  1. I guess fnc wants to pull in more viewers by having some t and a on the screen. How long until gibson is totally off the show for good?

  2. Why is it that when a woman joins a news program, it must only be for T&A? Don’t you people believe that women can think, speak, and debate for themselves… and perhaps be pretty at the same time?

Sounds like sour grapes from a lot of ugly people.

  3. While her looks probably have helped open some doors in her career, Nauert happens to have the intelligence, education & experience to back it up.

  4. Hopefully they will discuss the big story of the day and not some Paris Hilton or Lindsey Lohan fluff piece. If not they should change the title of their show from The Big Story to the Big Distraction. Little entertainment stories that will take your mind of whats really happening.

  5. Let’s track FNC’s record and see…it’s pretty well known for putting pretty girls on the screen just to lure eyeballs. Look at janice dean for example someone knowledgable in weather she is not.

    Comment by Me — September 8, 2007 @ 4:01 pm

  6. Janice Dean is a meteorologist and does know weather.

Heather Nauert has a graduate degree in journalism from Columbia University.

    Comment by Amused — September 8, 2007 @ 4:18 pm

  7. “Me”… do you always make assumptions about people before you know anything about them? You know… other than what they look like?

I guess stereotyping don’t bother you.

    Comment by ImNotBlue — September 8, 2007 @ 4:27 pm

  8. Janice Dean is not a certified meteorologist and I hope i no longer have to hear john gibson’s right-wing “My Word”

    Here you go:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_control

That’s the wiki page for “Remote Control” that way, if you see something you don’t like on television, you’ll know how to CHANGE THE CHANNEL. Don’t read the bottom part, that’s the scientific stuff, it may be too advanced for you right now.

  10. Poor Gibby. I don’t think that ithis is good idea for Big Story. Its like putting 2 people on a horse. The horse breaks and dies. Thats what Nauert is going to do to the Big Story.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moron_%28psychology%29
“Moron was originally a scientific term, coined by psychologist Henry H. Goddard from the Greek word moros meaning “dull” (as opposed to sharp) and used to describe a person with a mental age between 8 and 12…..”
now go cry to your mom

  12. Janice Dean is a Meteorologist. She recently completed and passed all of her exams to be certified. If you take the advice of ImNotBlue and use that remote to head over to MSNBC, you’re more likely to find a “Weathercaster” on the air than a real meteorologist. You’re also likely to find an anchor who can’t speak clearly or articulate words or put sentances together… and that’s with a prompter… forget about when there is breaking news.

  13. WHY? WHY? WHY must they feel they have to screw with Gibby’s show? He’s great alone. The Judge and a several experts in other fields to interview occasionally is all THAT PRO needs to have a good show. As far as Heather(Sweet Polly Purebred)goes, she doesn’t read or interview well and is sorely lacking in the T & A dept. to boot. They would be foolish to anger one of the only REAL personalities they have left at FNC. John has character and guts. If they want “milk toast” anchors let them recruit from the “Greg Kelly School of Anchoring”.

  14. Aaron… how ’bout I go cry home to YOUR mom?

Hehehe… okay, that was stupid, but it made me laugh.

And Aaron… sorry to offend you, buddy. Just wanted to make sure you didn’t actually have to watch the program if it bothered you so much. Hold tight, little guy… keep practicing and soon, changing the channel will be as easy as… well, changing the volume.

  15. Hey Im Not Blue - I don’t think the guys were degrading women, I think Fox does that. Let’s face it. There are many women who are articulate, educated and have several degrees. Do you think they would ever get a chance to even get near Fox if they weren’t pretty? Do you think Guilfoyle, Dhue, and Bandaras got where they are because they are so intelligent and “professional”. To see Laurie Dhue with a “stripper pole” or Banderas having her hair done pretty much tells you what Fox is after. Haven’t you noticed that they all have long, straight hair, 1/2 pound of makeup and clothes so tight and short that they can really expose their legs (and almost more). They are a cross between “Barbie” and the Stepford Wives. Now that’s what I find demeaning and degrading.

  16. Dee, I just don’t understand why you discount the success those women have had in their career. It’s not like these women are just off the street… they have experience in the business before they got to FNC. Just read their bios:

Guilfoyle - Legal Analyst on “Good Morning America” (ABC), “Larry King Live” (CNN), “Anderson Cooper 360°” (CNN), “Both Sides” (Court TV), Assistant District Attorney (San Francisco)

Dhue - “Special Edition” (MSNBC), “The Today Show” weekend edition (NBC), “Newsfront” (MSNBC), “CNN Saturday,” “CNN Sunday,” “World View,” (CNN) and “The World Today” (CNN).

Bandaras - “Outstanding Single Newscast” Emmy ‘04, WNYW-TV (FOX), WFSB-TV (CBS), WHSV-TV (ABC), and WBRE-TV (NBC).

So yes, they’re all attractive women (although, I find all but Bandaras to be kind of funny looking), but they’re all quite experienced. Television is a visual media… the people need to be physically appealing in some manner… but you should immediately assume that just because they’re attractive, they don’t know what they’re talking about.

    That’s demeaning and stereotyping.

  17. Dee, the girls on Fox are all as you describe, but so are those on MSNBC and CNN as well. Why are you just calling out Fox?

And Roger, I agree; Gibson does well on his own and does not need a co-host. If he needs to divide up responsibilities, I wish he’d just do 30 minutes of heavy news, and give the remaining time to Heather or anyone else to do the other (and then I could just switch over to Larry Kudlow at that point).

And as many of you mention, I hate the tabloidization, too, whether it be Gibson, O’Reilly or any news program on any of the networks.

  18. I’ve taken to listen to Gibby on the radio these days. He actually has a great show. I hope they don’t put her on the radio with him too.

  19. #16 #17 Lets review. I was not calling out just Fox, but that was the channel we were talking about was it not. Go back and check your “qualifications” about these women. When does a legal background make you a good anchor. Especially when your ex-husband is mayor of the city where you where in the DA’s office. I believe she was also a lingerie model. Good resume. I know the other networks also capitalize on good looks, but Fox makes it a priority and we all know it. I always appreciate good looks, male or female (especially male just in case there are questions) but when you can’t remember who you’re interviewing, or bring your jeweler on your show, I’m sorry that just doesn’t do it for me. Why don’t they promote some really handsome men on the channel. Ever wonder?

I love it when a plan comes together.

    Comment by ImNotBlue — September 10, 2007 @ 11:47 am

  21. I don’t know what YOUR plan is ImNotBlue, but mine is to give credit to women who are intelligent, professional and have paid their dues but don’t happen to be sexy or beautiful. That’s what I mean by “demeaning and degrading”, and as a woman I take it personally.

    Comment by Dee — September 10, 2007 @ 12:36 pm

  22. My “plan” as I jokingly said… was to point out that men are also seen for their asthetics. The link was to a not posted today about FNC’s Bill Hemmer making US Weekly’s fashion list.
