CNBC HD: The release…

CNBC’s release on CNBC HD…

Viewers turn to CNBC, First in Business Worldwide, for fast, accurate, actionable and unbiased business news. Now with CNBC HD+, viewers will get more of it.

CNBC will launch CNBC HD+, a high-definition simulcast service of CNBC, in October. At launch, CNBC HD+ will be available to DIRECTV customers.

CNBC HD+ is the essential service for the investor, providing all the elements of CNBC with greater levels of information equipping the viewer with more tools necessary to make decisions.

CNBC HD+ takes full advantage of the wider screen format and finer resolution offered by high definition to deliver an unprecedented mix of value added information, packaged with the current program service. Long the leader in the delivery of breakthrough graphics and real-time data, CNBC HD+ ushers in a new generation of content. Among the features available: lists of market performers by category, index charts and statistics, and detailed information regarding companies - including a revolutionary new charting tool and deep drill-downs on company fundamentals, price performance, earnings, competitors - and more. The HD+ content will also be specially programmed and linked to on-air discussions.

The new service will also be programmed to include a secondary video window with its own audio channel, so viewers can opt to follow important live events such as testimony, press conferences and other events.
CNBC HD+ also highlights an improved ticker and index panel, which retains the same format, but enable high definition viewers to track more companies and market data at the same time.

“CNBC HD+ was a natural decision for CNBC as our viewers expect the best from us,” said Steve Fastook, Vice President of Technical Operations, CNBC. “To serve our viewers, the most affluent audience in cable television, we took a non-traditional approach to HD leveraging larger screen real estate, sharper images and our existing world class data, news gathering and production capabilities.”

“CNBC HD+ is a service that we believe DIRECTV customers will truly value,” said Bridget Baker, president, TV Distribution, NBC Universal. “We appreciate DIRECTV’s on-going support of all of our TV networks, including the newest, CNBC HD+.”

CNBC HD+ programming will feature CNBC’s Business Day (M-F 6AM-6PM ET) programs including “Squawk Box”(6AM-9AM ET), “Squawk on the Street” (9AM-11AM ET), “The Call” (11AM-12NOON ET), “Power Lunch” (12NOON-2PM ET), “Street Signs” (2PM-3PM ET), “Closing Bell” (3PM-4PM ET), “Closing Bell w/ Maria Bartiromo” (4PM-5PM ET) and “Kudlow & Company” (5PM-6PM ET).

  1. Unless NBC is doing DOND in HD this season, you will see nothing more than a SD picture sent in HD resolution.
