Phil Griffin interview…

The New York Times’ Brian Stelter interviews Phil Griffin about today’s MSNBC news…

Phil Griffin, the senior vice president of NBC News to whom Mr. Abrams had reported, will assume direct management of MSNBC beginning next month. Mr. Griffin, who also oversees NBC’s “Today” show, said that Mr. Abrams was initially reluctant to host the 9 p.m. hour, but began to enjoy his presence in prime time, just as Mr. Griffin began taking on more of the day-to-day management of MSNBC. Thus, Mr. Griffin said, the new structure seemed to take shape organically.

With MSNBC moving to midtown Manhattan, “we’re all going to be just a few offices apart,” Mr. Griffin said. “There are going to be a lot of synergies.”
