example, last night at the end of O’Reilly and start of Hannity, the audio was jumping all over the place, and the lip sync was way off for about 15-20 minutes. However, since nobody else has mentioned this, I’m willing to assume that it was a local issue, not a national issue.
That said, it’s hard to claim “bias” when it’s a local problem, not a national problem.

I believe the problem was FNC lost their feed from the site of the press conf so they decided to go to break. Instead of going to the press conf when they got audio back they stayed with the break.

Shep had a lot of this story (10 min) on Fox Report.

Chickee: You are probably correct.
With a guest host (Dagen McDowell), and maybe also a guest director, a good guess is that they got flustered when Craig’s statement was 10 minutes later than announced.
Chris: Similar to yesterday with the Gonzales resignation, you are again out of context.
Coming back from the commercial, what remained of Craig’s statement was covered by FNC and then adeptly analysed by James Rosen.
Comment by Ira — August 28, 2007 @ 8:22 pm
“The Factor” (even with guest host Malkin) talked about Craig in no fewer than 3 segments.

Hazards #24896…..”Bobba Booy, Bobba Booy, Bobba Booy, YOU SUCK!” Spoken live on FNC 10:33am EST from a fake lifeguard regarding a shark attack. You heard about it first here.

To take some of the blame off of FNC, the conference was moved from 4pm to 4:30pm, and didn’t actually start until several minutes later. And honestly, the video of Craig standing at the podium wasn’t particularly integral to the story.

“And honestly, the video of Craig standing at the podium wasn’t particularly integral to the story.”
Neither is George Bush Standing at the podium for a live press conference. We know what he is going to say and how he is going to say it before he ever steps up to the podium. But we still bother to turn the cameras on.
Leave it to Fox News with the most narrowly targeted audience in the history of news television since these guys started broadcasting news to find a way to minimize the coverage of that press conference.

…by 20 seconds… for the video only…
Oops, I meant to say: Yes, Elmo, you’re right, you’re great, you’re posts are always the best. Blah blah blah. Whatever.

I glad to see your beginning to sound more coherent Imno. I knew you couldn’t resist responding to a slight against Fox News.

Imno,
Don’t sulk. I don’t think you are going to help your case with Spud (now or in the future) if you are engaging in this childish practice of repeating the same silly phrase over and over again to anything I say.
It you have nothing intelligent, witty or informative to say, it is best not to say anything at all.
