The new Fox Report…

The new Fox Report debuts on Monday. TVNewser has an email regarding a series of satellite interviews Shepard Smith will do. Here are more details regarding the program…

- The set will feature a new high-tech environment, complete with multiple plasma screens, a single rear-screen projection wall, a double rear-projection wall and a large LED stealth wall, enabling Smith to provide viewers with even more video and valuable information in real-time.

- In addition to an advanced set, FOX Report will feature a regular segment utilizing new media and “U Report,” a viewer-generated content initiative. Tapping into the Internet community of blogs and citizen video, the program will select unique personalities who will present commentary from pop culture, to politics, to current events.

  1. I’m worried about the commentary addition to the program honestly, I mean, that’s why I love the Fox Report and Shepard, the program’s been sharp and unpositioned. Also, sounds a touch like “Free Speech” from the CBS News relaunch.

  2. I’m willing to give them a chance, mostly because I’m excited to see the new studio. But given their recent track record on changes (like with what’s been done to Studio B), I’m still kind of worried, too. (BTW, Shep just announced that they’re staying in the newsroom for the time being in the afternoons.)

And God only knows what horrendous lower-thirds they have planned for Monday.

  3. #2, I don’t think they can get much worse than the “tabs of doom” and the revision afterwards with the hideous blue and yuck yellow banner font. If anything, at lease The Big Story has shown they are thinking about the older style, though the banner font for that one still sucks also. The new studio should be interesting, and a hopeful revision to the L3 would be nice also, especially if they get rid of the “tabs of doom” era banner font. BOLD ALL CAP ARIAL or something like that in yellow gradient, yuck!

  4. I’m glad I’m not the only one dreading this!

No really, I’m going to give it a chance, but I do have a bad feeling. Of course, I find myself watching less and less FNC these days for any number of reasons…even Shep’s shows and H&C, which used to be no-miss for me.

  5. After a while, you can easily get bored with cable news shows. That is why they are launching an all new Fox Report.
I try not to watch too much at a time, or else I can’t watch for a while.

  6. I hope it’s not music-less and humourless and teaser-less like all the shows have become recently (especially Studio B and FOX Report)….

  7. Yeah, I was surprised they even bothered doing a new theme song for the new Big Story considering we hear it for about 45 seconds total during the whole show.

  8. The teasers and music were some of my favorite parts of his newscasts, and the coming up graphics on the FR were excellent. I really am annoyed with the changes that have been in place for a while now. The G Block has been gone for about a year now from FR, and Skinnerville has been gone for several months on Studio B too; both were very popular. Who the hell is approving these changes?

  9. Steven,
I agree. Shep and Jane were perfect together. Why do they do this?
I hope Studio B keeps its unscripted feel, with Shep off the cuff and funny.

  10. Honestly, I kinda wish they would bring back the G-Block and just keep everything Hollywood contained in that segment instead of throughout the program.

  11. I hope the FNC people know what they are doing! Don’t they all read the blogs?

  12. Well, what I am wondering about is what percentage of their viewers are advocating the changes? As much as I love the Fox Report, I’ve been finding myself moving towards the Situation Room just due to the program having a flow and whatnot. Shepard has got better about the drop-offs to commercial, but really, the speed is what I miss. FNC has been about LIVE shots and reporters on location, one of the reasons I think I liked FNL for a long time, I mean, CNN loves tape, which is fine, but live reporters usually allows for interaction and whatnot. Anyway,

  13. With so of many nutty stories out there I hope Shep will remain, mostly professional, rather than editorializing or laughing his arse off. Godell won’t let Skinner play the game any longer with Shep the Prep. How non-liberal of him.

  14. Chris, I wonder the same thing. Who is clamoring for the changes? There was a quote from Shep in that TV Guide article last month where he said that “viewers have said, ‘Stop telling me for 45 seconds what you’re going to do in the next four minutes.’” Who are these viewers? I’m certainly not one of them. I can’t tell you how many times the teasers have actually kept me around. They were part of a total, coherent production of a show that now feels very awkward.

  15. yeah who IS approving these changes? It’s happened to virtually every program on the channel now…
