More on Olbermann’s Appendectomy…

TVWeek’s Michele Greppi adds color to the Keith Olbermann appendectomy story. Grepi writes that Olbermann is still hospitalized…

Mr. Olbermann’s appendix apparently ruptured Wednesday, but he wrote it off as a stomach ailment and soldiered on. Though still feeling ill, he nonetheless reported for work Thursday night, when he anchored MSNBC’s analysis of President Bush’s prime-time address on the war in Iraq.

It wasn’t until Friday afternoon that he decided it was time to seek medical attention, according to an MSNBC spokeswoman.

  1. What causes appendicitis?

Appendicitis occurs when the interior of the appendix becomes filled with something that causes it to swell, such as mucus, stool, parasites OR “O’Reilly?.,ugh!

  2. Wonder if him taking off couple of days will affect his upwards swing in the ratings. Wonder if BO will send a get well card to KO.

  3. This will be BO’s get well card:

Front: Once you recover, everything will be back to the way it was before.

Inside: I’m sorry I had to be the one to tell you that.

  5. YIKES. A ruptured appendix is bloody painful and dangerous. All that crap gets into your bloodstream and you can get sepsis and kick the bucket. My mom had that on top of a blocked bowel. It was very scary.

  6. I wish KO the best on his path to recovery.
A ruptured appendix can have very serious medical emergency type complications, ie: peritonitis: an infection spreading through out the abdominal cavity: There are still deaths from this even though they are rare in this country.
    Good luck to Keith.

  8. I’m guessing President Bush’s prime-time address didn’t help much. Anyways, I wish him well.

  10. Very funny, A.M.

Now if only we could get him a “Head-out-of-his-butt-ectomy” he’d be set.

But in all seriousness… never wish anyone ill health… here’s hoping KO gets recovers well.

  12. Maybe, just maybe, while KO is recuperating, there will some time for reflection about his recent comments.

  13. I made the remark at Olbermann Watch that this was good time to show the difference in our we treat someone we disagree with with the way some on the Left-wing Blogs like Daily Kos treat people they don’t like…such as the infamous attacks on Tony Snow after he reported he had cancer..so get well soon KO so you can get back to having your butt kicked by O’Reilly every night. :)

  14. I hate to say this Keith…. So right now I won’t…. Now if Al Roker could get Hoof and Mouth Disease, Matt Lauer hair follicle fall out and Steve Capus is electrocuted by one of his consoles then you Keith should be off the air forever

  15. I won’t wish KO suffer a slow painful death on the operating table. And I won’t say that God ruptured his appendix in retribution for all the bile he spews. I’ll leave those types of sentiments to the tolerant, open-minded progressives at the DailyKos and HuffPost.

I hope you get well Keith. You take it easy buddy. Feel free to stay home until you’re 100%. No rush to come back. Take as long as you need. Maybe take a little extra time off just to be sure. We’ll be ok without you.

  16. As much as I dislike KO, I have newfound respect that he did the president’s speech coverage with a ruptured appendix.

  17. Actually Ira, I am sure he is reading get well cards from people who appreciate the fact that he his speaking his mind on issues that have been sorely missing from the public discourse.

Further, I am sure he is putting his time in bed to good use by working on either a new special commentary about the lying liars of the Bush administration or a new honor to be bestowed on the treasonous schmucks of talk radio and Fox News.

  18. #5 - Yeah, my uncle went through the a ruptured appendix and had sepsis…it was touch and go for a little while. I’m surprised he did the Presidential address coverage…my uncle said the pain got to be unbearable, and the doctors said that was symptomatic of the appendix getting ready to burst. Like many of us, he ignored it and hoped it would go away the next day.

Hopefully Keith will be up and around soon.
