Is CNN losing viewers at 8pm to MSNBC?
This was touched on yesterday briefly in the Broadcasting & Cable article, but here’s a chart showing the change in audience share (P2+) between all the networks since Paula Zahn Now ended its run on CNN…
The graphic is a little hard to read so here are the percentages…
Zahn Exit to Date…
CNBC 4%
HLN 13%
MSNBC 17%
CNN 15%
FNC 51%
Same period last year…
CNBC 4%
HLN 16%
MSNBC 12%
CNN 18%
FNC 50%
I’m sure the folks at MSNBC are very happy to be increasing their share, regardless of where it comes from…

Looks like the red part of the pie is growing. I wonder if it’s cherry or maybe strawberry? Could I have some whipped cream on my piece, the big red one. FOX NEWS RULES!!!!

When Fox reaches about 75% the graph will look like Pacman. Maybe you could find some pacman sound effects for the special accasion?

Pacman! LOL! I’m waiting to see how Fox Business will bite into the pie. They’ll rake away at CNBC for certain, but they might also pick off Fox News viewers. It’ll be interesting to watch.
If they use Wall Street Journal reporters to do a lot of Main Street reporting, and dabble in some political and international news, it will have the most moderate tone on cable (liberal reporters tamed by conservative owners), and there’s a niche for that: People too liberal to watch Fox News, and getting bored to death watching CNN/MSNBC.

Do you think that the Fox Business Chanel will wipe out all of CNBC’s slice, or just some of it?
It’ll be interesting to see what size of the market FNC is commanding with the launch of the Biz network on October 15.

Throw a few promos Rick’s way, and I wouldn’t be suprised if he cuts even more into the O’Reilly numbers. He is pulling in half a million viewers a day with little or no pub when compared to Keith and Bill.

Cut’s into FNC’s numbers? Are you joking? FNC’s percentage GREW… Rick isn’t cutting into anything.. in fact, he’s allowing FNC and MSNBC to cut into CNN’s numbers!
