Shuster exonerated?

The Memphis Commercial Appeal’s Bartholomew Sullivan writes that the deceased soldier Jeremy Bohannon’s last legal address was in Rep. Blackburn’s district… (via FishbowlDC)

Bohannon grew up, was home-schooled and was buried in McEwan, which is clearly in the 8th Congressional District of U.S. Rep. John Tanner, D-Tenn. But his last legal address was in Blackburn’s district.

  1. Let me make sure I understand. The Memphis Commercial Appeal is trying to say that even though the soldier “was home-schooled” in the Democrat’s district the actual home-home was in the Republican’s district. Hence, Shuster was actually right. Are they serious?

  2. Exonerated? Then why did he apologize?

There is one more thing that disturbs me about this. According to Investors Business Daily, “the soldier’s family had explicitly declined to release their son’s name to public officials under the Federal Privacy Act.” Didn’t Shuster care about this? He went against the family’s wishes and “outed” this man, all for a game of “gotcha.”

  3. Well if they were doing a cursory search, it’s possible that the legal residence was what was dug up. So while I don’t know if Shuster was right, I can see how he could have thought he was right.

  4. William, thanks for that info. That is critical to the story, and apparently Shuster would have rather played this game of “smear” than to honor the family’s wishes.

  5. Shuster sounds like a very petty small and bitter man.

  6. I wonder if those on the right who were so quick to pounce on Shuster, will be equally as quick to apologize?

  7. Surely you jest! Apologize to Schuster? He intentionally set her up and hoped she wouldn’t know the answer and he could embarass her. He would have had the same results had he asked a Dem the same question, but, of course, that would never happen. He is a little Chris Matthews waterboy with big ambitions and if he keeps this up, his career will be shortlived. Oh, wait a minute - he will be a star on MSNBC.

  8. My question is how did David Shuster ever get an on-air job to begin with?? He’s terrible.

  9. Bottom line it was a cheap stunt no matter where he lived period and KO’s lapdog Shuster shouldn’t have done it.
