Abrams takes shot at FBN talent…
Last night on Live with Dan Abrams, during the Beat the Press segment, Abrams took the photos of three FBN talents and compared them to Joey Lawrence. Or something like that. I still can’t see the video yet..

Abrams is morphing into an Olbermann “wanna be”.
He is just tedious.

That was lame.

I have never even heard of Joey Lawrence (I guess I’m out of it), but it was a little humorous, in that those shots of the Fox Biz people do look like those that are typically taken of models. I don’t know how much trading advice I can take from these beautiful people; let’s hope they know their stuff.
The Rick Sanchez clip was hysterical; he could not get the illegals to speak to him on the air (technical difficulties, apparently). And re: O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly - this was not shown on Abrams’ clip, but whenever O’Reilly talks to Megyn, he calls her “Kelly”, as he apparently thinks that’s her first name. He apparently doesn’t know any better.

Missy
Joey Lawrence used to be on a sitcom called “Blossom” you can probably google it, he was also on Dancing with the Stars…why is Abrams so familar with his career, a groupie?
Comment by Ree — October 4, 2007 @ 1:05 pm
Missy, O’Reilly called everyone by their last names, male or female. I think it’s a little tacky myself but nothing for Abrams to get bent out of shape about.
Not to get off point but did anyone else get peeved at him last night for not letting his guests talk but inserting himself into every topic? I love to listen to Dennis Miller’s comments but no, Bill has to make himself the subject of everything. Gawd is he tedious. I think I am like a lot of people; personally I can’t stand the guy but cannot quit watching and find myself agreeing with his ideas but can’t stand him.

“Joey Lawrence used to be on a sitcom called “Blossom””
Which still had higher ratings than Dan.

I only saw Abrams during a commercial break from the good programming that I watch but I couldn’t help but be shocked at what an Olbermann lapdog he’s turned into - he has a terrible case of Bush and Fox Derangement Syndrome. He’s an embarrassment. He was actually doing a segment on the Rush story which is OVER. Media Matters is a joke and reasonable people are understanding they have no credibility but are a Clinton smear team. Tucker was awesome yesterday taking on the MM loon who couldn’t get a sentence put together. He must have thought since Tucker is on MSNBC that he’d be getting softballs but Tucker was brilliant. Tucker is the only show on MSNBC worth watching in my opinion….and I bet they get rid of him.

sophia,
God knows I’m no fan of Jesse Jackson, but I actually felt sorry for him when he was on The Factor last week - he couldn’t get a word in! I think he finally said something like “if I may…” to try to tell O’Reilly he wanted to get a word in.
Moonbeam, you are right about Tucker. He is the only thing worthwhile on MSNBC, and I did hear him mention a few weeks ago that he felt his time there was limited. Too bad; I still believe he and Willie should have been given the old Imus time slot.

Did Dan Abrams have anything to say about The View show where Whoppi Goldberg and Barbara Walters actually joked they would like to “do” Nancy Pelosi’s husband and Whoppi would like a threesome with them. This occurring while they are guests on the show… Is this what politics is coming to - this kind of discourse? If he wants to complain about something, he should pick a subject that needs scrutiny like the women on The View lately. Whoppi makes Rosie look tame.

The MSNBC “mentality” such as it is, seems to be, “well, bashing Fox worked for Olbermann”, maybe it’ll work for the rest of our anemic programming. What they fail to take in account of course is that despite the butt-kissing, swooning media to the contrary is that it really hasn’t worked for Olbermann who continues to marginalize himself as a one-man liberal fan club. His ratings are still only a fraction of Fox’s and if Zahn hadn’t left, they probably wouldn’t be as good as they are now. But whatever. One day Abrams might need a job and these days, Fox is the only news network that is hiring, everyone else is laying off.
Comment by Alison — October 4, 2007 @ 3:20 pm
I think that the biggest problem is that he is right on this one. Most of the hires for FBN are not of the caliber of CNBC. Even with a crash course in Business and Finance they probalby will ask very uninformed questions or have unintelligent comments.
Comment by Michelle — October 4, 2007 @ 3:25 pm
Missy & Sophia: I love to see Tonya Reiman analyse Bill’s “body language” of purposely calling people by their last names.
Comment by Ira — October 4, 2007 @ 3:34 pm
Michelle,
Befor knocking the the new FBN hires for being stupid and uninformed how about at least letting them get on the air and open their mouths?
Dagen McDowell and Rebecca Gomez are both smart women. Brenda Buttner and Terry Keenan are both very intelligent women.(I think it was a mistake to not give them their own shows on FBN.)
I think it is only fair to give the others a chance before condemning them for being stupid simply because they are photogenic.
Comment by malone — October 4, 2007 @ 3:39 pm
Ira: I would love to see that too, especially the way he does that sissy hand thing he does; always using his hands to talk in that effiminate way. Personally, I think these little segments of analyzing people’s body language and the Culture Quiz is just fluff and I wish they would get rid of those two things.
Comment by sophia — October 4, 2007 @ 4:03 pm
Why doesn’t Abrams comment on how bad some of the people on his own network are?
Comment by Nobody — October 4, 2007 @ 4:12 pm
DITTO Nobody.
Comment by SHANE — October 4, 2007 @ 5:54 pm
I almost feel sorry for Abrams. Is he really so desperate for ratings that he’s decided emulating Olbermann is his only option? And if he is going to emulate someone, you’d think he’d choose someone with higher ratings.
Comment by Caufield — October 4, 2007 @ 5:59 pm
Abrams sucks at GMing and hosting. Even the loyalest of MSNBC watchers know it.
Comment by Aaron — October 4, 2007 @ 6:15 pm
I think the real funny thing in that segment was not the FBN comments but Rich Sanchez trying to take phone calls :P
Comment by Richard W. — October 4, 2007 @ 6:48 pm
dan is trying to morph into something he isnt. check out previous shows months ago when he had alot of gray hair, not to be seen now. at least olberman is not as vain as abrams.
Comment by eric l. thomas — October 4, 2007 @ 7:03 pm
MSNBC would do much better if they forgot about Fox News, Oreilly and Rush and just did the news and do it well.
But if they did that they would have to tell the truth and the thats something MSNBC wouldnt know even if it was handed to them.

Good Grief! Tucker is great. As I have said many times, he is six steps ahead of everyone he is conversing with.
They are trying to catch their breath and he has moved on to another subject.
He is best when he is waving his arms and screaming with laughter and fake outrage! Perfect.
I can’t understand why he hasn’t caught on.
Comment by Cella — October 4, 2007 @ 8:25 pm
He’s totally right! Lightweights all around!
Comment by noone — October 4, 2007 @ 8:27 pm
Did Rick Sanchez actually get a call through? All I heard was dial tones. That was very sad to watch.

I’m not sure what’s going on with MSNBC and CNN, but Fox News has been dominating the cable news ratings for quite sometime. In my opinion, Both Dan Abrams and Keith Olbermann (spelling), have become very immature people on cable news. Anderson Cooper is not much better (notice how much he stutters when he is live). Abrams and Olbermann in my opinion have really become disgusting. All they seem to know how to do is insult Fox News and Bill O’reilly. Regardless of your opinion of Fox or O’Reilly, Abrams and Olbermann behave like children. MSNBC and CNN seriously need to look at the talent they have, because these 2 men obviously don’t have any. All they seem to be able to do is show how O’reilly is the most evil person in the world. Abrams and Olbermann, and executives at MSNBC and CNN need to get over their jealousies of FOX News and get better talent, report more news, and get people who can speak without stuttering.
