Kurtz on Hannity/Thompson…

Howard Kurtz held his weekly chat yesterday (via FishbowlDC)

Baltimore: Re: FOX and MSNBC as partisans: The equivalency is absurd. While MSNBC has Olbermann, it also has Joe Scarborough, Dan Abrams, Tucker Carlson and others who are either to the right or in the middle. Fox has O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Brit Hume (who I know has an illustrious reporting career, but is pretty much in the tank fro the administration).

Howard Kurtz: What about Alan Colmes???

Actually, I’d feel better about that if Sean ever let Alan ask Fred Thompson a question.

  1. Yup… the liberals aren’t liberal enough… sure he has a popular radio program, but he works for FOX… how liberal could he be?

And Sean shouts at everything! All the time!
    “Hi Sean.”
    “HELLO! HOW ARE YOU TODAY?”

Ugh… pathetic. Now, someone tell me how the right uses talking points. Every single criticism of FNC is EXACTLY THE SAME! Always the same complaints, never actually true, just copy/paste, copy/paste, copy/paste.

  2. I think Kurtz is right insofar as people like Thompson do one-on-ones with Hannity. But that’s not Hannity’s fault, it’s Thompson’s, since that’s the ground rules he wanted for the interview. As for Kurtz, he really should point out that people like Sen Byrd, John Edwards, John Kerry, etc, do interviews with Alan Colmes where Hannity doesn’t get to ask any questions. It goes both ways. I don’t care for the practice in either case, and think all guests should have to face both Hannity AND Colmes. That IS the name of the program, after all.

  3. Agree with Johnny Dollar. That has been the setting for a lot of leaders interviewed on Hannity & Colmes.

Parenthetically, when Colmes was out on vacation, I enjoyed the show better with Bob Beckel and Susan Estrich substituting for Colmes. Those two are far move civil, more knowledgeable, and more even-tempered than Colmes will ever be. Hannity will have better numbers without Colmes.

What the hell are you talking about? “more civil” “more even-tempered” are used to describe Alan Colmes? Are you kidding me? I watch these guys every night and I have yet to see him act UN-civil let alone to lose his temper…you have no idea what you are talking about, you really don’t.

  5. Also, since when is Scarborough still a Republican? He bashes the GOP about as much as KO. I guess that’s what Joe has to do to stay employed at Moonbat Central.

  6. K J,
Alan Colmes may not lose his temper. But he is mean.
He doesn’t scream, but he is filled with a wrathful steely anger.
Unfortunately, his phyisal appearance garners him no attention. So he has become sullen and morose - an unlikeable.

  7. Ah, I can see this thread is in dire need of an unbiased voice… Colmes is a joke and Hannity runs over him like a speed bump. Too bad FNC doesn’t have the guts to replace him with Jeff Cohen. Btw, FNC loyalists aren’t fooling me one bit with talk such as, “Colmes is fine, he does a good job.” Yeah, right. He does the job FNC wants him to do which is simply show up for work and receive a nightly larruping.

  8. KJ, you bozo. I have been watching this show over the years and you must be asleep when Colmes has been ranting. Yes, he rants and grunts, asking questions with no relevance, and always interrupting the speaker when he disagrees with a conservative, which he does 99% of the time. Beckel and Estrich would be welcome replacemnts,

  9. I don’t even like watching Hannity and Colmes all that much b/c Colmes is no foil for Hannity. Hannity basically does what he wants while Alan fades in the distance.

  10. Well, Howie K., I’d feel better if Alan ever let Sean ask Hillary Clinton a question.
